While I've loved the previous two books I have to be honest and say I found this one disappointing, it started well but ultimately I just didn't see the point it was the same old, same old. We have a kidnapping, surprise surprise, lots of new characters and a convoluted plot, this whole book seemed unnecessary and I really wish I'd never bothered to read it. Early on it seemed different to the previous two, the conversations between some of the characters seemed annoyingly childish and while I appreciate I'm not the target audience I do read a lot of books aimed at the young adult market. I now have a decision to make book 4 is out and 5 is available to pre-order so just how many books are in this series and are they all going to be exactly the same. I've just checked out the reviews for book 4 and I've decided I'm not going to bother reading anymore apparently it has a lot of Tony which I for one could do without and it's not sounding good I'm sick of going round in circles so I'm going to quit but one thing you can be certain of there will be at least one kidnapping in there.
Blood Chosen Is another exciting , adventurous series filled with tension, romance, attitude, and danger at every turn. Once again, there are adventures, kidnappings, and deceit around every corner! ~ Nook Books and More Blog
For Julia, her perfect blood is a curse, because it could cost her not only her own life, but the lives of those she is determined to protect. The prophecy says her reign as Queen will bring peace between sworn enemies, but will a challenger with Royal blood rise up against her? That is remains to be seen. You must read to find out! I can't decide between her strengths yet. She's strong yet week at times. Her loved ones gives her strength and this I think will carry her through.
There are several more characters added to this book as well. They just get darker and darker. You can expect the unexpected as you travel through the different sides and turmoil that Ms. Blodgett has woven. Oh what a tangle web we weave!
The story has several POV as per the other books giving you a clear picture of much detail as each scene plays out. It's as though I can picture it all. I freaking love it as the good clashes against evil, and they collide! Who will survive?
Each character comes to life and bleeds off the pages with their own unique style and freshness. The ability to make such diversity in the characters, their abilities, and their characteristics is phenomenal. It definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat. Can we say cliffhanger! Omg you experience many different emotions that keep your heart racing. I think at one time The loss that Julia experience crushes my heart with sadness. I hope it's not permanent. Awesome read a must!
This third installment of the amazing new adult Blood Series by Tamara Rose Blodgett takes on a much darker, edgier tone as tensions rise between the three groups: Singers, Vampires, and Weres. Julia, thought to be off the hook and out of danger since choosing a mate among the Singers finds rather quickly that some knowledge has been withheld—mainly, how the Queen Singer must align the three groups through marriage… something neither Scott nor Julia want to hear having just declared their feelings for one another.
To make matters worse, Julia’s husband (by human law), Jason, is on the prowl, and he’s none to happy to see his wife engaged to another, even if their past human lives bear no authority in the magical realm and he feels nothing for her… or does he? Mix in an honorable vampire, William, who is willing to risk all for Julia, and everything Julia thought she knew and wanted becomes extremely strained as tempers flare, profanities fly alongside fists, and dangers lurk around every corner.
Full of angst and with the reappearance of Jacqueline and the sadistic, misogynist Tony, relations are even further tested and, unbeknownst to our would-be heroes, there is more dangerous magic at work than they ever realized existed. Forced to put their anger aside and work together, Scott, Jason, and William along with the most trusted among their groups plunge head first into a war they most likely can’t win against an ancient and powerful magic they’ve never dealt with before. It is here that Blodgett really wows her readers with the insertion of a magical realm thought only to be a rumor amongst the groups, thrusting the characters into danger unparalleled in the previous novels and, sadly, ending with the death of a beloved character, for a magic this dark will cannot leave all unscathed.
I was completely blown away with Blodgett’s additional magical group—a group I’ve read much about in many other novels, but never thought would show itself within the Blood Series, and yet, they fit quite nicely, and Blodgett’s definitely done her homework concerning with sadistic group of meddlesome entities. But, no spoilers here. If you want to know who they are, you’ve got to read the series, because it’s a great one, touching on realistic emotions and not sugar coating the ups and downs of life. You’ll be hooked.
Oh My! Where to begin! Firstly, Tamara needs a medal! That must have been an incredibly difficult story to write! There are so many characters, species and plots going on that all intertwine, it's genius!
