I love how much thought and effort went into the world building. If I'm honest, this is what keeps me coming back and reading a lot of Kiera's work. Yes, the characters and sex scenes are very well done but not everyone has the ability to take something significant about our world, twist it, and have it make sense.
I'm also gladdened by the fact that Kiera works to make sure that the quality towards her story lines and world building is not sacrificed to fan pressure. I mean, I can live with typos and long waits between updates but I cannot stand poor world building or stories that give the impression of being done just to show an update. With Kiera, every update means me kissing goodbye a couple hours with a smile on my face and the knowledge that I will be reading something great.

Excellent Stargate Atlantis fanfic set in a BDSM world. Fantastic read!

BDSM is not my jam, normally. It's a fun read, when the mood strikes. That said, this series is great.
If I remember correctly Keira took (with permission) the basics of another fanficwriters world building concept and built on it to create her own version. I've read Xanthe's fics before I ever knew about KM and it is recognizable as an inspiration but this is a very fresh and expanded world with unique elements.
From what I understand about the lifestyle, it is all about trust. Not kinky sex, TRUST. The sex scenes are intense and while I tend to skip them, here they add to the character and relationship development. Rodney, when their jorney starts, is on a professional crossroad and his abusive ex-wife is making his life hell. The crucial detail about his ex, and it shows how well this story is planned, is that Sam Carter has charism and smarts galore - she's a golden girl in the eyes of nearly everyone in the SG Program -her sexual dynamic und interpersonal ethiccs are pretty messed up. And she never sought professional help. John and Rodney have exceptional sexual chemistry from the get go but as they later admit, at first their connection is based on trust in John's education and - let's call it certified skill level. They do have lots of sex but the real intimacy develops over time and shared experiences.
There are many interesting original characters, a lot of intruige, political games and everyday life drama thrown at the MCs and an overall story arc that ties the separate parts together.

This is an amazing story. Keira has created a world that just makes sense. This is actually 15 separate stories now and I couldn’t put it down. Now I’ve finished I just wish their was more.

Fanfiction of stargate, or an alternate universe of. However, as I've never watched stargate I discovered a wonderful world and doubt the actual tv series would be any better.
Awesome online story that has everything that i adore to read: scify, romance, bdsm, military and a genius :) Would love to live in this world :D

Quite possibly the best MM BDSM book ever written.
Amazing world-building! Despite the fact that the world is somewhat set up already, this being a fanfic, the additions to the universe are brilliant. This is very well written, engrossing and just totally amazing.
