The Spiritual Cure: An Explanation to Surah al-Fatihah

Rate this book
The Spiritual Cure, An Explanation To Surah Al Fatihah, A summary of Numerous Classical Commentaries of The Quran The underlying theme of al fatihah is one of contemplation and serenity; pondering the Names and Attributes of Allah, pondering the creation and acknowledging that He alone deserves praise and worship, that He alone should be asked for help, that He alone should be feared and hoped in that He alone should be invoked that there is indeed a Day of Judgement and that guidance has come to us and we are required to follow it. It calls us to carefully scrutinise our relationship with our Lord: are we living according to the dictates of ‘none has the right to be worshipped save of Allah’ or not? This opening chapter, despite its brevity, calls man to fulfil the rights of Tawhid, the right that Allah has over us to worship Him alone without any partners, in thirty places. This chapter summarises succinctly the message of the whole Quran.

The depth of the meaning of Surah Al-Fatihah alone was enlightening plus the amount the scholars have written on this little chapter is even more crazy. Now compare this to the whole Qur'an. Yikes.

This book explains the first chapter of the Qur'an i.e. "Al-Fatihah". It's a summary of numerous classical commentaries of the Qur'an e.g. at-Tabari, as-Sama'ni, al-Baghawi, as-Zamakhshari, ibn 'Atiyyah, ibn al-Jawzi, ar-Razi, al-Qurtubi, ibn al-Qayyim, ibn Kathir, as-Suyuti, al-Alusi, ash-Shawkani, as-Sa'di, ash-Shanqiti and many others. Prepared and translated by Abu Rumaysah. I really understand "Al-Fatihah" and transform my prayer. Strongly recommended!

• "Surah al-Fatiha is a cure for the diseases of the heart and the body."

• Some of the Salaf said: The secret of the Qur'an lies in al-Fatiha and its secret is the verse, "You Alone do we worship and You Alone we ask for help."

So beautifully articulated with mentions of hadiths, verses, and tafsirs by scholars of different schools of thought, also further explanations of the Surah itself, which made me ponder over such a small Surah as al-Fatiha, being such a treasure in The Holy Qur'an.