Julia is a Blood Singer. A species of mortal with differing paranormal powers that are pure of blood. Julia is the Rare One who is prophecised to unite the Vampire, Were and Singer species. Everyone wants her for their own gain. Julia is faced with many difficult decisions and situations as the new Queen of the Singers, one of them being in a "love-square" with her Were husband, Jason, her Singer soul-meld mate, Scott, and her once Vampire captor, William. She has to decide whether she is willing to become a mated wife to all three fellas to solidify the unity between the different species, giving them all a future of peace and herself immortality; or to choose to belong only to her soulmate and live with a constant personal guard, forever watching her back because of the evil Jacqueline, who is determined to be in power no matter what it takes.
This isn't even the tip of the iceberg peeps! There is so much more going on! Dynamics and constant rivalry between the species makes for a very entertaining read! Action, suspense, intrigue, romance and a big ol' bunch of awesomeness make this a must read! We're left with a tragic death and an ending that makes you want more... NOW!!
The characters in the Singers Series are amazingly developed. You form connections with all of them because you are privy to knowing and feeling what they do. In saying that, One of the things I love most about Tamara's writing, is that she writes kick ass hateful villains! Oh how I loathe them! Jacqueline, Tony, Queen Darcel and Cormack are almost too much to bear! You just want to smack them out so bad while being dumbfounded by their cold and conniving calculating!
In my humble opinion, the Blood Singers series could be the next The Vampire Diaries or True Blood series! There is so much story to tell with awesome characters it would so damn good! So to any screen writers or producers out there...What are you waiting for??? But, and this is a huge "but".... DON'T CHANGE A BLOODY THING!!!! It's perfect as it is!
The Singers series: Blood Singers #1, Blood Song #2, Blood Chosen #3, are an absolute must read if you're after a new adult paranormal fantasy novel that grabs you by your eye lids and doesn't let you go.
After not so patiently waiting for this next instalment in the Blood Series, I have to say, this Novel has NOT disappointed me! Yet again Tamara Rose Blodgett has been able to easily slip you right directly straight back into where the exciting cliff hanger left you off in Blood Song. For the first word action, intrigue, lies, truths, love and hate are all evident and described in such detail not only in each individual plot, within the main story plot for each character that it allows you to really see this fascinating and unique world that Tamara has crafted, from each of the characters eyes, their points of view as well as you, the third party reader - You will feel like you are inside the Novel right there with them experiencing every emotion, every action and depending on which character you relate to the most/which character is your favourite their personal story.
You are easily gripped and pulled back into the run away, action packed, emotional and physical steam train that Julia, her friends, the Weres, the Vamps, the 3 loved ones and each of many ones who wish her harm, are all on, and boy are you in for another twisting, turning ride that will fully surprise you and in parts bring you, as the reader, so far into the book that you will not know where the Novel begins and you end! You will share all their joys and feel all of their pain because inside this Novel a world of wonder is to be found!
This is a book not to be missed and was so gripping and hard to put down I read it within 12 hours, so make sure you carry on with Julia's journey into who she is and who she thought she knew really are because some she can truly trust and other not so much. She will discover, come what may just who those around her are, because believe me when I say that everything you thought you knew is about to be blown away and replaced with so much more!!!!!
Where do I start? Blood Chosen Tamara Rose Blodgett is signature Tamara! Filled with tension, romance, attitude, and danger for Julia at every turn, once again, there is no time to take a breather from start to finish! For Julia, her perfect blood is a curse, because it could cost her not only her own life, but the lives of those she is determined to protect. The prophesy says she will reign as queen, bringing peace between sworn enemies, but will a challenger with Royal blood rise up against her? Is she too soft to do what must be done? Will she find strength in the bond between her and her true soulmate?
Expect your villains to be villainous, expect the unexpected as you travel through the maze Ms. Blodgett has woven. With brilliant detail each scene will play out in 3-D in the theater of your mind, you will be there as good clashes against evil, no holds barred! Each character comes to life, with their own distinct quirks and personalities. This is a tough world, not for the faint of heart and it shows with Ms. Blodgett’s “in-your-face” style, bold and unapologetic for her crisp style. Often, a great plot gets softened with stilted or flat dialogue, no problems with that here as the characters take over and speak their minds with all the attitude and snark they possess! Like I said before, Signature Tamara, bold, out there and unique!
