Paranormal Dragonshifter Romance

An unlucky bride..

Riona Grey lives life on her own terms, traveling wherever the next spaceship is flying and doing what she must in order to get by. When her luck turns sour, she finds herself on a bridal ship heading to a marriage ceremony. A planet full of dragon shifters seeking mates wasn’t exactly what she had in mind as a final destination. Just when she thinks things couldn’t possibly get worse, she wakes up months later in an isolation chamber with a sexy, hovering dragon shifter by her side telling her they’re meant to be together…forever.

The impatient groom...

After years of failed marriage attempts at the Breeding Festivals, the gods finally revealed Lord Mirek’s bride…a day too late. Eager to have her, he defied tradition and laid claim. But it is a mistake to go against the gods and his new wife was the one to pay the price of his impatience.

Now almost a year later, his bride is finally waking from her deep sleep. With one look from her, he feels the eagerness to claim her overtaking him once more. Fearful she’ll slip through his grasp once again, he’s hesitant to anger the gods by taking her to his bed too soon. But, how can he resist the one thing that would make his life complete, especially when she looks at him with eyes of a seductress? This is one test he can’t fail, and yet with one of her sweet kisses he knows he may already have lost.

This is the 5-star story of Riona and Mirek. Riona has just lost a bet of fifty-thousand space credits to Range because of her sister, Aeron. Aeron needs Riona's help in saving the planet Qurilixen. They need to find a way to get to Qurilixen and Riona finds the only spaceship going there. Only to get on it is to sign up as brides. Things do not go as Riona plans once they are on Qurilixen. When Aeron gets picked as a bride, she goes off with the man and Riona waits for her to come back. When she doesn't, Riona goes and looks for her. She is found by Mirek and his crystal starts glowing. She is caught by his green eyes. He takes her to Queen Mede, his aunt, and gets her blessing. She tells him to proceed and he hands Riona his crystal to break. This is the first part of the marriage. They don't get to the second part because something happens to Riona and she is really sick. Mirek has not been able to talk to her or hold her in months because if he touches her, it causes her pain. Her skin is blistered and peeling and she has been in a coma-like state. Once she wakes up, things between them do not go well. Riona sees her sister and finds out she is pregnant and gets upset over the news. She thinks that it is going to kill her sister. She finds out that all that she has been told her whole life has been just a way to keep kids from her race from fooling around with each other. Once this is proved correct, she wants Mirek. She tells him that she wants him but she is not going to stay there since she has a bet she has to pay off. Mirek offers to pay it but she tells him no. He instead offers her a job helping him with his work. He has to make an order for chocolate and it takes a long time to do. With Riona's help, it is done in just a few minutes. Mirek is impressed with how quickly she had done it. Riona and Mirek are at his brother's house, having dinner with all his brothers and cousins and their pregnant wives. Riona is feeling uncomfortable with how the wives are being treated. She has feelings for Mirek but doesn't feel like she is right for him. He sees that she is upset and he goes to her and tells her about a new client that wants to work out a contract for the ore they mine. This meeting is nothing but a trap to get to Riona. Range, the man that she owes fifty-thousand space credits to has gotten with someone else to get her. There is a game she must play and if she wins, her debit is over with, but if she doesn't win, Mirek will lose ore and money. At first, things are not going her way and then Range gets upsets and upset the game. Riona has wondered what has happened to Mirek and when he is brought into the room, she sees that something has happened to him. When Range hits her over something she said to him, Mirek shifted into his dragon. Range is told that the game must be played until the end. New rules are issued and Range is not happy with them. When Range gets upset, he does something and forfeits so Riona wins. She and Mirek leave Range and she never turns her back on him.
Will Riona now stay with Mirek since she doesn't have to worry about Range coming after her?
This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

THE IMPATIENT LORD is the eighth and final installment in the Dragon Lord series. But this is not the end of the on-going Qurilixen World Novels by Michelle Pillow. Each Dragon Lords installment takes place simultaneously.  The individual storylines and characters build upon each other throughout the series. Each story can be read as a stand alone, but so much better read in their proper order.

