Brad Bennedict, bounty hunter and P.I., lives quietly in Montecito, and works in a blender of crime, corruption, and killings. His job is manhunting, and he and his crew at Quiet Ops do it better than anyone in the land. When billionaire Grenwald Stanton calls to report his beautiful twin daughters have been 'ruffied' and hooked on heronie by rapper Jo Jo Bling and that he'll pay large for their return, Brad and his boys, T-Rex and Cocoa are on the hunt, and his main lady bounty hunter, Monique, is in the middle of it all. Then when Stanton is kidnapped without paying, ka ka hits the fan. From gold plated Montecito to the gator and snake filled swamps of Florida, it's a manhunt.
Bob Burton was a successful bounty hunter creating the National Association of Bail Enforcement Agents (NABEA) which established industry standards, professional training and certifications while elevating the public and media perception of Bail Enforcement Agents worldwide. He moved from Bounty Hunting to international child abduction cases until his retirement in 2012.

When your business is fixing other people’s problems, it tends to create difficulties in your own life. Brad “Bulldog” Benedict is the best in the correction of these problems but he may be in too deep with the latest case. Brad calls in all his best cohorts and even a few former enemies to help with rescuing two women caught up in something they cannot seem to escape. Brad has the ability to tweet the system to make the outcome turn his way yet this case is dogging him because nothing is falling into place as planned.
Having great friends makes the case happen but the enemies seem to want to set the night on fire with revenge. Brad is trying to figure out who is working with him as much as against him. The thought that it might be the man who hired him is frightening even to a former Marine.
This is one wild and fantastic read you should be prepared to take on and be mesmerized by from cover-to-cover. Every character is well written with realistic dialogue, the storyline compliments every page with fascinating interaction between every person in the book. The plot is fast paced and this read is complete package of delight.
This was an excellent book. However, it was also one of those 'just-can't-put-it-down' books and so nothing got done in the house until I finished it. And even so, it was way past my bedtime when I got to the last page!
I really like the author's writing style and I found myself immersed in the story, not just reading it but actually feeling like I was right there, in the action.
I chose "Quiet Ops" because it sounded like my kind of book.. action adventure, a bit of blood n guts balanced with just a touch of sex and what sounded like a good story line. I haven't been able to find anything that reached out and grabbed me lately and I thought this might be "it". And I wasn't disappointed, either.
Bob Burton and L. J. Martin have just gained a new fan. Based on this reading experience, I'll be looking for more of their books. Only next time, I won't be starting the book in the late afternoon. Next time, I'll make sure I have plenty of time to finish the book because, if it's anything like "Quiet Ops", I won't want to put it down.
Quiet Ops is reminiscent of the works of Ross MacDonald and Sue Grafton, both of whom were smart enough to disguise Santa Barbara as the fictional Santa Teresa. Burton and Martin have chosen to present Santa Barbara as depicted by Zagat.com with the hero hanging out in places like the Biltmore, Cafe del Sol, Brophy Brothers, and Lucky's on Coast Village Road. They do make one howler, though, when the hero stops off at Walmart to buy an inflatable mattress for some overnight guests. Anyone who has spent any time in Santa Barbara knows that the town eschews big box stores and the closest Walmart is in Ventura.
This is one of the sloppiest books I have ever read. It seemed that every page had at least one grammatical error ("were" for "we're", "its" for "it's", "she put her arms around Cocoa and I"). There are also details that are just plain wrong: "Bel Aire" for "Bel Air" as in Chevrolet Bel Air, referring to Stearns Wharf as "Stern's", calling a sports car a Porch instead of a Porsche. One of the supporting characters is a bartender who is sometimes referred to as Marcus and other times as Marcos. The hero lives in the guest cottage of a retired five star Air Force general who in once scene has been reduced in rank to a colonel. According to his website, Martin has published over thirty books. He should not be making mistakes like this. Quiet Ops has a solid but predictable plot and rookie grammatical and factual errors detract from it.
Bulldog Benidict the former Marine Crops Reconnaissance, has his own company of Private security and bail bonds man, although he likes to find they guys rather than bail them out. Started his day in the normal way, exercise, breakfast, and picking up a couple of cases to fill his payroll and rent. But he did not know all that he was getting into, a simple kidnapping, is never simple when the child is an adult. A simple background check and offering help to a poor deluded soul may be more then he bargained for. Despite his pantheon of great associates, he may find that he is still over his head, or maybe not. This is a great read, utilizing intelligence, action, and an overall assumption that society is making its own problems.
In the course of resolving the return of two 22 year old gorgeous daughters to their parents, you get to meet several interesting characters: Jo Jo Bling, the rich rapper that is holding the girls; Brad Benedict, the former marine who contracts to bring the girls home; T Rex, Brad's war buddy & employee and Cocoa, the 350# Samoan & former pro football defensive end who also works for "Quiet Ops". There are several other beautiful women, cool good guys and really bad guys & gals. I enjoyed it from start to finish.
I liked the book. There was lots of action and women although most of it bland. I cannot say that I am in love with the characters but they are interesting.
I would recommend this to readers who enjoy action books with strong male characters although it is not on the caliber of Jack Reacher or Mitch Rapp which is my measuring stick.
Could be better if more time was spent describing the scenes and a little less of the attempt at convincing me of the macho nature of the characters in the story. A series of events with loose connection made for difficult understanding from the middle on. I will read others to see if it stays the same.
This is one adventure story any reader shouldn't miss out on. The story line is intriguing, the plot is full of twists that will keep you guessing till the end. Finished this book in less than 4 hours
I really liked this book. The characters and plot were good and there was plenty of action. However, the author needs a new editor. I don't know if it's just the Kindle edition, but there were so many typos and grammatical errors, I almost put it down. Almost, but not quite.
This book was a fast-paced fun read, but the author did seem to lose focus on the story from time to time. Such as character's names or vehicles they were driving.