Blood Chosen, book three in the Blood Series is one not to miss! Series: Blood, Book 3 Genre: Adult Dark Fantasy/Paranormal/Sci-fi
Take your favorite paranormal beings, shake in some awesome snark, amazing alphas, kick @ss heroins then add in some non-stop action and you've got Blood Chosen, a recipe for a completely delectable read!
The circle of protection is now complete. Julia has found her soulmate but danger still lurks around every corner. Every supernatural being wants to have her perfect blood and the only way to make her invincible is something she would of never considered. More of the prophecy is revealed bringing more characters into play. Will a bond with her true soulmate save them all? You are going to have to read Blood Chosen to find out.
In avoiding spoilers all I can say is...I was thrilled with the out romantic come! I don't know how Tamara turned the improvible into possible but it completed worked for me.
Blood Chosen brings many plot and group revelations to the forefront. Blodgett dives deep into her characters making us feel each heart felt emotion as it was our own. We are masterfully taken on the next adventure right through the eyes of the characters.
This story had a complex plot, I was breathless with anticipation, shocked by the stories twists and turns and blown away by the ending. From start to finish, I was riveted to the pages and spent a sleepless night reading because I just needed to know what was going to happen next.
Wow. Just wow. This was full of twists and turns. So unexpected. It felt like there were fireworks exploding everywhere! Such a great addition to the series!
Having had a few days to absorb the full impact of this book, and trust me it's needed, all I can say is EPIC. From cover to cover Tamara takes us on a wild ride. It has it's ups, it has its downs, but it is always phenomenal.
For people who have a hard time following multi-pov's of the series, I have to tell ya, I didn't struggle as much with Chosen. And I am the beta that asked for the index. It's two parts, I knew who the characters are. Tamara really gave them a full range of depth in this one. It's just. The other two singers books were fantastic, but this one is fucking EPICsauce!
Tamara Rose Blodgett's NA novels have this dark sexiness to them that I really love. Blood Chosen is no exception and is one of my favourites so far. Julia is a strong, powerful female character and the love interests are equally strong and incredible sexy. This series has a sort of love triangle going on but boy does it work! Unlike some books where it is obvious a second love interest has been added for extra drama and will clearly never get the heroine I don't have a clue who Julia will choose.
I am excitedly looking forwards to the next book in this series.
Quite disappointing. The first two were quite good but not overly sure what to make of this one. I found the ending disappointing and themes repeating over and over again, which eventually makes for a boring read.
The blood series continues in this book three Blood Chosen story, the battles, the understanding and the relentless struggle for power continues in the story line Julia and the others continue to battle for the unification of all the supernaturals. A good book one you should read.
She will be bound by fang, claw and blood, the kiss of the moon on high against where she lays to sleep. The queen shall bear the mark of the peacekeeping Singer....Your blood calls to us. It sings to us. We follow it like a melody on the wind. All roads lead to the Blood Singer. This girl. The Blood Singer from the Book of Blood. The Rare One. In the absence of hope, darkness bloomed like a black orchid.
