They're tough as nails and sexy as hell. With their leather chaps and Stetson hats, they're impossible to resist. They're cowboys and they like to ride slow and hard. . .

"Two for the Road" by Cat Johnson
Heather London is tired of the squeaky clean acting roles that keep coming her way. But when she takes off in a car one day heading west, she never expects to meet up with some very macho cowboys who show her just how fun it is to get down and dirty. . .

"Soul of a Cowboy" by Vonna Harper
One thing cowboys don't take kindly to is city girls snooping around the ranch, investigating environmental concerns. But when Kathy Vinoza sets eyes on Mike Moss, it's only a matter of time before the rest of her body follows. . .

"Trouble in Boots" by Lynn LaFleur
An unforgettable high school graduation night has kept Keely Sheridan and Nick Fallon apart for far too long. But when Nick gets sidelined after fighting a raging fire, and Keely needs Nick's help with the family ranch, he is more than willing to take control. . .

It all started in first grade when Cat Johnson won the essay contest at Hawthorne Elementary School and got to ride in the Chief of Police's car in the Memorial Day Parade...and the rest, as they say, is history. As an adult, Cat generally tries to stay out of police cars and is thrilled to be writing for a living. She has been published under a different name in the Young Adult genre, but released her first romance in 2006.

Today, she is a NY Times & USA Today best-selling, award-winning author of contemporary romance. A promo ho, she's sponsored real live bull riding cowboys and promoted romance using bologna.

I received this book from Netgalley for my honest review.

Hmmmmmm.... I don't know how to say this without seeming I don't know, jaded by what I have read.
But I downloaded this believing it would be a collection of erotic stories as it was in the erotic section.
What I found were three stories...
1. The first one Two for the Road by Cat Johnson was risky but to me it was a regular ménage story that cut off before we got to the good stuff. I felt like I had been teased. I was a bit rushed with the emotions and that sort of thing, but I can forgive that because it is a short story.
What I can't forgive is feeling like I got half the story. I actually kept going thinking, that can't be it. But it was. So even though it started off good, I felt let down.
2.Soul of a Cowboy by Vonna Harper
This one seemed like a regular ole romance story to me. Not very erotic. The sex was pretty meh. I
The relationship building was better in this one, but then it was also rushed and I felt I didn't feel the flow or what happened at the end. The fight.... I don't know it all felt very stilted.
3. Trouble in Boots by Lynn LaFleur
This one was the best out of the bunch. I loved it. It was steamy. I felt the feelings between these two, the emotions were there and they were built up really well for being such a short story.
The sex was hot, hot, hot! I would have liked to read more of there story actually.

I guess I am trying to figure out what made this book erotic...
The definition of eroticism
Eroticism (from the Greek ἔρως, eros—"desire") is generally understood to refer to a state of sexual arousal or anticipation of such – an insistent sexual impulse, desire,[1] or pattern of thoughts, as well as a philosophical contemplation concerning the aesthetics of sexual desire, sensuality and romantic love.

I guess all books were based on this definition... I just felt that maybe other books I have read that have just been classified romance felt more....erotic.
These stories just fell flat to what I was expecting. Maybe if I was just expecting romance I would have been more satisfied. Sorry to be so picky, but as a whole this collection of stories just wasn't quite "it" for me.

Who doesn't like hot and sexy cowboys? Add in the super alpha attitude and the women that want to get them out of their chaps and you got In A Cowboy's Bed.

In A Cowboy’s Bed is actually a collection of three highly erotic tales, Two for the Road, Soul of a Cowboy, and Trouble in Boots. Each story provided multiple erotic encounters but since they were short stories they ended quickly without you developing any character connections. In A Cowboy’s Bed is the perfect book for quick, easy and extremely steamy reading.

I received this ARC copy of In a Cowboy's Bed from Kensington Books - Aphrodisia in exchange for an honest review. This book is set for publication July 30, 2013.

Before talking about the book itself I'd like to say that the cover isn't appealing at all, for me at least...

About the book,so it is actually three short erotic stories from different authors and where cowboys are involved.

-The first one "Two for the road" was about a ménage M/F/M. Heather wants to take a break from her life and her mother. She founds herself between two cowboys: Ned and Ben. And please, the scene at the road when the heroine needs help was just so cliché!
I was feeling like it was only the beginning of the story or something when it ended... I mean, where is the rest? Nowhere apparently.

-The second story "Soul of a cowboy" was boring. It wasn't really coherent and the writing was so slowww. Even at the beginning it was like the characters were already in love...Totally believable, hum. I didn't like it.

-In the last one "Trouble in boots", the characters were OK...Some things were just ridiculous. Some sentences were funny like Nick saying "I won't get pregnant either" No kidding?...

Anyway, the stories weren't quite well developed and it could have been better. It wasn't a good book for me.