This series follow the Royal family as they find and win their destined mate. This is Lord Mirek's and Riona's story.

As usual in these stories, the chemistry between the main characters is hot, heavy and romantic. As in the other stories, the wedding night does not go according to Draig customs.

Lord Mirek reluctantly attends the Breeding Festival for the fourth time, but again his bride isn't there. The next morning, returning to congratulate his brothers on their brides he discovers a woman still in her wedding dress. As his crystal begins to glow, he knows she is his, but why didn't he find her last night?  Shortly after the Queen blesses their marriage, Riona flees into the forest. Mirek finds her unconscious in the yellow flowers, but no one understands why she won't wake up. Mirek does everything he medically can to take care of his bride, but nothing works. He blames himself for all the pain Riona is suffering. Finally, after months of being unconscious she wakes up. She doesn't want to be married and definitely won't consummate their supposed marriage, no way. Then there's the fifty thousand credits she owes Ranger.

I like the characters and their story, and the hero and heroine get their HEA. I do recommend this book and the entire series to anyone who enjoys fantasy romance on an intergalactic planet and some steamy and fun reading.

Finally! Mikek and Riona’s Story!!

Mikek is attending the Bridal Ceremony again with all of his brothers and cousins. Year after year none of them have found their bride. He is surprised when all of them find their brides except for him. Depressed he spends the night in the forest to be alone. In the morning he returns to witness the marriage ceremony to support his family and their honor. On the way there he stumbles across Riona, who snuck out of the ceremony and hid so no one could choose her. He is shocked when his crystal begins to glow! He knows he should wait another year to complete the marriage but he just can’t. So he pretends they spent the night in the ceremonial tent and presents her to the Queen as his bride. She blesses them and Riona breaks the crystal, not really knowing what she is doing. She sees her sister being carried off by one of the grooms and she runs after them to save her, convinced she is being kidnapped. She trips and falls into a field of yellow flowers which puts her into a coma. So months later she finally wakes up from the coma and is told she is married to Mikek. She is in shock to say the least. Then the fun begins!!

This is a delightful story of love and learning to trust each other. It is nice to finally put all the books together and what a great ending! A must read!

“How did I miss you?” he wondered aloud.

Finally we get Mirek and Riona’s story. We’ve had so many bits and hints and I’ve been wanting to know everything. This is the last of the four brother cousins and the final Dragon Lord book except the prequel that is book nine. It’s a fabulous end as it ties up all the loose ends. At the same time it’s bittersweet. I hate for it to end.

Mirek is as wonderful as the hero as I knew he would be. Riona was much more than I realized and I ended up adoring her. What a fantastic final heroine. The way they immediately connected was so wonderful. “Green…really green.” It made me almost laugh!

One of the coolest things about this series is that each story in each book occurred at the same time. We got to see the pov of each couple meeting the same night and all their interactions. I feel like I know every single one of them personally.

This book cannot be read as a stand alone. You have to read it last. In all honesty, reading these books out of order is a disservice to the entire series. Read them in order one by one. Let Michelle reveal each layer as she planned them. Don’t skip or jump around. This is a true series. Don’t cheat yourself out of the full experience. I feel so fortunate to have found this series, even if I came late. The Dragon Lord series is truly epic in every sense of the word.

This well-written, intriguing dragon shifter romance is sadly the last book in the “Dragon Lords” series & I am really going to miss this impressive world that is filled with absolutely unique individuals that get up to some unusual shenanigans. The storyline runs concurrently with the other books in this series & each of these books can easily stand on their own, as they have a different couple in each of them with their own problems & POVs. The plot has good world building & is quite intriguing with some totally unexpected situations that are well-described. I found the characters to be well-depicted with vastly different personalities & react with realistic emotional feelings according their current predicament, in particular I was really impressed by the romantic behavior & sheer determination displayed by Mirek in order to claim & keep his reluctant bride/mate (Riona) forever.
There is: space pirates, Draigs (dragon shifters), friendship, comradery, fated mates, action, adventure, intrigue, suspense, twists & turns, drama, humour, mystery, manipulations, complications, confusion, misunderstandings, disbelief, discovery, emotional turmoil, mischievousness, vulnerability, determination, compromises, contentment, some steamy scenes & a well-deserved happy ending with a really outstanding conclusion to the series.