Since this is the first time I have read this series, I am reviewing it as a whole (books 1-8), rather than each book. WOW! What a truly FANTASTIC series!!! This series is my soap opera, in all the best, juciest ways! So addicted! Need to know what’s happening and NOW! :) I was thoroughly addicted, caught in its grip, unable to put it down! I love, Love, LOVE how Tamara Rose Blodgett weaves such an intricate story complete with love, heartbreak, heartache, passion, friendship, enemies, lovers, allies and oh so much more all while seamlessly integrating so many characters to love & hate (sometimes both!) who belong to any one (or more!) of numerous species but done in a way to keep the reader engaged and following along, incorporating them without even realizing just how many people you now know & follow! It’s in depth in all the right places & ways and has such deep, dark passionate tones, as well as the lighter, happier sides too, that are all brought together so perfectly to make one helluva unique and creative series! I am blown away by the multitude of species and their abilities both as a whole, as well as what each individual is capable of! Each and every aspect & piece of the story brings layer upon layer of enrichment from complex characters, scenery, flow of the storytelling to the compelling storylines! Love the vernacular, quips, quotes & wording that fits for each character and/or species, meaning that the teens or "young'ins" speak & act as they should, while the "old" ones speak as they should, which adds an even deeper layer of "realism" to the story & characters. It was so hard to figure out the "good guys" from the "bad guys", (which is a great thing!) but what chafed me the most is falling for one that I was so sure was worthy of my adoration, then finding out he is total scum!! LOL But that is why I love, Love, LOVE Tamara's books! Her ability to write & create such deeply enriched books that capture my attention, drawing me in so deep that it feels like I am living the story, being surprised by every twist & turn that I never saw coming, really meeting & becoming friends (or enemies) with the multifaceted characters, becoming said characters, seeing every single bit of it in my mind’s eye, time after time, book after book, series after series, no matter the genre, is proof of just how phenomenally talented and exceptionally gifted Tamara Rose Blodgett truly is and why she is one of my absolutely favorite authors to read & binge read!!
I just finished reading "Blood Chosen" by Tamara Rose Blodgett, and I'm still reeling from the experience. This book is part of the Blood series, and it's clear that Blodgett has crafted a world that's both rich in detail and full of complex characters.
The story is full of unexpected twists and turns, keeping me on the edge of my seat as I turned the pages. The characters are well-developed and relatable, with intricate relationships and motivations that drive the plot forward.
One of the standout aspects of this book is the world-building. Blodgett has created a unique and immersive world that's full of depth and history. The supernatural elements are woven seamlessly into the narrative, adding an extra layer of complexity and intrigue.
If I have any criticisms, it's that some of the plot threads feel slightly rushed or convenient. However, these are minor quibbles in an otherwise engaging and well-crafted story.
Overall, "Blood Chosen" is a gripping paranormal fantasy that's sure to appeal to fans of the genre. With its engaging characters, immersive world-building, and suspenseful plot, it's a must-read for anyone invested in the series. I'm eagerly anticipating the next installment to see where the story goes from here.
Blodgett's writing style is engaging, and she expertly balances action, suspense, and romance to create a thrilling narrative that will keep you hooked from start to finish. If you're a fan of paranormal fantasy, you'll likely enjoy "Blood Chosen" and the Blood series as a whole.
Book one was good. Book 2 had enough going on that I got book three.. but I can't do it. This book made me stop by the series. This book got complicated to read, keep plots and characters separated, and had no spice.
The conversations/dialogues are repetitive, the plot is repetitive, and there is nothing new. Every time she gets kid apped theres ANOTHER potential love interest. At this point I just roll my eyes. The addition of so many characters and points of view make it hard to focus. Overall, I'd get a headache and stop. Not. Bad read if you can keep track of a lot of sub plots and like 6 different points of view. Spoilers below on specifics that made me quit.
. . . . . . . Ok, so every time she gets kidnapped there's a new love interest or potential mate. Sure. But at this point I think there's what, 4 guys and a rapist? I understand YA needs some Romantic tension but that's just too much. Then there's the whole "you can mate with them all" option which sounds like a great RH read, but not something I think will happen in a YA series. I got the books without realizing they were YA and was frustrated at the slow sexual tension building up and no spice. Now I know it's YA and am confused why the RH option.

Blood Chosen (The Blood Series Book 3) ~~ By the time I got into book three, I was fully strapped into this roller coaster. Julia steps into her role more, but that doesn’t stop the supernatural world from trying to own her. I loved the back-and-forth between the vampires and wolves, especially as we finally start seeing what Julia’s heritage really means. The girl cannot catch a break — kidnapped, hunted, claimed — everyone wants something from her.
What surprised me here was how much the side characters started to shine. The alliances shift again, and you start seeing who actually has a heart and who is just pretending. Julia keeps discovering new pieces of her power, but that just makes her even more of a target. This book really sets the tone that everything from here on out is going to get heavier.