I did it again. I got a book without looking into it. The first story in this could have been fairly good. It spent a lot of time on storylines that were dropped. But most importantly, it had this huge setup for a final scene with all the characters, but ends right before. Huge buildup for no payoffs.
The next story was awkward. It had a strange flow that I personally wasn’t feeling, but then they decide to become intimate and they keep making a comparison with livestock. Uh, what? I’m not sure I want you talking about your cows and horses and how she’s like them while getting it on. The dialogue was so uncomfortable I started skimming. Skimming through the naughty bits of a naughty bit book seems ridiculous to me. So I’m stopping. I’m not even going to bother with the last story. Maybe it’s amazing and the best ever, but I have to walk away from this book before I get infected with it’s ridiculousness. Maybe it’s contagious? It seems to be going around right now in my literature anyway.

Great collection

All three of these books was fantastic. I am especially glad to read anything Cat Johnson writes. She always makes her characters disclose to real life.

I really enjoyed this book it was a very interesting and fun read. I like that it was three novellas by different authors all on the topic of cowboys. I would highly recommend any of these authors to some one that is looking for a different author to try. I really enjoyed all of there writing styles. I felt that they were all done tastefully with lots of romance , with sexy detail and the character seem like really people that have everyday problems in there real lives.

The first novella was is Titled Tow for the Road by Cat Johnson- In this story we meet Heather a young girl who is trying to get out from her over protective mom \acting coach\agent. Heather feels her mom has controlled her for to long and now she is going to do things on her own. I felt this almost read a little like a coming of age story with a very grown up twist. I gave credit to heather's character for knowing what she wants and going for it and also for the two men she meets( Ben and Ned). There is many twist and turns that will keep you interested till the end of the story. The story will end and you will want more . At least I did.

The second novella is titled Soul of a Cowboy by Vonna Harper- In this story you meet magazine writer Kathy and Cowboy rancher mike. Kathy is following around mike to learn more about how he does his job of cattle grazing and using of government land. Kathy is in the process of writing an article that could either hurt or help mikes cause. He just is having a hard enough time consentrating on the subject mater when he looks at kathy he keeps seeing how beautiful she is. Mike is struggling he has not been with someone in a long time and Kathy is so beautiful but he does not want to jepordize the article. The twist and turns the book makes are really good.

The third Novella is titled Trouble in boots by Lynn LaFleur- In this story we meet Keely and Nick. They hooked eleven years ago one time and since then Keely has been head over heels for Nick from a distance. Keely thinks that Nick doesn't even notice her she is just another flirty waitress that takes care of him and his friends at the bar they frequent. Little does Keely know that nick does have feeling for her for a very long time but is not willing to make a move on them till his ranch is more financially stable . A series of events happen to Nick and he end of getting hurt and quess who comes to his rescue. Keely. Wait till you see what happens. I have to say this was my favorite story of them all.

IN A COWBOY'S BED is an anthology featuring three hot cowboy stories.

The first story, "Two for the Road" by Cat Johnson features a young actress named Heather London who's been feeling stifled in her personal life as well as her career by her controlling manager mother. She meets hunky cowboys Ned and Ben when the car she's driving breaks down and they find her stranded at the side of the road. She spins them a wild story about why she's running then goes home with them. After a few days of some rather hot m/f/m action, she takes off again but then returns after she's landed a movie role based on her talent instead of her name.

I did enjoy this story, but it left me wanting more.

The second story, "Soul of a Cowboy" by Vonna Harper has journalist Kathy Vinoza seeing out rancher Mike Moss so she can write a story about ranchers who utilize Bureau of Land Management land as a supplement to their own land when taking care of their herds.

I liked Mike, but the story had a feel of insta-love which I don't care for.

The third story, "Trouble in Boots" by Lynn LaFleur is about bar waitress Keely Sheridan and her long-time crush Nick Fallon. Nick has also been crushing on Keely, but feels like he has to get his financial situation in check before he has anything to offer a woman. Keely goes to stay with Nick after he's injured firefighting and the sparks fly.

While I enjoyed the first two stories, this one was my favorite.

Two for the Road by Cat Johnson
Cat Johnson is one of my all-time favorite authors. She writes cowboys so well you can smell the leather. I loved this story and that Heather’s part of the story probably happens in real life way too often. I can’t imagine not having any control over my life. She certainly takes control after having enough.

I really hope to get a full novel about these three. It would be an awesome story to see how confronting her mother goes and how these three work it out long-term. This was a great short story with lots of HOT scenes.
Rating: A

Soul of a Cowboy by Vonna Harper
I started on Soul of a Cowboy and was excited. I really liked the beginning of the story and then it started dragging. I just couldn’t really get into. The characters didn’t call to me or engage me. I couldn’t “feel” the story as I did with Two for the Road. I continued reading and it stayed the same. Soul of a cowboy wasn’t for me. I felt that the one love scene in the book was drawn out way too long. I couldn’t put myself in Kathy’s place at all.
Rating: C-

Trouble in Boots by Lynn LaFleur
Cowboys are so noble, old-fashioned and hard headed. I love them so much! Nick is the perfect example of what I’m talking about. I got into these two characters so much. Trouble in Boots drew me into the story and the characters. I couldn’t wait to see what happened.

