From the #1 international bestselling author in Horror, Men's Adventure, Hard Boiled Mystery, and Police Procedurals comes a Texas Chainsaw Massacre-style horror short story...Supper
I have downloaded at least a dozen or more books and short storie by Carolyn McCray. "Supper" is the first one I've actually read. My next move will be to put all her other books at the top of my to-be-read list. THIS WAS AWESOME!
I don't know how I have lived this long without having discovered her earlier, but I intend to make up for lost time.
Sure, there was gore galore. The "gross" factor was off the charts, on several different levels. The author has taken horror to a whole new height! She could teach roller coaster engineers a thing or two about twists and turns.
Right at the start, in the Prologue, I was sure I had the story already figured out. I was even so arrogant as to wonder why she "gave it away" right up front like that. Boy, was I ever off base! I may have to schedule surgery, to get my insides untwisted now.
I don't know what else to say, other than: BUY THIS BOOK! In fact, she should sell this in the "Diet Book" section; I'm sure a lot of people will skip a few meals after reading this. This story just defies description; it's too good for words!
This could have been a good book, if the author hadn't tried to throw in so many twists and turns; missing relatives, cannibalism, incest, and a gay guy thrown in just for the heck of it, etc. The gore was way overdone and there were parts that were so nasty, I felt like I was going to barf. The author writes slasher fic, gore filled horror instead of the Paranormal Activity type of horror, so it came off as campy and more like torture porn than horror. I would not recommend reading this book, save your time and money.
This the most unoriginal piece I've read. It's not terrible if you're looking for a short horror story but as far as originality this story has been written before multiple times. (And you've seen it before if you 've seen any of Hollywood's slasher films like Wrong Turn, The Hills Have Eyes, etc.) The lack of originality made this a boring read. If you want something creative then move on but if you want the same old same old then this is the story for you.
Hmmm... I really don't know what to say about this short story. It was interesting at first how you think you have everything figured out, but again it took a twist as many books do. It was good for the "Horror/Gore" aspect, but I do wish it had been longer. Guess you can only expect so much out of a free kindle book on amazon.com
Pretty good short story. I enjoyed the horror.. Was looking forward to a little more "R" rating as it had promoted. I'd say it was more of a PG13 rating. The story was fun and had a nice twist.
If you like horror books, you'll enjoy this one. And since it's a short story, you'll finish it pretty quickly.
People do not melt from high heat they would simply burn and turn to ash but not melt like goo. Overall the story was your basic wrong turn into cannibal family. I found it all overly grusome and other parts completely devoid of detail and fluffy. With all the high ratings I felt confused at the hype.
More plot twists and turns than your average 'teens-remote-location-mutant-redneck-cannibals-always-runs-the-wrong-way' type of movies that we all have seen. And all that in one chapter. Stories like this could make completely enjoyable five minute movie-lets - whoops, there goes my million dollar business idea.
I liked this book. There was great gory action. But I didn't feel that the author answers my logical self. There were some inconsistencies, at least in my mind, to help the story be a little bit tighter. But over all I liked it.
My first story for this author and it was like oh my gosh....Everytime I thought I had it all figured out I found I was in for an even bigger surprise! Gory but funny at same time!
I love Carolyn McCray's short stories and this one did not disappoint! A roller coaster of chills, gore, and horror. This is not for the faint of heart! I loved it and would highly recommend it.
