About the author

Jamie McGuire was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She attended Northern Oklahoma College, the University of Central Oklahoma, and Autry Technology Center where she graduated with a degree in Radiography.

Jamie paved the way for the New Adult genre with the international bestseller Beautiful Disaster. Her follow-up novel, Walking Disaster, debuted at #1 on the New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists in all four categories. "Sweet potato fries"

Jared Ryel is a guy you would hold onto tight and never let go! *sigh*
I really liked this trilogy! Oh my, Jared Ryel ...the gorgeous hunk...what an amazing character; Mysterious, passionate, caring, loving, protective, faithful, and sweet. He draws you in and I LOVE every thing about him! He's become my favorite HERO!!! Great combo of Romance and parnormal.

It needs a good editor. Being an author and an editor, I found it hard to overlook all the typos. McGuire is a good storyteller, but she needs some work and discipline on plot and character development. The storyline reminded me of similar parallels with E.L. James' (50 Shades of Grey) and Stephenie Myers' (Twilight) series. It's like they all were part of the same Twi-fan-fic club, using the same formula, and making the same elementary plot mistakes, especially with the whole "special-one-of-a-kind-offspring), as if the answer to all their relationship problems are wrapped up in an unplanned and out-of-this-world pregnancy. However, if you really LOVED and salivated over those types of shallow and emotionally erratic stories, this one fits right into the mold. Hormonal teenagers would love it.

I didn't hate it, and I think the whole Guardian Angel/Telah idea was a GREAT story idea. I just think it could have been executed with a better plot.

I absolutely LOVE this series!!! Jared is wonderful and amazing!!! I was completely hooked and sucked in from the very beginning!!! There were parts where it reminded me of Twilight. Jared is very strong, smart, gorgeous, protective and would do absolutely anything for Nina. She is his whole world and together they are a force that is so strong and amazing to see. I loved getting to know both of them and follow them on their journey. Of course it wasn't always easy and it took some time but once they got it all figured out their were inseparable. It's a beautiful story that I enjoyed. I have also listened to the audio book for the first two books which are equally amazing. I love Carly Robins. She is a great narrator and enjoyable to listen too. Her voice reminds me of Kristen Bell from Frozen. I highly recommend all three of these books and the audio.

What an unexpected story! I read this book on the recommendation of a friend who said I would love it and then said not much more. I had NO IDEA that the story was going to take such a turn!

I always think it's interesting when an author creates a new world and then has to write the rules to that world. It seems like it'd be super easy, but it's not. There's a lot of if/then rules and the continuity must be steady throughout the whole story. McGuire did a great job at creating this world and leading us through it.

In order to love this story you have to suspend your disbelief and just enjoy the fantastical ride that McGuire has set. If you can't do that, then you will not enjoy these books, and the paranormal genre is probably not for you.

All in all I thought McGuire's first books out of the gate proved to be great! In a market where everyone and their brother is trying to write about vampires, werewolves, and other paranormal activity, McGuire found something that wasn't already saturating the market and gave us a story we could enjoy from beginning to end!

If you want a good story/book set you can sink your teeth into this is it! Nina and Jared are wonderful! In the first book Jared meets Nina just after her father has died. Little does she know he has known her all her life. He is her Guardian Angel so to speak. So we have Angels, half Angels, Demons and a prophecy yet to be discovered. Nina wants normal but Jared is anything but normal. We get to know his family and how they are all protectors. The story progresses thru the three books. Nina and Jared's love gets stronger the the prophecy is revealed. I absolutely loved this series!

LOVED this trilogy. Not read anything before with Arch angels, Hell, Demons in before but thoroughly got into this one. Beautiful love story with lots of twists and turns along the way. One of my favourites definately re-read again. Brilliant.

I initially really struggled with this series. I absolutely adore Jamie McGuire and her beautiful books (beautiful disaster, beautiful redemption etc), I especially loved red hill so I think I was expecting big things from this series.