I was so glad for the meddling of Dusty. I don’t know if Nick would’ve pulled his head out if it wasn’t for that. These two were so much fun and perfect for each other. Ms. LaFleur did very well with this short.

Two for the road.
Cute short story about having it all and nothing at the same time. Heather London dashing away from an overbearing mother and the public eye heads out on her own. Only to be found again by two wholesome cowboys willing to share her pleasure.
I found the novella fun and enjoyable, with the only setback was the lack of emotional draw. The guy are sweet and written well but they are either horny, jealous or mad....lol

Soul of a Cowboy:
Controversial issues are not going to stand in the way of the heat Kathy and Mike have. Brought together and may never part after some cold beer and pizza. These two act upon the whole "go with what feels right" , love that follow your instinct! The detail in this Short was cosmic!!! So profound in every way I feel as though it was not a full length book it was complete in the seduction and follow through...right till the end. (Well done )

Twin Boots:
Pride is a terrible thing to wedge itself between lovers. Nick so worried about what kinda life he could provide Keely, his long time desire didn't realise time may just run out. When they spend day in and out together, will they finally come together again???
Another really good novella.. I love short stories they take you away for a glimmer, and with some you still have that fulfillment. Where you got the whole story..this is a perfect example.

I received this book via Netgallery and publisher for an honest review.

I really like anthologies. I get a sample of an authors work, a quick read that's great for a between novel break, or I just don't have the attention span for a long read. In A Cowboys Bed offers 3 different stories that very different but lots of erotic heat.

TWO FOR THE ROAD by Cat Johnson is a big more rowdy, sexy romp with 2 young ranchers and 1 runaway starlet.
SOUL OF A COWBOY by Vonna Harper is a slow burning sizzler with a rancher and a reporter that may endanger his way of life. Kathy and Mike might be on opposite sides of an ecology issue, but they cannot resist one night where their resistance melts away.
TROUBLE IN BOOTS by Lynn Lafluer is a sweet story with a hardheaded Cowboy with a ranch he's trying to save and a girl that been in love with him since high school. Nick is determined to be financially secure before he'll pursue the girl that has his heart. Keely won't be deterred when Nick needs help after an accident.

I had read Vonna Harper before, but not Cat Johnson or Lynn Lafluer. Totally enjoyed them and will look for more of their work.

Two for the Road by Cat Johnson was a nice little story about a Hollywood beauty who wants to break out of the preconceived notions about her. While running away for a respite from her mother, who is also her manager, she breaks down and comes across two hot cowboys! I loved Ben and Ned was okay, but Ben was my fave! This was a cute story, but lacked the big Cat Johnson punch that I'm used to.

Soul of a Cowboy by Vonna Harper was not my favorite story. I found myself glossing over it. It just didn't do anything for me. I was a little disappointed in it. The story didn't flow and I found it hard to connect with the characters.

Last but certainly not least, was Trouble in Boots by Lynn LaFleur. I L-O-V-E-D this story! It was about Keely and Nick, who had one hot night together when they were younger and have danced around each other since. When Nick gets injured, Keely agrees to head out to his ranch to help take care of him. Sparks fly and the heat gets turned up a notch or two. My only negative take about this story was that I didn't really get why Nick never acknowledged their one night together. But hey... that was a small detail and easily overlooked!

The book is a collection of 3 stories in one book.
Two for the Road-
Heather is tired of her mother controlling her every move that she makes for life & career. Heather is 22 & she determined to go away for bit... After a photo shoot her mother forbidden her to do, she asks one of the employees to swap cars...She takes off for parts unknown, and finds herself stranded alongside of the road.
Ned & Ben are on their way home when they spot Heather and they stop to help.
(Ménage)
This seemed liked it was a part of or could be a part of longer length book...It was to me personal ok…

Soul of a Cowboy-
Kathy is a reporter, but what is she on the trail for on Mike's property...& what they both find is an attraction for each other...
An ok so so contemporary erotic...
Trouble in Boots
Just plain weird, I am not sure how to proceed with a review, I mean what the ... When I write a review I steer clear of writing any spoilers and any direction I take may spoil this just plain whacky and really weird story.
I received the book for an honest review, thank you.

All three stories were just slightly off. The first had this weird sideplot in which The second story was alright, but that's it. The third story has this really bizarre element in which the main male character grills the heroine, asking her all sorts of personal questions, not the regular type of personal questions one asks before sex, prior to their first sexual encounter - it was just weird and off putting.

