A compendium of the work of several authors who are self-published in the fantasy genre, this is a nice way to read some writers who are better than the average fanfic but not quite ready for prime time. Like volume one, all of these works are fantasy. Many have rather notable grammatical errors, or unfortunately trite turns of phrase, but for the most part these are enjoyable, highly readable short stories. Here are the ones I particularly enjoyed:

The Path of Rebirth by Maxwell Alexander Drake - This was a well-paced and well-written origin story that made me want to read more by Mr. Drake.

Killing for Others by Christopher Bair - The violence against women in this story almost stopped me from finishing this, but the writing was quite good so I kept on going. The way the story is told from the point of view of an elf/slave who is obviously on our world (Earth) but who is from another place was very well done. Also, while the concept of someone who has been tortured equating pain with sex was at first revolting, it was explained in such a way that it really did make sense, given what the character was put through. I am not sure I would want to read an entire novel with this character as a protagonist, but I cannot say she was not interesting.

A Healer's Lesson by J.T. Hartke - This story of a healer was quite well done with nice descriptions that were not overly dramatic, and there was a nice twist at the end. I could easily read more by this author.

Sauce for the Goose by Brian Pettera - This was standard fantasy, but I have been a sucker for a bard story ever since I first read Dragonsong (by Ann McCaffrey) when I was a pre-teen, so I liked that a bard is the protagonist.

Release Me by Micaela Fischer - Despite an uneven writing style, I have to give the author kudos for dealing with the topics of domestic abuse and racism within a fantasy format.