A simply splendid read, thoroughly enjoyed
This was an enjoyable read the character Mirek and Riona were absolutely wonderful and I know that you will enjoy reading about them as much as myself. This is a major pulling together of the four royal cousins and their quest to find themselves brides.
Mireks is the Royal Ambassador and he is used to working away from home planet as he negotiates with various races, when he finds Riona his crystal begins to glow and he knows what this identifies and cannot help but be totally blown away.
Riona is not a shy retiring type and she decides that she is going to have a night of loving with the handsome Mirek without actually knowing the full actions and it meaning to him, she goes into hiding from the male that had actually mated himself to her but she is totally unaware believing it to have been a remarkable one-night stand.
I loved the thrill of the chase and the determination of Mirek to find his mate and the fact that when he does, he is prepared to do whatever it takes to keep her.
A great read.

Riona and Mirek had a rocky start. Riona never marched the bride line up. She spent the night looking for her sister. She's found wondering around by Mirek, who ends up claiming her for his wife. Their wedding ceremony not like it should have been. Then she's fall ill and in coma for months. When she wakes, she finds she's married, her sister is married and pregnant. Riona feels like she has no purpose on her new planet even tho she very attracted to her husband. Mirek does every thing he can to make his wife feel safe and loved. He gives her time and understanding, but his patience is running thin. He wants to start his married life after waiting so long for her. As Riona's past catches up, it'll be their love that'll pull them through the troubles.
I liked this book. It follows with the other Qurilixen books before with the prince's love stories as well as as the other lords. Many of the characters show up in each story even though they can be read as a stand alone book. Riona is a street smart type woman that is very intelligent and up for adventure at all time. Mirek is smart handsome and protect shape shifter that'll be do anything for his wife and family.

Riona was in the middle of a huge bet with a space pirate. Her sister arrived to demand her help. Riona blew her shot and lost the bet. Now she owed fifty thousand space credits to Range. Now she would help her sister get of the planet. Riona had forged papers to get them both on Galaxy Brides ship to Qurilixien. Her sister could inform the Qurilixian of the invasion. Then they both would leave. Both, she and her sister were brides to Draig grooms. Unfortunately, Riona fell into the yellows in the field. She fell into a coma. After many months, Riona wakes up to find out she really is a wife to Mirek.
Mirek is happy he found his bride. He, his brothers and the princes all found their mates at the festival. Unfortunately, his bride fell into a coma after the breaking of the crystal ceremony. He has cared for her by building the isolation medical unit to house her. He has waited many months for her to awake to him. Finally she awakes. Mirek learns she is uses him to hide out and get a way to pay off her debts. Riona will do anything to survive. She is a survivor. But she learns more about her husband and his planet. Can she be falling in love with him? Or does she still need to run?
Has a HEA.

I don’t know how much of this series Michelle M. Pillow planned out before she started writing, but she is either a very good planner or good at improvising because with this book she has brought the stories full circle and finished with a terrific conclusion. This book has Riona who has been in a coma for most of the other books waking up to find herself married to Lord Mirek when she always thought she would never be married. I enjoyed this book the most of the series I think because I identify with Riona a lot. She and her sister are the only survivors of their whole planet and she has been running away from that fact and towards excitement and keeping her brain busy so she never has to remember. Now I’m not a survivor of a planetary explosion I do talk a lot and always feel like I have to keep my brain busy. This book and this series have kept my brain delightfully busy with this marvelous bunch of stories that overlap in time and tell what happened to all these different couples. I recommend this book and this series highly. They don’t have to be read in order but I think it’s probably better if you can.

Great ending to the series!

