A Terrible Love was a heart pounding, panty dropping, suspenseful read and I LOVED every second of it!! I’m still experiencing the high from the adrenaline rush.

I wasn’t expecting to completely devour this book but I did. All the while my heart was racing from the first page to the very last one.

The story was not only well written but had ALL of the characteristics that I check off when finding that “good read”.

description

• One or more HOT alpha bad boys
• Terrific sidekick/best friend
• Hot chemistry
• Great story line
• Danger
• Secrets
• Likeable heroine
• Twists
• Complete story - no cliffhanger!!

Meet our heroine, Jewell MacLeod she is in disguise and on the run from her monster of a stepbrother, Thaddeus MacLeod. Jewell is the stepdaughter of the South Dakota Senator and presidential candidate. She changes her name, her hair and eye color and flees the only life she knows after a horrific event takes place.

As a reader we meet up with Jess two years later attending the University of Washington living under the radar until her best friend signs her up for an audition for the Seattle Ballet. Jess meets several hot guys and some scary ones and the story unfolds from there.

This is how I picture my new book boyfriend Devin Castile. He is more than yummy and oh wow there are several off the charts scenes that he is featured in. He is the perfect combination of dark and sexy.

description

" I loved him and that is all.

And Everything."

As for how the story unfolds – I can’t really explain without giving anything away so let’s just say you’ll have to click the purchase button one more time for A Terrible Love and find out for yourself! I promise you won’t be disappointed!

4.5 OUTRAGEOUSLY GOOD STARS

When I first saw this book there was just something about it that was calling to me. The cover seemed to scream “READ ME”!!! So I decided to squeeze it in and see what it was about. HOLY COW am I glad I did. It was a surprisingly intense, dramatically heart stopping read. It gave me tingles, turned me on and freaked me out all at the same time. The prologue was freaky...

description

seriously I felt my palms start to sweat a little. It definitely started the book out perfectly.

When I started reading I had no idea what the book was about. I was basically browsing Goodreads (my favorite thing to do) and saw my friend Jennifer's rating. She had given it 5 stars and I KNEW at that moment that I had to read it ASAP. I started it that night and finished it ridiculously fast. I found once I opened the book I could not put it down. Even though I was drawn in from the beginning the start of the first couple chapters were a little rough. I loved the prologue but felt that there were too many characters introduced too quickly and honestly there were a couple moments that I felt a little lost. I thought "HOLY SHIT" how many guys is this chick going to have in her life. We meet Mitch, Devin, Brad and Brock all within a very short period of time. It was most definitely hot boy overload. (which I guess in theory isn't really a problem...I mean are there ever enough hot book boys?!? NO, not really).

Once I got over the initial shock of all of the men and started reading it was like I couldn't read it fast enough. The authors writing was thoroughly addicting.

“The secret has been killing me. Taking small chunks out of who I am until I wasn't me anymore. I was nothing” - Jess

We meet Jess -(her real name is Jewell Macleod)- who is on the run and living life incognito under an alias. She’s the stepdaughter of a current presidential candidate. She lives her life trying to escape from her psychotic step brother Thad (Thaddeus McLeod.) Thad has done something extremely horrible to Jess’s best friend Faith and she’s doing everything in her power to not be found by him. She’s going to College at the University of Washington where her best friend signs her up for a ballet audition without her knowledge. You see Jess aka Jewell is a dancer. It’s in her blood and really it’s all she’s ever wanted to do. Well at this audition she meets Mitch who is gorgeous and sweet. She’s smitten with him from the beginning until she meets Devin Castile aka Cas. This starts a little love triangle that makes your head spin.

description

Cas is a sexy bad boy (yeah he has a motorcycle...let the swooning begin). He’s very dominant and tough, very alpha male! He’s a womanizing asshole and doesn’t settle down. Definitely the kind of man that us women dream about.

Castile is like an unmovable force. A hurricane on a course, destination known only to it. The trajectory likely to change at anytime. Taking anyone or anything in it’s path. As I look into those dark eyes, I know I am in the eye of the storm that is Devin Castile. - Jess

Mitch is the good boy. The safe choice. He’s also super sexy, very attentive and wants to win Jess’s heart. He wants to be the knight in shining armor for her. Mitch knows that she has secrets, things from her past that she keeps close and guarded. He doesn’t care though he’s willing to do whatever it takes to win her affection.

BUT this plot has twists and turns. Things are not what they seem!! Situations happen that leave your head spinning and your heart pulsating. You’ll scream at your kindle, pace your house, swoon and fan yourself. It’s a full blown awesome reading experience. This is definitely not your run of the mill bubblegum romance. It’s fun, fast paced, sexy and addictive.

Overall I would highly recommend this if you’re looking for a fast read that packs a punch. I can’t wait to read other books by this author.

4 ‘Cas’ lovin’ stars!!!!!

