She publishes under two names in Japanese, that spell the same but are written with different characters. - 硝音あや: for shōjo manga - しょうおとあや: for BL manga
This was the most action-packed yet, a real heartbreaker. And now the manga is ending, ugh. I just want physical copies damnit. WHY CAN'T YOU BE PUBLISHED IN ENGLISH!! This is my favourite of the whole series, but maybe Volume 9 will beat it! We'll see. I do however hope they will resolve the whole rhode knight romance issue. Or at least have some sort of closure on the subject.
Cute as always! As I mention every review, the plot is completely random, but the characters are fun and I am almost at the end of the series. One more volume to go!
A lot happens in this volume and it happens fast, like the author decided the speed run the last part of a game after getting bored with all the side quests. Warning, lots of spoilers.
No change in the Arcana card count since the last volume because... we've been busy with other stuff. Wasn't this supposed to be the main quest? I mean, this is a reverse harem romance, so I get that romance outweighs the to-do list, but still. How did we get so sidetracked? THERE'S ONLY ONE BOOK LEFT!!!
This volume is full of action scenes... and now onto the ending! By now I'm fond of all the Knight Roses (except Silver, seriously what is his excuse??!!). Blue Rose was so cool in this volume... and about that I'm thinking we wont get what the end game is (more like an open ending), I'm OK if that's the case, but at this point I'm sort of sad the series is so short.
I am so tired of Anise's dad...he is really going back and forth about his decisions. At times I can't tell if he is just creating extensive exercises, or if he is truly on the other team. Guess I'll find out in the next volume.
i feel like that last plot twist would have hit better if it hadn't been so long since i read the earlier volumes. lots of stuff happened here and i was mostly just nodding along like okay bet
What makes Volume 8 work as well as it does in its consistent action. You'll want to keep reading as the Rose Knights defend Anise, what I first believed to be a ruse was in fact a ruse (sadly, I didn't feel it was well-executed), Haruto gets re-introduced and is an adversary once again, and Anise ventures forth, with help from Seiran and Yako, to confront her father.
I think I was caught up in this volume's fast pace the first go around, because I did notice some holes this time around. Why did Haruto decide to fend off against Anise after his sacrifice in Volume 3? How did Mutsuki evade his brother's control on him? I liked how they were able to reconcile their familial bond, but the execution was lacking on Shouoto's part. What she did better was set up how the Fake Rose Warriors met (with fun illustrations to boot) and tie their story together (even if Anise never found out Ella was Mikage). The last reveal, in particular, was beautiful. There was just enough prolepsis to make it hit this time.
With one volume to go, I am a little concerned with how this series ended, but I'm still optimistic given my past new reviews. Shouoto may have dropped more plot crumbs than I realized in reading this series closer together.
First Read Review (April 17th, 2016):
Original Rating: 5 Stars
All this unexpected character development is making my insides tingle! :3 I was really happy with the Fake Rose Knights having some background, and Haruto making another reappearance after a few volumes! Well, he was back to being evil, but still, I do kind of like him.
More adorable Seiran, more plot twists (the Mutsuki plot twist from last volume wasn't actually a plot twist), and a dramatic reveal at the end (I accidentally spoiled myself for that when I looked at this volume back in January, but still) that could cause some jaws to drop.
This has become one of my favorite manga series, and I'm so sad it's about to end. I'm going to miss all of these great main characters.
Some feelings between Kaede and Anise is broached, but since it’s in the middle of a battle, nothing is resolved there. I do like the way that Kaede doesn’t shy from his feelings here, though. He just likes her, all their serious jobs aside, and it’s sweet.
Lots of showdowns in this volume, though. Mutsuki fights with his brother once and for all, facing his feelings about that. We also see how close Mutsuki and Mitsuru really are, even if they fight it. Seiran fights for Anise, showing how much he really cares for them all. The fake princess stands off with Anise, and the Lime rose is there to help Anise later.
And then we end with Anise facing the last fake rose, in a final stand-off. The next volume is the last, and we’ll see how it all ends.
I’m excited, as I’ve really enjoyed this series so far.
A review copy was provided by the publisher, VIZ Media, for an honest review. Thank you so, so much!
Kaede has achieved his first awakening and not even two minutes later, he achieved his second one. Mitsuki didn't truly betray them, it was a scheme that him and white rose had planned to do. It was successful. Ella reverted back to a weapon and Anise wanted to protect her. Anise exhausted herself and Seiran, the blue rose, was there in time to stop her from overexerting herself.
Yako consciousness was trapped in the tower and he helped her disable the machine and Seiran stayed behind to stop the Gold Rose, Haruto... Seiran delayed Haruto even though Anise was low on blood he prevented himself from hurting her. Anise's father showed up and so did Silver flower petals. It could only mean one thing.
Anise's father....
is the silver rose....
I only have one book left!! Oh my goodness this is so much drama going on, I simply can't believe it. I hope the next book finishes answering all of my unanswered questions! Last book here I come!!
Kaede has attains the second stage of awakening and becomes much more powerful and is able to help defeat the swarms of enemies until Mutsuki shows up with Ques. Mutsuki fights with Tenjo and while the tides seem to turn when Mutsuki rejoins the rose knights side Ques attempts to have the collar kill Mutsuki but Tenjo and Mutsuki were actually working together to remove the collar.
Overall an ok volume. Some action happens but the story doesn't really move forward (at least not as much as I had hoped). Should be interesting to see what happens next though.
I received an advanced copy from VIZ Media through Edelweiss in exchange for my honest review.
Wow, I really enjoyed this volume and am enjoying this manga series! : ) got so crazy and intense in this one, but really good story and characters, some twists in there, and love the relationship and strong bond Anise and her rose knights share : ) can't wait to read volume 9 in March! : ) definitely recommend this series! : )
This is the start of the ending that came out of nowhere. I really hate that this story is coming to a conclusion already. There was just way too much plot for the number of volumes. This could have gone on much longer. Instead we've got such rapid-fire changes (suddenly the cards seem completely unimportant) that the plot is hard to follow. I'm very disappointed in how this is coming out.
The series is getting very confusing now. I had a hard time telling which parts were flashback and which parts were present. Hoping the next volume gets a bit clearer. I am glad that Kaede and Anise finally admitted feelings, sort of. We'll see where that goes.
