This is a manga about long hair, beautiful intricate wardrobe and very, very little else.
Skylar is the first witch to be born in centuries, the last witches having escape persecution by abandoning the land. In that time, magicians, male magic practitioners who use a bastardized version of magic rule the land with an iron fist. Skylar befriends and falls in love with a bad tempered alchemist, Kaylus who helps her develop her powers.
This could have been an awesome adventure rich story rife with interesting character developments and plot twists.
Not so much.
For too much of the story, the reader is shown how terrible the magicians are both to witches and to the female population. We learn that the magicians cannibalize witches' dead bodies, experiment and tortured the few witch descendents, all in the name of power. Nothing is really done, which should have set up the main villain to the story.
Skylar, the last and only powerful being in existence, is set up to save the world. And she does, but truly by chance. For too much of the story we are subjected to Skylar and Kaylus's flirting/arguing and these stock images of them embracing with flowing hair everywhere.
Yes, we get it, they are pretty. No magic. No fights.
First, what I absolutely detest with this series, is how inconsequential Skylar's powers are. She can control over all of nature and does nothing. When faced with all the injustices and real persecution of the witches, she leans on Kaylus for everything. She doesn't get angry, she doesn't act curious, she doesn't feel outrage or even any fear...BECAUSE the author doesn't allow her to confront any of the real conflicts of the overall story. She doesn't wrestle with her conscience, she isn't challenged and barely uses her awesome power for anything except to accidentally grow some trees.
Why manga artist why?
Second, I honestly don't know why Skylar and Kaylus were paired. I was totally hoping for a love triangle situation between Jewel, Kaylus and Skylar just to ramp up the intensity but to no avail. Mostly I would have loved it if only for a better understanding of Kaylus and Skylar relationship. Besides the ick factor of a 15 year suddenly put in the body of an adult woman and Kaylus's obsession/stalking, where does the actual romance come in? Besides Kylie sudden realization that he's obsessed with this girl, why are they good together?
My last upset, I absolutely do not love how little her family's opinion or feelings mattered to either of them.
Okay book, but had the potential to be more than just a superficial romance.

Good book except the beginning & concerned Kaylus. After Kaylus rescued Skyla, there is another problem, which is the reason why Ren came to find Kaylus in the 1st place. Ren tells them what happened at the summer palace.
Amenard have no more use for Aine, after taking her blood she heads to the location where the titan sleeps & opens the doors for him to rise up. But her plans fail & end up killed by Aines.
Jewel says a final farewell to Skyla which upsets her greatly & her soul is sent to meet the titan. They chat for a bit before he asks a favor of her & he falls back asleep.
Skyla returns to her body thanks to Kaylus, sees his golden eyes for the 1st time then informs him that she wants to travel the world with him, communicating with the world, informing them that they are no longer alone, that the witch Skyla is back.
Meanwhile the magic consumes Lionel & he turns into a monster, kidnaps His Majesty & the Imperial Guards failing to rescue him. Skyla shows up, rescues His Majesty, passes him to Kaylus who gives him to Ren, while she battles the monster.
7 years later: Skyla has been speaking to the world & thus magical creatures are returning & appearing before humans again. She is the most talked about since she reappeared. His Majesty, now 14 years old, is excited to have a painting of the witch & plans to make her his empress.
Kaylus has a surprise for Skyla; he opens the doorway in which the witches left. The witches are returning to the world, shocking Serendel as it took 7 grand witch's powers to do that & finally realises who he is, that he has god's blood in him.

Good book except when the Titan was teasing Skyla about leaving & the space that the witches made for him.
Shocked by Jewel's death, Skyla falls into a coma. In her unconscious state, she arrives at the place where the titan sleeps. There, she meets the titan, who tells her of the tragic past of the gods, the titans & the witches.
But at that moment, Amenard who has collected all the heirlooms of the witches, tries to awaken the titan from his slumber.
Finally, the last battle between the titans, who is trying to destroy the world, & Skyla, who is trying to protect it, begins.
But it wasn't much of a battle since the titan wasn't planning on leaving but he gives Skyla a single task of communicating with the world.
When Lionel turns into a monster, he kidnaps His Majesty who is rescued by Skyla, a friendly witch passing by. That is the beginning of the world learning that a witch has returned.
7 years later; Skyla remains popular. Kaylus is jealous of how much time Skyla spends on helping the world that he opens a portal allowing the witches to return.

