Michelle lived most of her life by the beautiful Rockies with her husband and children. She grew up in the 80's and still has fondness for that era. She was a schoolteacher for many years, but always dreamed of writing.

I listened to this story on my kindle fire while I was driving as the kindle "voice" read the story to me, but it was still good. I remember those days when computers were "beasts" and chat rooms were a new invention. Oh, and the internet cost a fortune per minute to use. The screetching noise a modem made while the internet connected... well, that is all nostalgic for me. Yeah, the 80s were interesting and the author portrayed that well. I liked how the author introduced the heroine and how the ending left me wondering about her and the decent guy, Scott. I liked him quite a bit. Anyone who would protect a woman's honor and help her when she is super sick from having overimbibed is a great guy in my estimation. Plus, he was a sweetheart in other ways. On to read the next installment (or have it read to me) on my next long drive. Enjoyable short story.

An Entertaining Quick Read

After two years in Colorado and away from her family, Beth has finally gone on a few dates. The young teacher had been cheated on before, so she was cautious.

Jim seemed nice enough at first, but over time his behavior became peculiar. He got her a computer (this was in the 80's) for her birthday and set her up on a BBS, a board where locals gathered to chat online. The Keeper of the board began exchanging messages with her, and they seemed to hit it off. When they met in person, he was everything she had hoped he would be. Unfortunately, she still had to deal with Jim, who instead of taking a hint, began acting possessively.

This is more dry than the author's other writings, but the story is entertaining.

Wow

While I'm super glad that I read this amazing story I couldn't help but feel extremely saddened that it was so short. Maybe someday when I have the money I'll buy the rest but I thought this was going to be a full length book. As always reading a book by this author was awesome. She's very talented! Worth a read if you're looking for a quick story to pass some time.

Take a step back in time to the 80's! I was a teenager in the 80's and Michelle Stevens' references to 80's music and clothing style was a blast to my past!

The story finds Beth, a teacher, dating Jim, but Beth isn't sure if she wants to keep dating Jim. Jim gives Beth a computer for her birthday. Jim is a member of an online chat group, The Lighthouse, and he convinces Beth to join the group! Little does Beth know she is about to meet Scott, SysOp--The Keeper. After a humiliating situation, Beth begins to see Scott differently. Can Scott save Beth from Jim? Do you believe in love at first sight?

This is Michelle's first book and I thoroughly enjoyed her style of writing, she draws you in right from the start. This is the first book in the series and I can't wait to read the next book!

This was a really quick read but I really enjoyed it. It was so cute and I loved the mental flashbacks to the 80's... Teasing the hair...classic. The plot was good, the characters were great and the overall flow of the story was smooth. Love the fact that the main female character is a young teacher. However, Jim is a complete creep. He made my skin crawl. Which is perfect because I believe that was Michelle Steven's intention. Can't wait to read more from this author.

Phoenix Rising is a bittersweet story of a young woman just starting out in her life. Beth has a good job, a great best friend and a questionable "boyfriend". When she is introduced to computers and joins a BBS, she meets the SysOp and sparks fly. After a bad party and an even worse breakup, Beth has to deal with abusive stalking. Making some hard decisions, Beth gets her life back on track. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

It's amazing. An awesome romance story. This book touched my heart and soul with its sweetness, humor, vividness and those disturbing upside down moments in life. A beautiful song of life painted with many colors. After reading it I was with a big smile, a feeling of serenity and a little bit in love with the main male character! Michelle Stevens I LOVE your writting!! More please..!

I just felt like this book dragged on and on. The most exciting thing is a pushy boyfriend and even that didn't get too dramatic. The only reason I finished this is because I hate NOT finishing a book, but I probably won't read the rest of the series