I would definitely recommend this book and series and can’t wait to start on the next book. If you want to know what happens next, you’ll just have to read this series yourself — you won’t regret it.
It's the third book from a 6-book series. Genre is new adult fiction. It has supernaturals and stuff like that. It's set in places like Alaska and Canada. So It's mainly about a girl who is destined to be "special" in the world of supernaturals. She didn't know about this until she nearly faced death. I like the concept of this book, but I think the characters need more "character" and personality in them and I think Blodgett's writing style just doesn't work for me.
I read all seven books back to back - now I wish I didn't have to wait until next year to see how it all ends. They're are so many different things going on. It'll be hard to remember it all!
If you like werewolves, vampires, angel-enhanced humans with powers, demonic, angelics, and fae, this series is for you.
Goodreads should have a 'Hated it' option because this book definitely fits that. I mean 'what the actual fuck' totally describes this book and not in a good way. I hate love triangles that are indecisive, but this one was a square and then another potential dude is thrown into the mix so what is that now, a pentagon? Stupid. Nothing really happens to that bitch, Jacqueline. Julia is whining around that they don't love her willingly, yet she says she doesn't want to marry them all, but she will. *barf* What happened to monogamy? Is that out of style now? **Spoiler alert** Fey arrive on the seen out of nowhere. Supposedly myth to the Singers, etc, but are real and really badass in terms of power. They want Julia for herself, because apparently she can cleanse the Fey bloodlines, so naturally they want her as there Queen. She is so damn annoying, I don't see why anyone likes her. The cavalry arrives to say her and find out that Fey magic broke the soul meld between Scott and Julia, permanently. SO apparently he doesn't love her now? WTF? Asks to marry Jason even though he's been a dick and tried to kill her. Like a flipped switch, Jason is happy and instantly says yes. Fucking stupid. And of course something happens right at the end so there's a cliff hanger. If she doesn't end up with Scott in the next book, I'm never reading another book by Blodgett again. I'm sick of being thrown around from guy to guy.
*A complimentary copy of this book was gifted to me in exchange for my honest review.*
Blood Chosen is book three of Julia's story. She's accepted who she is but with so much danger lurking around it's hard to stay true to that fight. Maybe just a little considering that her mate is feeling obligated to care for Jules out of duty and not in the name of love. I was very sad over the loss of a certain shapeshifting vampire. That right there broke my heart, Tamara, along with Jules. Why, Tamara? I just wasn't prepared for that. With danger, romance, and intensity this story keeps the reader glued to the very end of the pages. I love a great storyteller and Tamara is one of the best!! With such an array of paranormal creatures, and how you're not confused as to who's who or what may be going on, it just comes together as a great story. This is Urban Fantasy as it was meant to be.
I really wish I hadn't bought this book. I'd read the first two books in the series and they were just okay, but I found myself wanting to see what happened next.
This book didn't do that. Instead of answering the questions/problems posed in the previous books and introducing new ones, we get a bunch of new characters tossed into the mix while our heroine Julia spends 75% of the book angsting about the necessity of taking 3 supernatural husbands. And then...
None of the returning characters became at all more interesting, and none of the new characters was fleshed out enough for me to care about.
I wasn't remotely tempted to pick up the next book in this series. I'm done.
I spent most of the book on pins and needles! The entire time, I thought, "This poor girl just can't catch a break!" The worse part is that her luck runs the same direction heading into the next book. There were moments of great humor, that had me giggling out loud. But, the moments that brought tears are the ones I'm still getting over...even into the 4th book in the series. I love that I don't know which way things are going to go next. Just when I think, I have it all figured out, something new happens. Her books keep me guessing, and I like that. Looking forward to getting through this next one!
This is another great book. The third in this series. There are not only weres, vamps and singers yet also the fey. There are two more to come to assist Julia, a Were and a vamp. We find out that one is the daughter to Tony. This book is action packed. Julia is taken by the feys, the queen needs her blood to over come her sickness. Believe it or not, they need Jacqueline to lead them to the fey. We lose someone in this book, I won't tell you who but he died trying to save Julia. This is a great story and I am anxious to start the 4th book.