Wah, akhirnya tamat juga, ending-nya memuaskan juga, walaupun lovey dovey scene-nya Kaylus dan Skyla masih kurang byk nih di ending-nya. Dan salah satu yg kusesalkan adalah nasibnya Jewel...T_T oh Jewellll, kasihan bgt....coba kalo kamu bisa hidup bahagia ama Aine... Dan omong2, sbnrnya gmn dgn nasib Aine? kasihan juga si Aine ini....T_T Hansel juga, tragis bgt hidupnya... Dibenci dan dikutuk ayah kandungnya, ditinggal mati ibu kandungnya, diperalat istrinya, lalu mati dibunuh selagi kabur dari para magician yg haus kekuatan sihirnya... Padahal Hansel cuma ingin hidup sebagai gardener bersama putranya, yaitu Kaylus... Banyak yg nasibnya tragis dlm kisah ini...termasuk salah satu tokoh antagonisnya, Amengarde yg dijadikan kelinci percobaan oleh para magician...
Sbnrnya aku agak bingung knp Kaylus ini punya God's blood, bknnya dia itu cuma mix human + witch? So, aku berasumsi kalo Antoine (kakeknya Kaylus) itu sbnrnya punya darah dewa.
Antoine (garis keturunan raja manusia biasa yg punya darah dewa) + Lorelei (witch) = Hansel.
Hansel (warlock) + Adeline (distant relative of witch) = Kaylus.
Perlu diingat kalo witch, warlock, titan itu not a human, so they are immortal and forever young and beautiful. So, ga heran kalo Kaylus ini keliatan muda bgt. Lalu krn Hansel dan Kaylus ini sama2 tumbuh besar di dunia fairy yg dimensi wktnya berbeda dgn dimensi wkt manusia biasa, sehingga pertumbuhan tubuhnya melambat. Maka ga heran kalo 600 tahun telah berlalu tapi Kaylus masih di usia muda.
Jika asumsiku tentang Antoine yg punya darah dewa itu salah, maka berarti Kaylus itu reinkarnasi dari Raja Dewa yg meninggal akibat perang dgn Titan.
One of the best fantasy manhwa indeed. Storyline yg keren, byknya plot twist, ditambah artwork yg bgsss bgt : wanita cantik dan pria tampan dlm balutan pakaian indah bertebaran dlm manhwa ini.
Awal2 baca manhwa ini terkesan oke2 aja, masi blm tau mau dibawa ke mana. Tapi dari volume 3 ceritanya makin menarik dan dari volume 7 atau 8 tambah seru ceritanya. Tadinya kukira ini bakal isinya triangle romance yg ckp cheesy and melodramatic. Ternyata bukan. Dgn pacing yg cepat dan full action, Absolute Witch adalah cerita tentang saat dunia dipenuhi witch (penyihir perempuan yg lahir dari Titan dan Dewi Bumi), Warlock (penyihir pria yg merupakan anak dari Witch), Magician (penyihir pria yg awalnya manusia biasa namun memperoleh kekuatan sihir dgn cara memakan daging mayat Witch), Gods, Fairies, Dragon, dll... Pokoknya baca manhwa ini jadi ingat ama karya Rick Riordan nih, so bagi para cewe yg suka karya Rick Riordan mesti baca manhwa yg satu ini.
Sudah cukup lama sejak terakhir kalinya baca fantasi manhwa yg keren seperti ini. Bbrp manhwa fantasi yg menurutku plotnya bagus adalah Princess, Boy Princess (Shounen-ai), Saver, The Queen's Knight, Legend of Nereid, Sweety Gem, The Bride of the Water God, Four Daughters of Armian, dll.

I wished that I've gotten to see more of Skyla's and Kaylus's life.
