I picked up this book at the famous Wall Drug in South Dakota. Goodfriends, you should check out their bookstore if you find yourself there. It's very nice and covers all things fiction and nonfiction about The West. I also picked up Indian Givers: How the Indians of the Americas Transformed the World.

This handbook has everything you want in a handbook and nothing you don't. It's small, neat, well-crafted. It has plenty of pictures and concise text. There are sidebars scattered throughout. By the end, I felt I had a good idea about the life of bison.

I will refresh my memory with it next time I head into bison country.