A fantastic read with angst, drama, suspense, and a steamy love triangle!!!

Jess (aka Jewell) has been through a lot. Two years ago, she has to run away from her family. Her parents are influential and her step brother is a psycho. She has changed her name, hair color, eye color, everything about her. She has spent the last two years living under the radar. That is about to change.

And for the fist time in two years I really begin to live. The secret has been killing me. Taking small chunks out of who I am until I wasn’t me anymore.

Jess/Jewell (In her real life form ;)
 photo fa181747-be15-41ac-8f6a-11859f245b99_zps6365fbab.jpg

Jess has a great best friend, Carlie, who convinces her to try out for the local ballet company. Her life changes even more that day. She has other friends- like Brad in biology(kind of loved this guy!!!) but Carlie is the only one she is really close with. The day of her audition, she meets Mitch (La Hunk) who clearly has the hots for her. Mitch seems nice and safe. That day, she also sees him for the first time. He wants her, but he is not nice and safe. He is sexy, and dangerous.

Devin ‘Cas’ Castile
 photo 95269138-9196-4444-adc5-6147816ee799_zps9f9b7796.jpg
I’m going to steer clear of him. Devin Castile is all sex-and-hotness wrapped in a dangerous package.

Jess had spent so much time hiding away, she decided now she would finally live. She was still being careful, but she was making more friends, dating, and doing the one thing she has always loved. Dancing.
 photo de2e14de-78e1-40a5-9a51-abe7b33873eb_zps165b9c8e.jpg

I guess I’m giving into life. It’s like the ocean breaking against the rocks: it simply wears me down until I give in.
It was only a matter of time.

She really struggles making a choice between Mitch and Cas. Mitch seems really sweet. He is safe to her, kind and then there was Cas. Cas was dangerous. She felt something for him. And when they were together it was electric. The problem... he didn’t want a serious relationship, and she was starting to fall for him. Hard.

Nothing that hot can last; it’d be spontaneous combustion.

“Sounds messed up, intense... dysfunctional.”

“It is, but who ever said that love makes sense?”

“Love is inexplicable.”

There is a lot going on in the story, and I don’t want to give anything away- but the last 15-20% was intense! Just know that I loved it and would highly recommend! Plus its a stand alone- no clifffhanger :D Read and enjoy!!!

“We’re terrible together.”

“It’s not about true love, Jess.”
“If it were love then it’s a terrible love.”

Well, I guess this one just wasn't for me. I felt like I knew almost nothing about Jess or Cas. I didn't connect to them, or feel their connection to each other. The last 15% or so was interesting, but the twist felt so out of the blue, it was disjointed. I also wanted to know what happened to Brad. He was kinds of "there" (though I don't understand his purpose at all) and then he was just gone. Never to me mentioned again.

Not for me.

This is a review that hurts to write because I can't say that I enjoyed any part of "A Terrible Love" in the aftermath. When you have characters that are threadbare and have very little to hold onto, that's one measure. When you have abrasive characters who are constantly at each others throats and championed for that violence, that's another. When you have a very thin and unbelievable plot, that's yet another problem. And yet another thing to consider is that your convoluted writing can throw the whole story out of balance. All of these things, and more, took away from my experience of reading my first novel from Marata Eros.

Where to begin? It's worth saying that the premise of this book isn't one without merit or intrigue. The blurb is more enticing than the actual product of the book though. Jess is a young woman running away from a past that involved one of her friends being killed on her behalf. Plagued with guilt, she has to adjust to a new life under a new identity. Part of that means leaving some of the things she left behind in her old life - including a passion for dancing, which contradicts her profile to lay low.

Her best friend isn't buying that though, as she signs Jess up for an audition that leads to a plethora of connections, including two young men who vie for her affections. I seriously had a hard time getting behind any of the relationships in this novel, because half the time Jess would be more willing to focus on how hot the guys were rather than their problematic actions, and the other half of the time she would blame herself for their unwanted advances, only to turn around and say she wanted and needed them. I couldn't make head for tails what this character's motivations were and it bothered the heck out of me.

Don't even get me started on the love interests. Between Mitch (the supposed good guy) and Cas (the bad boy lover), I wanted to throttle them both for their abrasiveness towards the heroine and jealous streaks. It felt like a needless toggle for drama and with very little heart or consequence to it. It's made worse when you realize the connections these men have to Jess and the peril she's in from the threat of a serial killer - the same serial killer who killed her friend. There were sexual harassment and violent rape attempts made through the book that made me sick to read, especially for the glorified elements of it.

The convoluted narrative style didn't make this work any easier to follow. Many times, the sentence structure and substitution of words did not fit the narrative voice of the character and threw me out of the story. Where some simple phrases were used on one end of the story, other parts of it had Jess speaking more mature, and it was quite inconsistent throughout the work.

