Carrigan LeRoy is tired of the war. He's seen far too many torn bodies filled with seeping holes, and shattered minds. The war is winding down, and he is weary of the endless cutting, sewing, and hollow promises of life, only to see another soldier buried. It was at just this moment a man no older than twenty was laid upon his operating table and Carrigan’s world changed forever. A band of renegades are waiting for a letter carried by a dead man. They have high hopes of riches, if they can procure one very important Northerner. The Confederates know that the war is lost, and their only hope is to secure one element of leverage that could help force terms with the Union. The problem? The South has put their hopes in the hands of a band of slave hunters, and those men are not quite the cream of the crop. Carrigan and his companions’ race against time to foil a plot that could change the course of history, but what can two Union surgeons and one cartographer do? Don’t underestimate the cunning of two old sawbones and a mapper!
Within the fiery crucible of the abyss of time I was conceived. From that sticky, and unwashed oblivion came I upon this world to entertain you.
Author Lawrence BoarerPitchford has written more than 10 novels, and published to Amazon 8. From his cramped office, he stoops over his keyboard, candle burning ever shorter next to him, and puts his mental imagery onto paper (ebooks, hard cover, and paperback).
BoarerPitchford said, "It is not an easy thing to birth (or berth) the undulating mass that once was just a seed of an idea. With each contraction, the story gels, and with the final push - splashed with the hot fluid of life-giving coffee, and half drowned in scotch, the story is born. Shortly followed by the re-write afterbirth, and 5-10 years of loving and nurturing in the market."
As an Indi-Author, the sale of Lawrence's books contribute directly to his bottom line. Please, purchase not only his novels, but those of other Indie-Authors who depend on your modest purchase to help them continue to create and publish fine fiction for you.
If you like historical fiction I would definitely recommend this book! It's a quick read with a great story line, and a few unexpected twist. Plus I like the way the author draws you into the story with his detailed, descriptive writing.
Sawbones is the end result of many years of hard research and work. It is a novella, but lacks none of the punch and depth of a full novel. I hope that you like reading it as much as I liked writing it.
