Easy conversational teaching over some of the most beloved and most controversial chapters in the Bible. I really like how he starts out each chapter by quoting the whole passage that he will be speaking about. It helped me have an idea of what was coming up, but its also an easy way to get settled in the context before he explains his own ideas. I can’t say I agree with all his interpretations about head coverings and being baptized for the dead. But really those are very minor disagreements when you consider the huge variety of topics covered in this book. I would heartily recommend it as a beginning commentary on the book of 1 Corinthians.
I love H.A. Ironside. He's not the deepest commentator by any means. He doesn't cover every verse the way I wish he would at times. But I always love reading him. He's always worthwhile. And I think I'd say, this is one of his best commentaries. Always good for a quote or two if you're preaching through the a book.
Pretty good on individual application, though pietistic at times. Off base when his dispensationalism comes out. Strong on fundamentals against liberalism.