I would say that this work pretty much reminded me of Beautiful Disaster with the backdrop of a serial killer and a misogynistic, needy FBI agent who manipulated circumstances and the heroine just to get justice for killing someone they were both connected to. And how they managed to find love and have all that glorified "you say no, but your body says yes" sex is beyond me.

I did read the sequel to see what it had to provide apart from this story, and I'll expand on my thoughts separate from that. But I would not recommend this at all.

Overall score: 0.5/5 stars

Note: I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, from the publisher Gallery Books.

Totally loved this book! I was hooked from the first page!

Jewell MacLeod is a victim and hiding from her horrific past under the new name Jess Mackey. Jess meets hunky Mitch Maverick and the hot bad boy Devin Castile and is torn between her desires for Devin and her friendship with Mitch. The sexual tension between the characters are hot!

I like that it is told from the point of view of each of the characters, it gives you different views of the story from their perspective.

This is full of love, drama and suspense and will engage you in the storyline but also keeps you guessing by the constant twist and turns to the schemes.

Highly recommend to all!

This is probably best described as a new adult contemporary romance with a bit of suspense and had a bit of a Beautiful Disaster vibe to it.

After a traumatic event, Jess, our heroine, his hiding out at college under an assumed identity in fear of of her life. She’s keeping secrets from everyone, even her best friend. She’s a former ballerina and hasn’t been dancing for fear of discovery but gets coerced into a dance trial and dancing starts to bring her unwelcome and uninvited attention.

Our hero is Devin Castille (Cas), dark brooding and gorgeous tells Jess that he only wants her for sex and that he is not prepared to share her with anyone else. Jess is also dating Mitch and Cas does not like it.

Jess gets herself into all kinds of trouble – gets slapped around the face a couple of times and find herself constantly threatened in dangerous situations. Thankfully, she seems to have an entourage of heroes following her around to rescue her – Cas, Mitch, Brad.

I thought this was OK but not great – didn’t really find the situations that believable and didn’t fully understand what the characters were truly up to by the end of the novel. Cas is a pretty awesome hero though and he’s definitely going to hit the spot for a lot of readers.

3 stars new adult romantic suspense

I so wanted to have LOVED this book, and for a few chapters I promise I had. But I just liked it

WHAT I LIKED:
THE COVER - so beautiful!
Love triangle - Yay!
Tattoed Bad Boy who rides a Harley - *fan herself Devin YUMMIE Castile.
A likeable whiny heroine - you don't feel like punching her - *sigh in relief
It's well written (despite the need of some editing for punctuation and spelling).
It has a dynamic pace

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:

There were so many inconsistencies...

For example: (And I hope my few examples won't spoil the story for the next readers.)
- Jewel says she works at a place. She never goes to work, though, and I don't think she mentions quitting her job before starting the ballet classes. And then you ask, what difference does it make? And I say, if it doesn't, why bother mentioning it?

What about the Biology Test? (I know this one is not crucial, but, AGAIN, why mention it then?). Anyways, Did she pass?

And so many others...

It was a QUICK and FUN read.

RECOMMEND IT.

Review: A Terrible Love by Marata Eros
“Her pleas go unheeded. I bear witness in a dark locked closet; shamed, terrified and soaking in my own sweat and tears, I hear what he does and I can’t stop it. Faith saved me, and my apathy murdered her.”

Jess Mackey is a sophomore at the University of Washington, far away from home. She tries to blend in, stay anonymous amongst her peers. With dark blonde hair and blue eyes, no one could possibly know she’s really Jewell MacLeod, daughter of a Presidential hopeful, and missing for the last two years.

“His smile flashes in the night and he holds out his large hand. I slip mine inside his and he pulls me to him, placing a gentle peck on my lips and I sigh. Mitch is safe.”

Mitch Maverick is gorgeous; glacial colored eyes, head full of dark, shaggy hair, athletic build, and what’s better; he’s a nice guy, a gentleman. Jess is undeniably attracted to him from the very first time he comes near her. As he attaches her dance audition number to her chest, she realizes that it’s been long enough. It’s time to date again, share her life, at least a little; surely Mitch would be perfect for her.

“Castile is like an unmovable force. A hurricane on a course destination known only to it. The trajectory likely to change at any time. Taking anything or anyone in its path. As I look into those dark eyes, I know I am in the eye of the storm that is Devin Castile.”

Dangerous, relentless, “a hurricane” of a man; Devin Castile wants Jess. He wants her body that is, no relationship, just sex. Never did he think he would have such a connection with her and Cas will do anything to have her. She doesn’t know it but Jess needs protection and Cas will do anything to do just that…even risk exposing himself and ruining all of the carefully laid plans of others.

“’I’m not a prize,’ I say, ‘something to be won or…whatever.’ I hold my hands up to the side of me. ‘I’m just a girl that likes a guy.’ ‘Two guys,’ he probes with uncanny accuracy. ‘Actually…yes,’ I say. I don’t share. ‘May the best man win, then, Jess.’”

