I am an avid follower of romance literature – preferably contemporary genre!!!! Since becoming a GR member…wow talk about expanding my reading “horizons”! All these exciting new genres and authors…..absolutely awesome is what I say! “Branching” out into paranormal, m/m, f/f, romance…and I’m so totally hooked.
Okay, I’m rambling a bit here, because what I should be doing is writing my thoughts about this marvelous and great book, where the mc’s are two women who meet and are unable to stop the growing attraction and strong chemistry they have together.
Having read a few f/f e-books, I found that most, apart from a few short stories by Harper Bliss, have been pretty awful. Torren Between by JL Edwards certainly rises above that.
It’s well written, has a great plot and the character development is so good that from the first line I was immediately drawn into the story.
I’m not going too much into the story itself because the book synopsis above gives one a pretty good idea on the plot.
Torren & Kristine are such likeable and endearing characters. The detailed account of their lives, specifically Torren’s (would have also liked to have seen more of Kristine’s life on her own) gives you a good insight into her perfect life….at times it had a bit of the Stepford Wives feel…perfect wife, perfect mom, perfect organizer, perfect home, perfect kids, perfect everything!!!!! There was nothing that Torren couldn’t do and do it with style and perfection. But something is missing in her life – yes she loves her two sons and she loves her husband but realizes she is not in love with him.
Her “perfect” life begins unraveling from the moment she meets Kristine. There’s an immediate and intense connection from the first time they see each other. Torren, who has only been attracted to her husband, is suddenly filled with the strongest sexual desire for a woman. Overwhelmed by thoughts of making love to a woman, she accepts the lunch invitation at Kristine’s home.
Unable to deny the obvious attraction and sexual tension both give in to their desires.
Their lovemaking is intense and incredibly well written – it’s nirvana-inducing, hot and sensual sex.
It’s about their growing emotional and physical connection and seeing their willingness to explore their own desire for each other.
Their relationship affects many lives and leads to some unexpected and life-threatening moments. Things are just not as simple as they should be.
An emotional cliff-hanger epilogue that just has you wanting to get the next book ….you need, you want to know more about these fabulous women……
It’s a pity that so many women don’t give f/f romance a go. How can it possibly be because they may feel a certain amount of discomfort….doesn’t mean that if you fantasize about a woman that you are now a lesbian…..is there a negative association to this genre or is it something else?
But whatever your views are about it, don’t give; up an opportunity to read a great and well-written, sexy and romantic story that just happens to be with two female mc’s instead of m/f.

This was a very well written book, the first book I've read with any lesbian relationship theme. The characters were really strong and the story had a bit of a crime twist to it. I'm curious to see where the author goes with Torren now that she has destroyed her marriage vows for another woman.