I came away from this collection of short stories wondering first, what it was doing classified as Erotica, because the second and third stories were quite tame and second, what the hell! The stories just seemed off.

All my personal opinion of course.

Read in one go. AND yes, it was hot but kind of weird.

The first story was a little creepy (M/F/M 3some) because the girl (and it was a girl) was young and sheltered and the cowboys were mature and very experienced...I had thought maybe Heather and Ben would end up together eventually but...it seemed it was sex, sex and more sex and very little beyond that.

The second was a little better as there was some more conversation and introspection but again, no push and pull, just straight into the sack and a few pages later...we'll be together forever.

The third was the best in my opinion. At least there was some history to these two. A lot more "seething" beneath the surface and a lot of steamy incidences that did not get into sex ASAP. Nice build-up, nice characters. Will get you all gooey (in a good way).

3.5 Stars from Me!

This book is a great read if you enjoy cowboys, well let’s be honest here, who doesn’t like cowboys. They are all muscle, and fantasy and oh just about everything.

There are 3 short stories in this book that all have to do with cowboys, and the girls who fall for them. The women who find what they were least expecting in the arms of those men. You get to follow along with the stories that are about 3 completely different couples and the highs and lows that they face in the beginning of their relationships.

And we can’t forget the sex part of these books, which was cowboy hot! There are completely different things that take place during the course of these stories, there is almost something in there for everyone to enjoy. I would recommend this book to my friends who enjoy the cowboy romances!

I didn't know what to expect from this book. I really am thinking it was an ok read. The scenes in this book were good and not dull. The short stories were nice and some ended so abruptly I did not know it had finished and was on the next story. This was an ARC and lean to that as the reason. I like HEA in these stories. I know it hard to decide to cut things out and leave certain information in, but would have liked a lil more happy I guess is the word I am looking for. In the end that is. Considering everything and the fact these are short stories they were nice to read. Alpha males come in all shapes and sizes and I will never turn one down. I mean a cowboy who doesn't just think of himself in the sack!!! Just plain HOT!!

3 quick and steamy stories but I definitely would not categorize this as erotica.

Cat Johnson could write the phone book and I would read it love it! So Two for the Road was my top pick of the 3.
This was a first for me to read Vonna Harper and while I thought the topic of grazing on government land to be interesting the story, Soul of a Cowboy, was choppy to me and felt rushed. I will be interested to give another story by her a look and see if I can better enjoy her writing style.
Trouble in Boots by Lynn LaFleur was a good read that in my opinion could have and should have been a full length story. I would have loved to explore the history of Keely and Nick in high school and I see the potential for a series in the sisters and their lifes.

Erotica and the contemporary working cowboy - what a great combination. Hot Alpha males and the women that want them make this 3 story collection a great addition to any erotica library.
These three novellas were hot and spicy with numerous passionate sex scenes and satisfying conclusions. Though they were too short for character development, the characters were all likeable and engaging.
This is a great opportunity to read a steamy story and possibly discover a new author. I would be interested in reading more from all three authors.

Read the first two novellas, had to return the book to the library before I could read the last.

"Soul of a Cowboy" was an odd read; there was this sense of disconnect with everything, an effect of the pacing or internal dialogue or something that made the whole thing feel oddly flat, at a remove. The characters were interesting, but they were so smooth--there was nothing to snag on and develop an emotional connection.

"Two for the Road" was delightful. More threesomes without any ugly homophobic undercurrents in romances! And the individual characters were really engaging--I wanted this to be a full-fledged novel, just to get to spend more time with them.

Two for the Road by Cat Johnson--a child-star grown up longs to spread her wings and finds a very adult adventure in the form of two cowboys she meets in her flight from her suffocating life.

Soul of a Cowboy by Vonna Harper--a journalist finds not only a story but a very appealing cowboy when she follows an assignment to a nearby ranch.

Trouble in Boots by Lynn LaFleur--one night years felt unforgettable but nothing comes of it until fortuitous circumstances allow a woman to act and seize the day AND her cowboy.

An enjoyable (and hot!) collection of cowboy themed tales.

Cat Johnson's story probably had the most 'adult content' of the three. It was a good story. It was all about sex...it's a short story in an anthology so it should be expected.

Vonna Harper's story was just weird to me. I was sometimes scratching my head over the conversation (or lack of) between the two. Also scratched my head over the foreplay (or lack of). Just didn't get it.

Lynn Lefleur's story was the best.

"TWO FOR THE ROAD" by Cat Johnson

This short story set in the Oklahoma Nights world is a quick, moving and totally HOT read.

Who wouldn’t want to be rescued by not one, but two utterly scrumptious Cowboys and sandwiched between them night after night.

I think I need to move locations!!