Game on…

This is more than just a game, more than just a love triangle even; this story stems so much deeper. Jess is afraid and mistrusting. Because of her past, she struggles to move forward, to live, to love. One man can help her, one man will hurt her…but it’s more than just her heart on the line.

“They recognize it for what it is and take heed, avoiding the area where a lone woman has come full circle…”

Oh. My. Gosh! This book carries so much of everything I love in a story, I can barely form words. From the very first page, I was completely enthralled and I didn’t put it down until I turned the last one…wishing for more! This story is superbly written with both the author’s use of language as well as character development & plot. My heart leapt, it ached, and it broke. I laughed and cried…there were times when I held my breath in anticipation of what would come next. This is not just a love story, but also a mystery…a mystery of the girl, the boy, and Faith.

An AMAZING read—I give this tale 5 Terribly Lovely Stars!

“Malevolence hangs just out of reach, waiting for its companion, opportunity.”

With A Terrible Love, Marata Eros delivers a sinister yet erotic plot casted with captivating characters that twist and turn the story at precisely timed moments. The initial chapters immediately drew me in, but it was the ultimate direction of the novel that kept me furiously turning the ePages. This is an original and intriguing story that provided constant intrigue and excitement, which was exactly what I was in the mood for!

In A Terrible Love, we meet Jewell MacLeod who flees from her wealthy and politically recognized family because of her dangerous step-brother Thad. She escapes with a dark secret and a vow to seek vengeance. Disguising herself as Jess Mackey, she enrolls as a student in a Seattle University. Her conscious effort to remain ambiguous begins to unravel when she makes the mistake of auditioning for a lead part in a ballet production and catching the attention of Devin Castile and Mitch Maverick. As this trio of characters engage in a sensual dance of deception, Jewell opens the door to her past and paves the way for her step-brother to strike against her.

“…something that encourages a predator to attack… opportunity.”

First off, let me just say that Jewell and Cas make one explosive pair!! In the beginning, I felt their relationship was extremely volatile and full of combustible emotion, but as the details began to unravel, it became clear why Cas responded to Jewell the way he did. Once it was all said and done, their undeniable chemistry provided the fuel to prove these two were meant for each other.

“We’re terrible together… If it were love then it’s a terrible love…~Jewell”

Aside from the captivating main characters, I have to admit that I struggled a bit with the dialog among the various cast members. At times, it felt confusing and incomplete. Almost like thoughts strung together and disguised as conversation. There were several passages I found myself re-reading in order to try and figure out if I missed a statement or a few words. After a few instances, I realized that the dialog between the characters was a bit sloppy and confusing.

In addition, I really came to like a few of the secondary characters including Brad and Amber. However, I don’t think Eros quite knew what to do with them because they simply vanished from the scene rather suddenly. I would have liked to see what happened with these two.

Overall, Marata Eros kept my attention with her intriguing story despite the few flaws along the way. I enjoyed the twists and turns that she weaved into her dark tale A Terrible Love. Well done!

Jewell MacLeod life is filled with secrets, deadly secrets. Sometimes the deepest and scariest secrets are caused by your family. Jewell’s step brother and the senator’s son, Thaddeus MacLeod is a monster. The only way for Jewell to escape from this monster was to hide and become someone else. Jewell became Jess Mackey, a student at the University of Washington. New hair color, contacts to hide her eyes, always keeping her head down and hiding in plan sight, Jess has spent 2 years carefully concealed … Until the day, her friend Carlie pushes her into audition for the Seattle Ballet. Breaking all the rules of staying out of sight, her ballet talent out shines all the other dancers and she finds herself in the limelight.

Jess not only gained the notice of the Seattle Ballet but also the hunky, Mitch Maverick, and the campus bad boy, Devin Castile. Pretty much totally opposites, Mitch is offering a refined relationship but Devin, he wants to know Jess bodily and doesn’t hide his obvious desires. Torn between her desires for Devin and her building friendship with Mitch, Jess’s carefully constructed secrets are unraveling. Jewell MacLeod can’t let her secrets out because she knows if Thad ever discovers her, she will not survive. But the closer she grows with Mitch and Devin, she realizes she’s not the only one with secrets, deadly secrets.

A Terrible Love blew me away. The strength of this story lingers in your mind long after your finish reading. A young woman with no where to turn, finds the perseverance to break out on her own to survive and thrive. You couldn’t help but become emotionally wrapped right into this amazing plot. The sexual chemistry was explosive, the characters riveting and the story completely original. 5 stars for A Terrible Love.

Jess Mackey has escaped, but she has spent the last two years in hiding. She ran from the life she knew and had to leave any ties to her old life behind. But a chance at dancing again is something that secretly she never let go of. Between dancing and the mysterious Devin Castile, she starts to live a little more each day. But living might just cause her guard to slip.