Yes, I know there is a 9th book - it's a prequel about the King and Queen - It's awesome! But for the 8 bachelors that found their mates on the same Bride shipment, almost every question and loose end is answered except one (Kendall's sister) which is answered in His Metal Maiden.

Riona has been asleep for the last three books but she really makes up for lost time especially when she sees her medical records. Mirek really takes Riona's affliction to heart and constantly berates himself for her condition. I was sucked into the story and it ended in a flash. There are updates on all of the lords and their mates and Mirek and Ri's own story. I absolutely adored Ri's interaction with Monke. Overall, this story has a little of everything and a sister that that messes with Ri's gaming concentration at the worst possible moments.

Michelle M Pillow writes absorbing stories that keep your attention and keep you entertained. Grab any of the Qurilixen series and enjoy. However the MacGregor warlocks are freaking amazing (anxiously awaiting the Oct 2021 release of Night Magick).

Riona and her sister end up on a planet as possible wives. Riona slips off during parts of the ceremony so there is not a chance for her to meet a groom, her sister however does meet one. In an attempt to save her sister Riona happens to run into Mirek and he ends up marrying her. She tries to save her sister again and gets sick and is out in stasis for several months. Once Riona wakes up and she and Mirek talk and that eventually leads to them ending up in the bedroom together and its steamy. This story is similar to the others in the series in respect to the women surprising the men with their contributions to the planet. Mirek is very open to Riona working and contributing, he's much more open minded than some of the other men were. The story has a little action but not much and no noteworthy violence. There is also humor sprinkled throughout the story. This is part of a series, but this can be read as a standalone, enough background is at the beginning so you can enjoy it.

Riona (h), a rogue and gambler, gets her sister, Aeron, to Qurilixen courtesy of the Galaxy Brides program, and it’s a good thing since Riona owes gambling debts and is wanted by several alien races. She has no interest in being a Qurilixen bride and skips out on the bridal ceremony, though Mirek (H) still finds her and his crystal glows for her. Their marriage is blessed and then things go downhill when she has a severe allergic reaction that puts her into a months long, painful allergy coma. Mirek stands watch over his new bride the duration of her coma, praying for her to be okay. When she eventually emerges from the coma, Riona feels that she doesn't fit in with the other human-Draig marriages. Mirek has to work to convince Riona they are meant to be and that she brings her own value and worth - it was great to see her put her knowledge and skills to use. Eventually her past will catch up with her and she and Mirek will have to work together to reach their HEA. Nicely wraps up the HEAs for all of the human-Draig couples with family love all around.

This is book 8 in this section of Michelle M Pillow's Qurilixen world. It is also the story when we finally find out what happened/happens to Aeron's sister!!! That being said, it's Mirek & Riona's story.
I'm not going to spoil much with this review. I will say that it also sums up pretty much everyone else's stories as well and is a lovely ending. It also had a twist I never saw coming! This book goes from sad and heartbreaking to finding true love, true family and friends plus everything in between.
This can be read as a standalone and I do highly recommend it but I also highly recommend reading the whole series! You wont be disappointed.
I can't wait to read book 9 Her Dragon's Queen!! It's a prequel about Queen Mede (who cracks me up) & King Llyr. Then there is The Savage King which starts the Var portion!!
Michelle M Pillow's books don't disappoint so take a leap of faith and buy with one click.

The twists and surprises in this storyline had me hooked from the beginning. Mirek is an ambassador who deals with foreign contracts and people. Riona is a rogue and gambler who owes a lot of money. Hiding, she boards a ship with her sister - a bridal ship. Her sister marries the best friend of Mirek, but Mirek is still looking. When she goes into an allergic coma due to a plant on the planet, Mirek scouts everywhere for someone who can heal her.
The characters are unique and well done, with great backstories and intense feelings. The storyline has many twists and turns along the way to them working together and her becoming a great planetary asset. Suspense is always at the back with the people that she owes coming for her. The anticipation and unknown future is fantastic. Totally enjoyed the book and the ending was great. Very well done.

"I’m always up for a little mischief and adventure.”