So, this series centres around Nina, a college kid who has just lost her father to what she believes to be a car accident. Following her fathers death, she comes across a guy named Jared who is kind to her initially, but then keeps showing up unannounced. Throughout the book, we learn that Jared is a half-breed, half angel and half human, and his family are assigned to Nina's family. Jared's father was responsible for Nina's and Jared is responsible for Nina. His angelic abilities ensure he is able to keep all things Hellish from Nina, and he's being doing this for many, many years. However, Jared falls in love with Nina and Heaven & Hell forbids any relationship with her.

I'll try not to drone on unnecessarily and leave out as many spoilers as possible....but, what I will say is the first book was really difficult for me to get my teeth into. I have no idea if this is early Mcguire writing but it seemed to be lacking her normal sparkle. Nina seems whiny, the other characters seem a bit underdeveloped, the scenes are a bit cliche.....I wasn't a massive fan, and I'll be honest, it took some effort to get through it which is disappointing as her other books are just SO good.

It well worth persevering with because books 2 & 3? Wet your pants, stay up for hours into the morning reading kinda good. Absolutely LOVED books 2 & 3, the pace was quicker and the characters better developed. We are also introduced into interesting characters, we're taken out of Providence, so much good stuff going on. Can't gush enough how much better the later books are.

Was very torn about the star rating I should award. I eventually settled on a high 3 but not quite a 4 star, I would have awarded much higher based on books 2 & 3 alone.

This series is AMAZING!! Once I started, I couldn't put it down. No seriously, my children and husband got ignored and I barely slept for 3 days while I read them.
Jared is our half angel, gift from God. This man is amazing. He really does have the lips of an angel ;) and his love for Nina is outstanding.
I loved watching Nina grow through the books. This couple has to through Heaven and Hell to be together, literally!
Providence, is all about first. First date, first kiss....we are left with some questions but they get answered in Requiem. Nina has grown a lot as a person in the second book and I loved that. We are not left with a cliffhanger but you still can't wait to start Eden. I, seriously, was biting my nails, saying Holy Shit, or wanting to reach through my iPad and slap Nina through parts of Eden lol. It's very action packed and does what it's supposed to as the last book. Eden gives us closer and completes this amazing series/story.
All of the characters in this series make it what it is. They all bring different cards to the table and it wouldn't be complete without them all.
This wasn't my first book/hooks that I had read by Jamie McGuire but if it had I would've been addicted to work from this point on, the same way I have been since Beautiful Disaster. To know these were her first books, completely blows my mind. The talent that Jamie possesses is outstanding.
If you're on the fence about these books bc they are paranormal or for any other reason, don't be. Jump on over and join the rest of us that are obsessed with Jamie's work and you won't be disappointed.

A Great YA Paranormal Romance
The Best Series I Have Read All Year
I spent a week in July reading this series because of a recommendation from my best friend. That is literally all I knew about the books, that my bestie loved them. I stayed up until 1 a.m. reading more than one night. This whole series was a “oh I will read one more hour” “okay, okay one more chapter” … “one more page” and then it would be 1 a.m. I could not put this series down. It was amazing from start to finish, which is so often not the case for series.
I admit to finding myself smiling at the happiness of the characters at certain moments in the story. Then, I’d be sobbing. There is sadness and death. There was also crying from happiness. I felt a lot of emotion from this book and I really think it is because of the writing style of Jamie McGuire. I have never been in love so it is not like I could relate to Nina and Jared that way, but you fall in love with the characters. You not only fall in love with Jared and Nina, but you fall in love with Jared’s family and Nina’s friends. This is an above 5 braincells (stars for those not in the know yet) and there is only a scale of 1-5 so I’m singing this books praises. Okay, not singing I don’t hate you all that much. Pick this series up and read it!

So.So.