Devin Castile is the mysterious Senior. He's a transfer and already has quite the reputation, but when his eyes lock with Jess's there is no denying the magnetic pull that is there. Just after Jess meets Mitch, who she considers a relationship with - her body can't seem to stop being drawn to Devin. And when you are trying your best to stay invisible - having two men after your affection can bring some much unwanted attention.

But with an agreement with Devin, she finds that a casual relationship is not easy to maintain. And for Devin, right now it is all that can be allowed. As they both hold in their secrets - they can't escape the crumbling of the world around them.

This was much different than I expected, but the surprise was a good one. There was enough suspense and plot twists that kept you guessing until the end. Although some parts seemed obvious, the whole puzzle was never revealed early. I found this to be a nice break from just a typical romance or even the romance/suspense story lines. I almost wished we got more of a change of POV for parts of it - but understand why that could not happen.

I really liked all the characters in this story, and felt that even those that didn't get much page time were easy to connect with instantly.

4.5 ‘INTERESTING TURN OF EVENTS’ STARS

I really loved this book, it’s still running around in my head, and I don’t really think I can put down complete and coherent sentences yet. So, here are my initial thoughts:

• Sexy cover that screams READ ME!

• New bad boy on the block...... Devin Castile. Leather + tattoo + motorcycle. “Devin Castile is all sex-and-hotness wrapped up in a dangerous package.”

• Fan-fucking-tastic Prologue. This one is dark and powerful.

• You don't even have to venture farther than the first 20% of the prologue to be hooked!

• I couldn’t put it down.

The story literally starts on page one and saying anything more would really ruin it. There's a bit of mystery, suspense, angst, sexiness, sweetness, love triangle, pushy best friend. And, at the 85% mark there was a huge 'oh shit' moment for me. It came out of nowhere like a hard sharp left turn. Whoa!!!!

You really just need to run over to Amazon and one-click this one for yourself.

5 Nail-Biting Stars!

What a fantastic read! This book had me on the edge of my seat and glued to my e-reader from the first page...and it never let go! I devoured this book, I couldn't put it down. The further you got in to the story, the more questions you had. I had to keep reading to see how it would all play out. This book had it all....action, suspense, humor, love, drama.

I can't say too much without giving away the best parts of the story and it makes it so much more exciting to experience it all in the moment. Read.This.Book.People.

The sex was smoldering....thank you Devin Castile. Devin was a HOT alpha male and I couldn't get enough of him.

Highly recommend this book and I will definitely be checking out other things by this author.

PS--NO CLIFFHANGER! Thank you Marata Eros for that!! Thank you!!!

I was hooked from the painfully dark first page! The background for the story was set up with brutality and the images were stark, young Jewell is hiding in a closet while her best friend becomes the victim of her sadistic step-brother's rage. The next scene is the bleakness of the funeral for Faith, and Jewell resolves to flee, change everything about herself and start a new life.

Skipping ahead two years into that new life, with the same pain and guilt that has had time to age and ferment, the girl now called Jess attends college far from her old reality, just another anonymous student, or so she thought. Through a series of innocent events, Jess becomes caught between two men, both seemingly vying for her attention. Mitch is clean-cut, handsome, charming, almost too good to be true, while Devin has that 'bad boy' image going strong, hard-muscled, larger than life, dark and magnetic. As Jess said, they sucked the oxygen out of the air with their presence!

Is either one right for Jess? Or do they represent the unraveling of the life she has woven? After all, everyone has secrets....everyone...

Jess is completely awesome, I loved her from the beginning. She is strong, yet lonely, never feeling whole. She deserved better than the cards life dealt her.

Mitch was good, almost too good, but that all worked out perfectly as the story progressed!

Devin....HOLY Alphas, Batman! Holy freakin' hot alphas! Holy freakin' hot alphas with a heart! Holy freakin' hot alphas without a painfully damaged past!

The sexual tension was hot, but not over powering. It blended into the heart-wrenching story perfectly. There were even a few tension breakers throughout that helped keep the story 'real.' This is so much more than a contemporary romance, it has drama and suspense, with enough mystery to allow the reader to fill in any alluded to blanks... sometimes a doorknob is more than just a doorknob.

Genius writing! A beautifully told, MUST READ! Five Stars is not enough!

This was a disappointing read. I couldn't connect with any of the characters and the story was at times confusing.

None of the characters were fleshed out, including the narrator Jess Mackey. She wasn't relatable and I had a hard time believing her history/storyline. Devin Castile seemed more caveman than mysterious hero. I didn't think he was hot nor could I see this chemistry between Cas and Jess Mackey. He would say all there was between them was sex, they would hook up (once in a janitor closet), then he wouldn't call or talk to her for days until they would hook up again. All the while she is trying to date Mitch Maverick, convincing herself that he is safe and the safe choice and so much safer than the dangerous Castille (Yes she repeats this multiple times). Mitch doesn't care she's sleeping with Cas, he wants her too!
As for the other characters, none of their interactions with each other felt natural. One of the characters she seemed pretty close to just disappears at one point, never mentioned again.

