Avengers Fan Fiction: Loki/Tony Stark
It started with a message, a late-night visit, and a God of Mischief in Tony's bed. A story of trust, trickery, unwilling aid and inevitable attraction.
This story takes into account the events and characterisation present in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but was started before The Avengers opened in cinemas. Due to this, no heavy movie references are made. Thus, instead of Stark Tower being a renovated base of operations for the Avengers, they have a separate headquarters.
The continuity could be placed about four years after Loki's attack on Earth. Loki is known to the Avengers by way of his regular plots against Thor.

Oh my fucking GOD!
How good is this writer? Who the hell is she? Please tell me she has published something.
What a crisp, sharp, understated, powerful writing style. Emotions, subtext, nuance just TINGLE behind almost every line she is giving us. Not a single word too much.
Beautiful, beautiful use of language. Unpretentious and highly effective off-hand characterization of all the main and side characters.
Combined with warm-hearted wit and an AMAZING knack for intelligent and hilarious dialogue, this right here is way better than most of the published work I've read.
And to top it all off there is PLOT, a lot of plot, and it is intricate and perfectly paced.
I'm amazed.
Seriously people, who is this Goddamnhella?
ETA: I'm not in any way invested in the Avenger fandom, so this story carried its emotional weight without me knowing anything about the backstory and characters - so yes, I'm blown away.

Complicated, and messy just the way a story about these two characters should be. I loved that the author didn't feel the need to completely change Loki into some sort of sweet, loveable character. That she stayed true to who, and what he is, and still made me buy his connection with Tony. The plot was complex, and interesting, and I love the role the other Avengers, and Shield played in the story. It wasn't just Tony, and Loki in a vacuum, and I appreciate that. Writers like this are the ones that have really made this one of my favorite fandoms.

Do you like Tony Stark? Do you like Loki? Do you like perfect plot and outstanding writing? Then you FUCKING NEED TO READ THIS!!!!!!!
Yes, it is a slash fanfiction, but it's not just that. It's THE slash fanfiction. My irl friends (who are not so much into slash) read it and even THEY agreed that it's amazing.
The plot is great, the writing is awesome, EVERYONE is in character, EVERYTHING that happens is believable and just... this is the mother of all frostiron fics. This could easily become a movie. Yes, it is THAT good.
Even if you're not into fanfiction and/or this pairing, I urge you to at least give it a try. I've read thousands of fanfictions in my life and none of the ones I read was ever as good as Off The Record.
And I'm just SO GLAD that I have a copy of it on my hands. Not so many people do, but worry not!! Even if you don't, you can easily read it online on AO3 ;)

4.5 stars. A plot heavy fanfic but very well written, sadly the sex scenes are infrequent and mainly off camera. Tony Stark and Loki are my two favourite Marvel characters in any case. I enjoyed the two mini fics that succeed this one too.

June 10, 2020This was really good. Also very polished. I don't mean that in a patronizing way at all -- I know many readers are leery of fanfic. This had a solid plot (well, as solid as most comic book plots, anyway), was well-paced, and I didn't notice any typos or formatting issues.
Some familiarity with the Marvel characters is helpful, but you don't need to have seen the films (the author has a note mentioning that it was begun before they came out and is based on the comics). I wasn't familiar with the villainous Amora but didn't have any trouble following.

I enjoyed the hell out of this free fanfiction, and I am not even a big Avengers fan. Well-written. Not heavy on sex (not totally fade to black, but not detailed either) but what's there is quite satisfying. Which is not to say that I wouldn't have preferred more *smile*
Everyone seemed in character, nothing was too easy, and the way the relationship developed worked. There were a few editing errors but they didn't detract from the story. It's a longer fanfic, but the journey to the end is worthwhile.
P.S. Read for a superhero challenge--very glad that I did!

Wow this was so good—I honestly don’t remember how I stumbled upon it but I’m GLAD I DID. And I’m not into the marvel universe that much, they’re cool movies but Im not even remotely invested and I didn’t even know tony and Loki were shipped!! It was easier to read once I pictured everything in an alternative reality bc before that my mind kept going:

So it's 2021 and I am back to reading Frostiron (tank you Loki tv series) what a time be alive. Since I read this fic in a book form, printed and all I'm adding it here, nobody can stop me.
I finally got to read this fic and it's just sooo good, definitely one of the best if not the best Frostiron fics I have read. The plot, the characterization, everything was on point. Bless Hella and her writing skills.

Honestly, I'm pretty against fanfiction (at least without an ISBN) being listed on Goodreads. There are plenty of sites to catalogue your read fic (I recommend Pinboard.in) that a book website doesn't need to be clogged up with it.
With that said, this is one of the best fics I read in the MCU and I came across the listing here and thought I might as well write a quick review. Fic author 'goddamnhella' is one of my favourite writers and tends to write sprawling epics with very well-developed plot and believable characterisations. If you're a fan of Loki and Thor in the MCU and their interactions with the other canon characters, definitely look up their other works on A03.
And then rate it and write a review there rather than here.

Yes, this is fanfiction. But you know what? This is one of the best books I have read this year. So a) deal with it b) read it. Just ... read it. You don't even have to know who the characters are (the person who recommended it has not seen the movies).

April 21, 2015Well written Avengers fic. It helped me realize that my interest in the Loki/ Tony pairing just isn't very big and certainly not enough for more than 90.000 words even if the author is good. I managed to finish it, though.

This story has me completely sold on this pairing. The beginning has some flaws, but the quality of the writing increases with the progression of the story. Dialogue is spot on. Tony's characterization is perfect, Loki's is too for the most part. He does occasionally act in a manner that is very slightly OOC, but the brilliant dialogue helps to mask this, and it's never enough to detract from the story.

An incredible novel with amazing writing (it could be a published book), great pace and compelling characterization. The author knows how to be fair to the original characters and, at the same time, give them her own spin.

Yeah, yeah, its a fanfiction. But ignore that and focus on the fact that it is a beautifully written book with an amazing story, wonderful romance, and a world that you can find yourself in. One of my favorite works of fiction.

I can't get into a lot of tony/loki fanfics cuz Loki turns into a super sweet character that turns out of character for him. So I really loved this fic that it kept his character as a trickster and god of lies. Loved the romance

I don't quite know how to describe this book, but I can assure you that it is a fantastic fanfiction, and goes way beyond that. It has a romance that will literally take your breath away, and many scenes that will sucker punch you into an emotional mess.
Having read the author's other works, I have to say that she is quite talented. What is more, her old fics are just as good as her new ones, and I have to say that she has one of the most consistent prose-writing talent I've ever seen in an author.
The main characters are perfect for each other - snarky and sexy. Give it a try, and make the judgement for yourself is all I can say. :D

I really liked this, and it was interesting to see an alternative leading man (Loki!) all the other ironman fics i've read have been steve/toni (i think all by sci-fi girl, and they are much less violent, and have a bit less angst.
