Well, it turns out a hero's lot is not glory or reward, but sacrifice.

The Lost Files:

The Search for Sam: 4/5 stars
The Last Days of Lorien: 3.5/5 stars
The Forgotten Ones: 4/5 stars

So this is a bind up containing 3 different novellas that tie in with the main series 'I am Number Four' and this one follows Adamus Sutekh for the majority of it. It was different for me to see a character that didn't have a big role in the series right up until the last 2 books of the series so it was good to learn more about Adamus and the little things that happened during the main series.

I don't really enjoy reading novellas for the most part because they don't really add much to the main story plot but i did learn some new things from this one that helped me understand more of how the mogadorians who are the main threat in the main series.

Adamus is a very interesting character and i always thought he would turn out to be evil and betray the group but this one really went in more depth of how much of a strained relationship he had with his family and how different he truly is from the rest of his people.

I'd say defiantly read the main series before reading this novella because it does spoil somethings from the main series so keep that in mind before picking this one up.

Some books are good because they are really well written, they contain complicated, sympathetic characters, or have themes that transcend time and culture. Then there are the books that are really good because they are kind of like crack.
Against all odds, the Lorien Legacies series has kept my attention. The books are quick to read, light on teenage angst, and heavier on action. The Lost Files, being short stories, work well on such construction. I gobbled this collection up in two nights.
Unlike the first collection, this one doesn't try to narrate from a female character's perspective, which really helps keep interest. The first and last "files" revive Adam's story line from the first collection. Initially, it wasn't clear if he was going to be introduced into the main series, but it seems that he will play at least a minor role. I wonder if that was originally planned by the author or if the fans really enjoyed the character.
The second story is Sandor's point-of-view of the last days of Lorien. At first I thought that this chapter would be a complete waste of time, but it did illuminate a few things, such as the cultural distinction between guarde and cepan, so it was ultimately worth reading.
All-in-all, nicely marketed piece of teaser to get fans in gear for the release of the 4th book.

The Search for Sam: 4.5/5.
Adam, oh Adam. Adam is easily one of my favourite characters after reading these novellas. And this one especially. Despite One being dead and all, the two of them are so good together and it makes for a very interesting reason for why Adam does everything he does, betraying his family and everything. And Malcolm and Adam, they're just so nice together. I really think the only reason I didn't give this novella 5 stars is because it was slightly slow to take off, because of Adam being so determined to stay hidden.

The Last Days of Lorien: 3.5/5.
The title of this one gave me high hopes, maybe that's why I felt slightly disappointed when I finished it. Sandor's POV was interesting, since he never appears in the novels and only through Nine's eyes in Nine's Legacy. And I was quite surprised to realise I didn't like him at all to begin with. I thought he was unnecessarily whiny, but he grew on me towards the end when he decided to take on the Cépan role. Also, Nine and Henri's real names! I thought the novella was kinda rushed and confusig, but it makes sense, since the events would probably feel rushed and confusing to someone thrown into it like Sandor.

The Forgotten Ones: 5/5.
More Adam = happy me. I loved how Adam developed between this novella and the previous one, as well as during the course of this one. His trip to save the Chimæra was really great, the hero's cause he kinda needs. And of course the ending I already knew, having read FoF, but I was still happy to read how he drives as fast as he can to Malcolm and the Garde's aid.

Collective rating: 4.3/5 stars.

Thank you Pittacus for finally justifying whatever has happened to Sam. I remember feeling bummed out because, why would the author forget about telling its readers what sort of shit happened to one of the main characters? Well, now I see why. It's cause he was thinking of writing another compilation of short stories about the series. Bravo. Although I really wanted more of the The Last Days of Lorien because it was really great, the whole book was a package.

But yeah, honestly, I think that there should be an entire book dedicated to the life on Lorien. It has potential!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to how the author plays this all out on the future books. Tiao!

(Adamus, hal 130)

IL FKFKFK COME BACK TO MEEE LORIEN (zonder het kastensysteem!!!)

Maar mijn echte vraag is niet beantwoord, what’s up with the queer scene @ lorien?!!!!

op naar de volgende????!!!!

