The Barista's Heart

Rate this book
Amy turned him down out of shock more than dislike. Given a second chance at getting to know Dylan, can she make it a third time to see him? Unsure about why exactly she's continuing to talk to him, there is something about Dylan that has captured her interest and, given time, may capture a lot more of her, too.

Filled with wonderful sex, beautiful people, warm relationships, hot coffee, surprising encounters, and a macaroon, this is a story to warm the heart.

Xavier Edwards (it might be his real name, no one is really sure) has spent his life surrounded by women, and writing. Growing up in rural Australia before the age of the Internet and cable television, there was no better refuge than in books. Any and all genres were absorbed as he and his three sisters grew up far from the hectic pace of the big smoke. The wide expanse of open country and natural beauty have carried across to his writing, forming evocative backdrops to the sensual dance taking place in his stories.

After leaving school, Xavier joined the military and has served with honour in the Air Force, from leading brave men and women into combat to searching for, and finding, people lost at sea. Joining him on this journey has been his wife, three daughters, and two cats.

Behind it all, Xavier continued to write. Freelance journalism proved lucrative and gave him his first taste of a readership that found his writing engaging and evocative. The imagery that continued to dance through his mind, would not suit this audience and when he did write it down and gave it to a small, trusted circle of readers, it had amazing results. Quite by accident, he had discovered a knack for Erotica.

I cling to an arrogant belief that only women can write about love properly, but Xavier Edwards has managed to beat me into submission with this little gem.

I loved the characters. The imagery in the cafe was so tangible, if I closed my eyes I could imagine I waited in the queue for Amy to serve me. Dylan was a complex character, not what he first appeared, and I was intrigued by the sharp and unexpected turns the story made.

The growing relationship between them was beautifully crafted in a short-story format, and since Xavier writes erotica, it was scorching hot too.

Another satisfying quick read from one of my new favourite hot writers :-)

This is a wonderful short story about two people finding love. Amy is a little gun-shy when it comes Dylan but finally gives in and agrees to go out with him. Before long there are multiple dates and romance is in the air.

This was intriguing because Amy felt an attraction to Dylan and her mind ran away with erotic thoughts of him the very first time they met. Dylan turned out to be quite the gentleman who know how to treat someone he cares about. Not only that, he's hot!

This is a quick read that will leave you with stars in your eyes!

Nicely written short but not as steamy as I usually like them. Can't wait till Amy and Dylan develop in the novella or extension so the erotica isn't in daydream and they both experience each other! Keep 'email coming Xavier.