I wanted to love this book but sadly I did not. Major Spoiler warning. Non readers beware.... So where to begin. I cried within the first 3 pages. Her last moments with her dad were sad. But then you find out the truth about him. It didn't really even explain his reasoning behind what he did. I also felt a lot of things were started but not finished. Like Mr.Dawson and Sasha. After their deaths nothing happened afterwards. I also thought it was super weird how Ryan could love Nina so much and just fall out of love then instantly fell in love with Claire. Wait. Where the hell did that come from? He only met her like 2 times then thinks he saw her when she saved his life and instant love! I really liked Ryan... a lot. Then he came back from war and was a completely different person. Yes I get it. War does terrible things to people. But I didn't like he went from a sweet boy next door to a crazy man running around with guns. Next Nina. Liked her throughout the books. Last 3 or so chapters killed it for me. She was so freaking selfish and ungrateful. She literally got her best friend killed then told Jared he would save her like he usually did. Wow. Just wow. On a better note. Loved Jared to pieces and Lillian was such a sweetie. But my favorite character was Bex. Lol just absolutely loved that boy.

Wow - I love book series - I like to keep the story alive for a few books so Trilogys are definitely my thing.

This series is definitely one of my all time favorites. I fell for Nina and Jared right from the start. The torment that Jared has went through for most of his life while trying to protect the one he loves (without her actually having a clue about him) was so intense my heart nearly broke.

I have to admit I found Nina's character increasingly frustrating - the very end of the third book really got on my wick - I felt the ending was very very rushed - it was all over so quickly and I didn't find a good enough reason as to why she had to force her way out of the room they were in - I realize they had been in for a while but what was making her so intent on leaving - it was so stupid and irritating I found myself screaming with frustration at her!!!!! (Deep breaths - it still annoys me)That would be the only thing I would change though it wouldn't make me take off a star - it definitely opened up the whole Guardian/Protection genre for me - I'll definitely be looking out for another similar trilogy to lose myself in.

ANGELIC & SUSPENSEFUL!!

Its all about a battle to essentially save the woman he loves...and lets just "kill two birds with one stone" and save the world while we are at it. :)

Out of all three..I would have to say Providence was my favorite and Requiem was my least favorite. I loved Providence, and how the whole love story comes out between Nina and Jared!! Requiem...just felt like an in-between book for me, and didn't have as much impact for me. Still good to get to Eden...but not the best.

I loved the characters in all three though...Ahhh Jared!! If only a man like him really existed...just too good to be true! I loved Claire and Bex too...they were so fun! Claire kicks ass, and Bex just seems like a giant teddy bear...who could most likely kill you with one finger. ;)

Overall story line really keeps you going and you won't want to put it down. Lots of drama, suspense, and love....these books have it all! The only thing that disappointed me a bit would be the writing not being the best. I felt things tended to jump around a bit and noticed a lot of typos. Despite that...totally worth the read!

Just finished the Providence trilogy. I thought it was quite good for Jamie McGuire's first works. The writing, spelling and grammar improved with the series, so I think she found an editor or beta reader to correct punctuation/grammar/spelling mistakes. I was gripped by the book and wanted to find out what happened to Nina, Jared, and their friends. It reminded me a bit of the Twilight series in that our heroine winds up with some unexpected "powers" if you will, and evil is chasing after Nina and Jared which could turn into an all-out war.

I discovered Jamie McGuire with Beautiful Disaster, so I just can't like this series as much as I love BD/WD/ABW. I enjoyed reading about Providence and Rhode Island as I've visited there quite a bit. I think she nailed the descriptions of the New England life/flora and fauna.

I think this series is geared more to the New Adult audience and not so much the YA audience, mainly due to the sex, violence, and religious undertones. My 13yo DD could read this, but I doubt she'd appreciate the religion in it as would an older reader.

okay so here is the thing with this series it has a great plot really well written characters but not enough was done with it for me. it really was like reading a few different series wrapped up into one actual series.

the first book started out fantastic and grew on that for a little while then dragged on but end very well. this is where the series got a little slow for me. parts that I thought should have been discussed with further detail kind of got skipped over and parts that I thought really didn't belong in the story were concentrated on more.

I would have liked to see more with Nina and Jared interacting more with nina's friends etc.

overall it was a very good read and I kind of hope there are more so we know what happens with Clair and Ryan and hex.
