Ivy and Olivia are apart for the first time since they discovered they were twins. Ivy is in Transylvania at famed vampire school Wallachia Academy. She's learning everything from vampire royal history to the art of coffin construction--but one important thing is missing: Olivia!
Back in Franklin Grove, Olivia misses Ivy, but is determined to stay cheerful. She's even made a brand-new friend! But when Olivia dresses up like Ivy as a favor to Brendan, everyone gets confused. Without her sister to help her out, Olivia has to untangle the twin turmoil all by herself!
Sienna Mercer grew up in Toronto, Canada. She was an only child, and always wanted a brother or sister – especially a twin. A twin would have been awesome! Sadly, she never got that sister so, when she was grown up, she did the next best thing - she wrote books about a girl who reminded her of herself, and gave her the most fun, fabulous twin she could think of!
Sienna began writing stories when she was a teenager, on a very wet day in Toronto when her cheerleading practice was cancelled - and she has not stopped writing since. She used to write in red leather notebooks while sat on her bed, but now does most of her writing in her attic, which is quite dark, and has some spooky cobwebs in the corners - the perfect location for thinking about vampires. She doesn't use red notebooks anymore, either, although she keeps them in a chest by her desk in the attic.
Sienna got the idea for My Sister the Vampire from a daydream she had - what if she had a super-cool twin sister... who was a vampire? She loved the characters - and their kooky friends and family - so much that she just had to keep writing about them.
When she's not daydreaming about vampires and cheerleading, Sienna enjoys travelling and exploring new cities, and keeps a detailed scrapbook of everywhere she’s visited. She lives in Toronto, kept company by Calypso and Angel – her two gorgeous cats. She is happily writing away and we wait for her upcoming books!
I would say this is one of the worst of the series so far. But come on... it's still My Sister the Vampire and it still had the awesome, heart-warming ending that just kills me every time. I feel adjusting to the twins' new situations (which definitely aren't as bright and cheery as in previous books) was a bit difficult for me, and therefore the first half of this book wasn't all that entertaining. But the pacing was great and I so admire how Sienna Mercer can make one thing lead to another, and different storylines interweave, meaning that it wasn't difficult for me to get to the second half, which in my opinion was a marked improvement. I especially loved Ivy's adventure and the drama with Brendan. Such a satisfying conclusion and very interesting to see the twins facing some new challenges. If you love this series, of course I recommend you read this one.
I thought this was a very good book with a good moral my fav part was when ivy made it through the Gauntlet and miss Avisrova was proud and not angry my next fav part was how they slept in coffins really good book
"This is a funny, super-girly story with a vampire bite to it. Sink your teeth into Olivia and Ivy's eleventh fright-time adventure. We're still double trouble!' The twins are apart, but life is as batty as ever...Ivy's settling in to Wallachia Academy, but the school's strict rules are a real pain in the neck. Back in Franklin Grove, Olivia's begun dressing like Ivy - to get in to a vampire rock concert! It's bound to cause a coffin-load of chaos." (Amazon.com)
One of my favorite My Sister The Vampire Books!
I like all the books though I have some favorites and this is one of them! My dad is right, he always says that "The last is the best" especially when we're eating and one of my sibling's or I gets our food or order last. At first we'll feel bad about it but after my dad says his very cheerful quote we feel much better cause its true - well, most of the time. I know its not the last book though it is for now.
This is the first time Ivy and Olivia has been apart from each other, other than in the first book when they havent met each other and didnt know they were twin sisters - although that story wasnt really broadly told. Cause they instantly found out and realized that they were long lost sisters, identical twins!
The info that shocked me the most was that a certain perfect couple broke up - again, I'm not spoiling anything cause I have an anti-spoil policy when writing reviews cause I want my readers to read the book themselves - and it made me so mad at myself for not waiting to buy the 9th book first before reading the 10th and 11th. But I am happy for a certain couple that their love grew after their first romantic spotlight in the 10th book. But I was a bit sad that Ivy and Brendan wouldnt be seeing each other for a while.
I loved how both Ivy and Olivia's personality is growing and changing and how they're really growing up in these book series'. I loved how Ivy was thinking and somewhat/somehow acting like Olivia in helping Petra in her problems on The Academy's rules. And Olivia switching to Ivy to get Brendan and Sophia to a concert and to not disappoint her new friend, Holly - whose character I really like. What I dont like, though, is that Camilla's and Sophia's friendship with Olivia and Ivy, It seems as if I'm not seeing them, bestfriends, anymore. I know they still are... its just not shown much in the books anymore. I hope the next book will spark a light in their beautiful friendship once more!
Brendan, Oh Brendan! I love you and Ivy so much, words cannot explain. I feel sooo bad for Olivia though, I loved her and Jackson sooo much! I wish Jackson would come back in the next book so that he and Olivia could somehow make up. I dont want another dude for Olivia other than Jackson. Jackson and Olivia forever! And of course, Brendan and Ivy forever! I do hope there will be a love interest for Sophia and Camilla soon.
I am so happy for Charles when I read that certain very happy yet secretive part I literally squealed. And it was a very embarrassing moment cause I was in public, I was in school, in the library - where everyone should be quiet. I am also very happy and excited for that other couple that featured their romance in the 10th book. I hope Sienna Mercer adds both those exciting news to the following My Sister The Vampire books to come!
I also love Sienna Mercer's improvements in writing. She writes more vocabulary words I've never heard of and also British slang. She writes the details of the settings more and the clothes and basically almost everything.
Chapter 10, the last chapter truly surprised me. The end was soooooooooo good! The suspense of it all. When that unexpected significant but happy moment happened...
I was like then I was like and lastly I was like
Seriously, it caught me off guard. And again, I was at the library at the time but I managed to keep it down. And I literally got up and danced quietly. Oh my darkness! Its seriously awesome! I loved how it made me feel. It was just... The experience of it was amazing!
And also I love Ivy finding out more about herself. Who she really is and this book also highlighted her strengths. And I also liked the mysterious thing about her teacher Miss Avisrova. All throughout the story I was thinking "What the hell is her problem with Ivy?" Finding out the truth was worth the wait.
I cant believe there's only one My Sister The Vampire book that I have to read. I hope the book 12 comes early!
omg I thought for sure something was gonna happen while olivia pretended to be ivy. I thought Brendan was gonna keep asking her to dress up like her and then he'd get confused and something messy would happen like he would fall for olivia pretending to be ivy
i love it so much i could read it over and over and over and over again.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. IF I HAD THE BOOK
This is another great book in the series, except for a large plot hole. It should have been obvious that Ivy couldn't have traveled to America. It would have meant travelling across half of Europe and then across the Atlantic Ocean. Also Ivy had grown out her fangs in Wallachia and Olivia didn't have fangs Ivy couldn't have regrow those fangs in one night. It is also common knowledge that Ivy has an identical twin. Ivy should have brought up those arguments. The teacher could have later confessed that she knew it hadn't been Ivy but wanted to keep an eye on her in detention and used this incident as an excuse.

The twins may be apart, but they’re still double trouble! And as they start getting used to life without each other, things are just as bratty as ever. Ivy is settling in to Wallachia Academy, but the school’s strict rules are a real pain in the neck. And back in Franklin Grove, Olivia has begun dressing like Ivy – to get into a vampire rock concert!