I had a hard time getting through parts of this book, though it did start to pick up toward the end, and then I was glad to have finished it.

But I did think the cover was lovely.

A Terrible Love
by Marata Eros
This is Ms. Eros' maiden voyage into the Contemporary Romance genre. Oh my Lordy Lou people!!!! If she were playing cricket, she'd have hit a six, into the back row of the crowd at the MCG!! (Melbourne Cricket Ground)
For those who have no idea what I'm talking about....the ball was hit out of the field; a hole in one; TOUCHDOWN!....you get the picture I think!

I know you're probably thinking: "Settle down Ange, really?" ....My answer to you: "Hell Yeah!"
I sat in my recliner for a solid 6hrs reading this baby! 2am came and went when I finished, and it took me forever to get to sleep because I was so hyped up! I loved ATL!!!

Jess is in hiding; trying to escape an horrific past; getting by, by denying herself any real happiness, punishing herself for events that she holds herself accountable for.
This poor soul has had a hell of a time. Following her struggle to allow herself happiness, was pretty emotional. I felt like I was her, and was able to be a part of her thought processes. (Damn my empathetic side!!! *shakes fist* sob sob!)

Devin is the infamous black leathered Harley riding campus bad boy, with a reputation for treating women like disposable wipes-uses them roughly once & throws them away.
OMG! I found my new fictional heart throb ladies!!! He is to die for, to say the least!! The song "Closerl" by Nine Inch Nails comes to mind! Nudge nudge, wink wink! ;)

Mitch is the polar opposite to Devin. Light to dark, good to bad, naughty to nice...he's almost too good to be true!

Carlie is Jess's only concession to her self inflicted abstinence; she's her bestie. And let me tell you, she is a cracker! (That is a good thing Non Aussie peeps) The one liners and sass that come out of this girl had me ROFLMAO!
She brightens even the darkest scenes, with her inappropriate comments and wit! But "brings it" when its needed. Totally my kind of girl!!

I am a huge fan of The Druid Breeders and Dara Nichols stories by Ms. Eros. Her knack of giving us Epic story lines amongst HOT, gritty, edgy & steamy sex scenes always leaves me wanting more! ATL doesn't disappoint! We get to experience all that, with the addition of a fiery punch packing passion that stole my breath away. Can you say "Chemistry" people's?!

ATL takes us on a young women's emotional journey to self forgiveness and discovery. Jess's love for dancing is a huge part of the story. Ms Eros' knowledge in the art of ballet shows through and I thought her delivery of the dancing scenes was amazing. She painted the scene perfectly; I had it playing across my eyes as I read.
Suspense and intrigue are in full force as you're left speculating on the different turn of events. I couldn't make up my mind which way the story was going to go, until it happened! I Love that in a book!!

Ok, so basically what my rambling all comes down to is that I totally loved this book! Ms. Eros has out done herself, giving us an addictive, edgy, suspense filled romance that has you laughing so hard you think you're gonna pee yourself, to crying so much your throat hurts, to fist pumping with victory!

I give A Terrible Love 5 stars and hope that Marata decides to write another contemporary romance, because I have no doubt she has plenty more stories to share with us, in her!

Jenny: So, this is another one we knew nothing about going into it and what an enjoyable, mysterious, suspenseful and hot read it turned out to be.

We meet Jewell Macleod aka Jess Mackey who is in hiding from her past, specifically her crazy step brother Thadeus who is hell bent on revenge over something that happened a couple of years back. Jess has many secrets and trying to keep them under wraps becomes harder and harder as she begins to let people in.

Gitte, even though at times, Jess frustrated me, on the whole I liked her. She admitted her failings…which mostly had to do with the hot and gorgeous Devin Castile (more on him later) and you really felt the conflict she was going through over her desire to keep herself under the radar but also submit to her desires for Devin

“the reality was the distraction of Devin Castile and what he brought to the table, or didn’t bring…has changed my focus. It’s moved from survival and anonymity to wanting to be with him. On whatever pathetic terms he dictated."

Gitte: Yeah I really enjoyed this one as well Jenny. I thought it was different; it was sexy, dark and addictive. I couldn’t really figure out at first whether I liked our heroine or not but I think it was because it took me a while to get used to the writing style of this Author. I did feel for Jess as she truly was a victim of circumstances outside her control and she lived with guilt and in fear. She was trying to live her life but too many obstacles prevented her from doing so. The minute she tries to, her past catches up with her in the form of Devin and Mitch.