Riona has been much talked about in previous stories, Nadja was looking for a treatment for her during her story, and her sister Aeron and her stories interweave in a lot of very nice ways.

Mirek is responsible for negotiating with off worlders for the ore from their mines, and while Riona may have no idea how a vagabond gambler could be meant for him, he quickly discovers the perks that come from having a wife familiar with aliens and their customs.

This is a genuine, laugh out loud fun read about a woman who has been so busy trying to live life to its fullest that she hasn't noticed the pressures she's put on herself, or some of the fears, and weights, she carries. Mirek, for his part, is an incredibly responsible person, who finds himself matched with someone who plays the odds, and takes chances he would never have dared before they met.

I was gifted with a copy of this book and chose to share my review.

Yes this is the end of one beginning and beginning of the end? Is that how you say it? I am not so sure anymore! For Mirek and Riona it is just the first of many tasks that have to be done before they can be proverbially married. It is filled with drama and suspense with a splash of romance that will sure have your heart in tatters but fear not there is a HEA here. Just not sure how happy everyone will be when it falls down. Miss Pillow provides us with another form of escapism and wonder. She had her characters driven within their own soul to succeed and prosper. Not only is she one of the best in this genre but she is masterful at weaving a story that anyone can get lost in! This series is one I have read when it was first released and will continue to come back to when I need my Pillow Fix.

This story is about a professional gambler trying to help her sister save a planet but ends up in a coma before she can fulfill her mission. A little under a year latter she wakes up to find that she's married and that her sister is married too. Now she has to figure out how to deal with what is to come next. This story can be read as a stand a lone book, but if you want to best understand who some of the characters are and what some of the comments are talking about, you should read some of the previous stories in this series. I also find that the author has a hard time maximizing the emotional impact in her stories. Aside from that, each of her stories included this one has inwrapped my attention and if your looking for and interesting, fun, and romantic read this is a good one for you.

Oh so fun to read And as always well thought out and we'll put together as all the books of miss pillow's that I have read. Come to think of it she is really spoiling me with with how well she writes her story's!
Adventure, romance and science fiction! Yeah ☺ now that I have read all of the Dragon books I guess I'll try the Lord's of the var series but the dragons hate them so much and they made me hate them so now miss pillow has her work cut out to make them hot. Lol since she wrote about them I am thinking she might have! So on to the next book. If you love dragon shifter, alpha males, space romance then this book is for you!
I just got to hear the audio for this wow its great, I loved it. Well worth getting. ☺

This last book in this timeline is bittersweet. We’ve seen a lot of Mirek and Riona (in a medical booth) in the last three books, you might wonder how four books could simultaneously span the same period and not be repetitious. But each of the women and circumstances are different enough that a different point of view is examined in each book. While Mirek has been a serious character, this story brings out his mischievous and witty side too. Keeping up with Riona though proves a challenge for him. She sure brings a sense of fun to his life. Their romance comes after the marriage but is no less angst filled or heartwarming. Great read.

Lord Mirek's & Lady Riona's story

Finally! The previous books provide enough snippets of information about this couple we are finally blessed with their story. What a wonderful adventure! We learn what actually happens to Riona Grey, older sister to Aeron Grey and gambler. We have many suspicions confirmed as well as very amusing banter between this couple. Love it! The ending was perfect! What a great ending for this generation of dragon lords. Reading about the four princes gaining brides and now the four cousins (King & Queen's nephews) also gaining brides in the same year, pretty entertaining. Reading the comments from 'grandma' Queen Mede when her sons and her nephews give her grandkids is delightful.

I've been looking forward to this book (though I DID read them in order!) due to Riona's larger than life personality. Riona is an adventurer, a gambler, and a survivor. But when her staid, rule-abiding sister Aeron needs her help, Riona pulled any trick she could to get her to the planet Qurilixen. But things don't go as expected, and the free-spirited Riona finds herself bound to the handsome Lord Mirek. Will the love of a husband, her sister, and the sense of belonging to a family trump Riona's thirst for adventure and urge to live life to the fullest? Can Mirek protect Riona from past failures? If you like romantic, fast-paced fantasy with steam, I recommend that you read this book and find out!.

