The Turning Point; Enlightening Essays on Life is in fact beyond enlightening, it is impactful, giving insights into each of our lives as individuals, parents, spouses, and friends. I was both enchanted at times and moved by the thoughts expressed on our daily lives. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is seeking an objective view point on multiple aspects of enlightenment, whether it be in a relationship with a partner, spouse, friend, or child, or is looking to rise to an expectation they had in themselves but were unable to grasp how to arrive.
Today, more and more people suffer from despair and anxiety. Another generic attribute is that everyone wants to do things in his own way. Where there is a need for restraint, one talks of freedom and permissiveness. One asks, 'Why should we have discipline? Let people do whatever they want.' Such are the changes in attitudes. Formally, people had less wealth and splendour. They lived in simplicity but were happy, whereas, today, people have so much, but are unhappy. If man exercises restraint, then life will become conductive to happier living. -Page 178.
This book adress fundamental questions about life and spiritual living. Questions are well addressed by giving clear and articulated arguments. I recommend reading the philosophy of swaminarayan sect before diving into this book.