Jenny: Devin Castile is our hot, gorgeous, mysterious, alpha womanising hero. Yes, this guy oozes sex and is one sexy man! Loved him and I’m guessing you did too Gitte.

“you can and you will Jess”……hmmm that line just about had me combusting!

It’s hard to say too much about this story because I don’t want to give anything away. A lot happens, a few mysteries are solved and there is suspense aplenty. It was a little far- fetched at times, especially towards the end but it was a nice escape and I did enjoy it.

I enjoyed the intensity between Jess and Devin. These two had chemistry by the truck load and I did find myself longing for the moments these two spent together because I enjoyed their interaction the most in the book.

“He moves like he is meant to be against my body, pressed up against me” …yep, the chemistry is h.o.t between these two characters.

Whilst I did find some scenes a little over the top and the writing a bit odd at times, it didn’t detract from the overall enjoyment of the story and I did enjoy this book. I definitely couldn’t put it down and had to know the end!

Gitte: Seriously I fell in love with Devin Jenny. He was rough, tough, mysterious and wow did he do the whole controlling dirty mouth thing well!! And yeah you are spot on, this is one easy to spoil story because the crux of it almost begins on page one. It is full of suspense, twists and heat and the chemistry was written really well. I agree, the writing took some time getting used to but it didn’t spoil it for me either and I pretty much finished this book in one sitting because I needed to know how it would play out!

This one had such strong potential but it fell completely flat. The writing style was disjointed and seemed to jump from scene to scene...even if the scene we were just in left you hanging.

I felt bad for the heroine, Jess/Jewel, but more times than not, it seemed like she was encouraging trouble to come find her rather than moving forward in her life. One prime example...the door knob on her dorm room was broken and it was taken campus maintenance forever to fix it. So if you were on the run because of something horrible your stepbrother did, would you let a broken doorknob go? Hell no!!! And that is one example of Jess/Jewel doing things that just made it hard to feel sorry for her.

Then here was Cas. He wanted her, claimed it was just for sex, and basically treated her like dirt. Then we find out who he really is and what his feelings are and the two Cas' don't mesh at all. I get that his job required a certain amount of acting, but at some point (especially given how long he'd been doing his job) you'd think it's be pretty hard to put on the dickhead act and not make your feelings know.

I'm bummed this wasn't the edge of your seat book that it had the potential to be.

I finished A Terrible Love by Marata Eros last night. For the first time I am completely at a loss how to even rate or review this book. The weird thing is I really, really liked this book but I cannot ignore the fact that it wasn’t very well written. Before I read it I saw a review from someone who said that the dialogue was off & didn’t make sense a lot of the time. That person was absolutely right; I saw that as well & still liked the book anyway. So even though I am confused & might feel differently tomorrow I will say 3.5- 4 stars for me. I hope when you ladies read it, you will let me know what you think.

Jess Mackey had a brutal life. She does the only thing she can do to save herself. She runs and hides. Determined to never be found she tries to close herself off. However, soon cracks start to break through her shell and slowly and surely people start finding ways in. But only a little. Until Cas comes along and completely blows her shell to smithereens.

So you're a horror fan who secretly adores some hot NA/YA contemp romances. (Ok, so maybe it's not really a secret anymore). Then this is the contemp romance for you! Oh my GAWD I have never seen so much brutal gore plaster the walls of a romance! Ever. I'm like in slasher/steamy almost erotic heaven here. And I don't want to come down. Really, if you would allow me to, without like down voting my review and stuff, this review would just be like: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am that excited about this book. So awesome. *Deep Breathes* Back the over- excited- soul train- up. Parking it. Now onto some reviewing. BEEP BEEP.
I love Tamara/Marata/Super Goddess's writing. I love it so much. I always thought she could pull off this genre and when she told me she had I instantly swam my way through my flu induced murk and bought a copy. Tamara has a very unique writing style. I sometimes see it blasted by reviewers because it's not conventional. Nothing about her is. It's not daisy farts and straight forward sentences. She very much has this sort of skat, rat-a-tat, jazzy improvisational writing style. I love it. I think it gives her whole entire work real character. It's how people speak. It's very real, and gritty. And it really shines in this dark romance. It gives the work that extra raw flair that a lot of other writers are trying give heroines in their works. Only Jess, really does have a very dark and damaged past. It's not just dead parents, or estranged parents, or a bad break up. No this is some real heavy stuff.
Honestly, I have been thinking about writing my own contemporary romance that has a bloody dark twist for a while. Sometimes those sugary sweet HEA's get to me. I mean I cut my teeth on horror movies and random weird nerdy things as a child. So conventional is boring to me. But now I don't have to. Marata wrote one for me and it is beyond anything that I could ever accomplish.
The first pages of this book tells you this is going to be different. The opening scene is absolutely terrifying and gruesome.
"Faith was in the wrong place at the exactly the wrong time.
Her arguing got Thaddeus to notice her. However, Faith will never submit.
Her pleas go unheeded. I bear witness in a dark locked closet; shamed, terrified and soaking in my own sweat and tears, I hear what he does and I can't stop it.
Faith saved me, and my apathy murdered her."