This is Book 8 in the Dragon Lords Qurilixen World series. I have read all the previous books and looked forward to this one, and I was not disappointed. Riona Grey lives life on her own terms going where she pleases when she finds herself on a bridal ship flying to a marriage ceremony. Not quite what she was expecting. Lord Malik has been attending these marriage festivals for years with no success now the Gods reveal his bride…..but a day too late. However, Malik defies tradition and goes ahead and claims her but it is his bride who pays for his impatience. An enjoyable and well written story in which will get swept away as you follow Riona and Malik on their journey to a happy ending.

Mirek and Riona's Story . . .

Lord Mirek is once again attending the Bridal Ceremony with his brothers and cousins. Everyone but Mirek finds their bride. He had no way to know that his bride had sneaked off and was hidden in the woods. When he goes to the marriage ceremony the next day to support his family members, he runs into Riona Grey and his crystal begins to glow!

Mirek pretends he spent the night with Riona in the ceremonial tent and comes before the Queen who blesses them. Riona does break the crystal, runs after her sister when she sees her being taken away, and falls into a field of flowers. She goes into a coma for a year and awakens to find she is married! Will this be the start of their HEA? Or is her adventure only beginning?

Mirek and Riona’s story.

We’re reaching the end of the Dragon Lords series and this book is a winner. Mirek is well traveled as an ambassador and Riona is on the run from danger after losing too much gambling. When they meet they both experience an attraction but she’s only looking for a casual fling and he knows she is his mate. A year later when Riona recovers from an allergic reaction that has left her in a coma, the real give and take begins. We also visit with the other dragon lords and tie up some loose ends. The interaction between Mirek and Riona is great. He recognizes that she has a past but also realizes how much help she can be to him. She doesn’t wimp out and let him solve her problems. Definitely a 50/50 relationship. Great story, great series.

Entertaining series with some sweet and steamy romance! I enjoy the alien aspect; learning about the different alien types and their traditions. The whole mates thing is one of my favorites, but I wish the mates seemed a bit more important in this series; the heroines tend to always deny it and just be all around annoying about being mated. In this one, Riona, who has been in a coma for the previous books in the series, gets her time at romance with Mirek. Of course, Mirek is all in for being mates with Riona, but Riona has some misgivings. Good steam and connection between them though! Overall; a fun read!

This book 8 in the Qurilixen Lords, Dragon Lords Book Series is an interesting, steamy, standalone full-length, shifter Romance with a tough, rugged and sexy alpha male and an independent bride. This well constructed book has wonderful characters who are well crafted with amazing personalities. This was an engaging story with depth, personality, and intriguing world construction. The characters in this book are very well crafted with problems which they overcome and the characters grow in the story. A must read story

We have waited so long for Mirek’s story. And it was amazing. I think this is one of my favorites.

Riona is finally awake after months of being in a coma. Of course she doesn’t believe she is married and puts poor Mirek through the ringer. Riona didn’t feel she brought anything to her match with Mirek, not like she saw in all the other brides. But as she began to “work ” for Mirek, she finally realized she had a lot to offer.

Some parts made me giggle, like the nesting scene. Totally cracked me up. This book was a great ending to this part of the story arc.

This book is part of a series and I recomend reading them in order to get the best out of the book. This book was great and gave you another view of the characters and their lives. There are a few moments where you want to hold your breath as you read the story, there are a few scary parts as well as some loving. Michelle M Pillow has done well in providing a fantastic book in a fantastic series. This world is well developed and the characters are believable.

I read this a couple of years ago, and really enjoyed it. I decided to reread several of the books in this series. They are so very good! Michelle Pillow is such a talented world builder! I feel transported to this world. I recommend that you read the series in order, but each novel could be read stand alone. We meet Mirek and Riona in earlier books and I was excited to get to their story. I loved how loving and patient Mirek was as Riona learned how to trust in love.