The next chapter picks up two years later and we find Jewell, is now Jess. I love the dynamic and the real struggle that she has finding her way and staying under the radar. She fails miserably, but the fact that she was able to survive two more years in safety away from her psycho step brother (Thad) is amazing.
Cas. The guy who blows Jess's well meaning plans to hell. Once he enters the book. It's like a swoony, fanning roller coaster. He is so HOT and then so cool. It drives Jess, and me insane. And, may I mention here, I have yet another book boyfriend. Sigh. It's not cheating, they totally live in different books.
The ending was the most satisfying HEA I have read in a long time. Marata really earned her ending with this book. Also the copious amounts of gore in the last few chapters didn't hurt, not a bit. Yes, it is all so sad and heartbreaking. I felt like crying, I did cry, but I was also a gleeful horror nerd.
"He turns at the waist, scooping up a round implement, covered by a blanket. My favorite quilt. I watch the jagged pattern of squares rise and fall on ________. I can't make out the design for the blood, as it is raised over and over again above _____'s head like an evil baton, the white becoming red.
.
And when the hero comes in and makes the HEA happen.
Then all hell breaks loose as Ben's head explodes like a watermelon beside me, littering fragments of his sickened brains all over myself and everything around me.

Exploding baddie brains FTW.
Right, I think I may have waved my freak flag a little too highly on this review. Anyway. This is an excellent, well written, engaging and DARK romance book. It's gritty and rough and I think people are really going to eat it up. Just like I did.

I LOVED the plot to this story, it was absolutely AWESOME! This story had a cup of dark, a quart of thrilling, and a damn pound of super freaking sexy! I really didn't expect to get sucked in as quick as I did when I started reading this book. The reviews that I read didn't have me chomping at the bit to get to it. You damn crazy reviewers, this is a Fantastic 5 stars, and if you don't think so, well we probably can't be book BFF's, 'cause we don't roll the same, obviously, lol. Jess / Jewell is running from a past that is about to catch up with her, and she is running quick and hard and right into the arms of two different men that couldn't be any more bi polars of each other. Mitch is the good ole boy, that is willing to wait for Jess to make up her mind. But Cas, hell Cas had my face flushed and my breath quick before page 90! I was asking Marata "Hey girl! Can I get a spoon? You know what, never mind, I'll just lick him up." Yeah, Cas isn't waiting, he's taking, and he makes damn sure Jess knows he does not share! <- just the way I like 'em, sigh.

Jess and her BFF Carlie have a hilarious banter, "Slut's Unite!" lol. They kept me cracking up the whole way through this story.
This story has twists and turns that had me screaming and gasping "NO WAY!!!! Holy shit! that came outta left field!" A Terrible Love is the perfect recipe of mystery, hot as hell sexy, and shocking character revelations

I can't even begin to describe how bad this novel is. Our heroine must have a personality of a middle schooler with personal intensity crisis. She can't make up her mind about anything and seems to be having a drama queen moment in every chapter. Its hard to pin point all the parts that made me want to crack my kindle in half since it seemed to be every other pages. I literally had to force myself to complete this novel since I hate leaving a book half way no matter how bad it is. In this case I really wished I did.

Jess, the heroine, is running away from a horrible past and wants to blend in and not attract attention by dating 2 men at a time. Every chapter she'll say something like "i cant have all this drama in my life since have so much to deal with already" and yet she's the one that created all the drama. Also for some reason every single "hot" guy seems to be in love with her or having an unhealthy obsession with her. One of the most annoying and inconsistent female character I have yet to encountered. Don't bother upsetting yourself over something so poorly written.

Where did this book come from?! Effing-Amazing! Review to follow.

Jess Mackey is a liar...she has to be. It's her only way to stay alive. She is hiding in plain sight and really wants to stay that way... She can’t date, she can’t party...and she can’t fall for her fellow classmate Devin Castile. Jess meets Devin, a Harley riding, inked up alpha-male hottie. Devin knows she’s hiding something and wants to be her knight in shining armor… and he wants her in a bad way.
A Terrible Love by Marata Eros was far from terrible...it was high grade Kindle Crack! I couldn't get enough of this book -- it's a page tuner loaded with drama, heartache, steam and suspense. ATL earned a top ten spot on my Romance with a Side of Smut must reads list. Four and a half stars!!!!!

The title of this book has the word terrible in it, but other than that there is nothing but awesomeness for you to read and enjoy. It isn’t just that this book has great characters…which it does. It isn’t just that it also has a fabulous – I couldn’t put it down- story line…also true. It isn’t just that the book gave me all the feels…and then some. Nope…it was also written so beautifully that I was in book nirvana.