I've been trying to read this for quite a while, but couldn't find the second story anywhere online. Luckily, my lovely boyfriend bought it and lent it to me.

Summary of the Story

The Search for Sam is the first story and is narrated once again by Adamus, the traitorous Mogadorian.

In The Last Days of Lorien, we get a glimpse of Lorien in its final days of existence, from the POV of Sandor, Nine's now deceased cepan.

In the third and final story, The Forgotten Ones, the POV shifts once again to Adamus, who wakes up among the wreckage of the New Mexico compound,

What I Thought

The Last Days of Lorien was really interesting, and I would love to see a whole book set on Lorien pre-destruction.

I was also really glad that the other two books were narrated by Adamus, because, although he is a Mogadorian, he is one of my favourite characters. And I have a theory:

All of the stories were funny and interesting, and everyone knows I love whenever the chimaeras are present in the story. I can't wait to see what

I guess I'll find out right now, because I'm off to read The Fall of Five!

I still maintain that these little novellas are even better than the original series!

This one picks right up after the cliffhanger involving Adam in the last book! And yes, Adam as an MC is just what we wanted!

His story continues on, showing some of his family history as he grapples with his conscience, and tries to decide what steps to take going forward.

The second story follows Nine's Sepan, before he becomes the Bond-esque gadget guy we know. I enjoyed his story too!

And then we catch back up with Adam, and his adventures with Rex! And Dust! And we end on another cliffy! I am just loving these books so much! They are just what i need right now!

Is it weird that I thought this collection of novellas was SO MUCH BETTER than the novels themselves? I loved every second of these. We got to see more of Adam (who has quickly become my favourite character), as well as life on Lorien before it was destroyed. These stories made me incredibly emotional. .
I am so excited to see how the events in two of these novellas play out into the main plot. These were really great reads.

What a great read!

Secret Histories (Loren Legacies: The Lost Files #4-6) is basically divided into three parts. The first and the third novella continues with Adam's story and follows his adventures and misadventures after escaping from his father and his fellow Mogadorians. The second novella is centered around Sandor, Nine's Cepan, and his life in Lorien before the attack of the Mogadorians.

In my review for the previous Lost Files book, I wrote "I really hope to see Adam again, maybe in the fourth book or the fifth."--and I am definitely pleased to see Adam return in the second installment of The Lost Files. I thought reading in Adam's POV was still very refreshing, with him being a "Mogadorian traitor". I loved how the first novella played out his connection/relationship with One, and also his friendship with Rex, a fellow Mogadorian soldier, in the third novella. I also really enjoyed the plot of the first novella, from his rescuing of Malcolm Goode to their search for Sam. Overall, what I loved about the two novellas was that both novellas were action-packed and fast-paced.

The second novella was also an enjoyable read. I loved how it was told in Sandor's POV- definitely a new and interesting perspective in the series. I loved the pacing of the story and how the story had built up to the inevitable attack of Mogadorians in Lorien.

Overall, what I really loved about the book was the two main characters in the 3 novellas; Adam and Sandor. Both characters were very strong and memorable. I really hope Adam actually appears in the fourth or fifth book in the actual series, and not just in The Lost Files. The entire book was a fast read, but nonetheless a very worthwhile one.

PS. The book also included Chapter One of The Fall of Five. And can I just say, I NEED THE FALL OF FIVE NOW. YES PLEASE. :))

This was a really important book for me. This collection is a wondrous one, and it's the collection that introduced Adamus Sutekh, also known as the (second) best character in the series.

I read this way back in the day when it first came out and I dived straight into it, not knowing what the stories were going to be about. Once I read the first one and I realised that it was from the perspective of Mogadorian children, I thought it was very interesting. I ended up enjoying this short quite a bit. But because of how it ended, I deduced that the story was a one-shot because I assumed that Adam was dead.

Accepting this as fact, I continued reading. I finished the second story. I flipped to the start of the third, and I kid you not, once I realised that the story was narrated by Adam, now knowing that he's NOT dead, I bursted into tears and I for some reason instinctively bit the book. That's how happy I was that he wasn't dead, and that I got to read more about Adam and his rebellious antics.

I remember this whole scene extremely vividly and fondly, and I just felt the need to record it down somewhere. These novellas are amazing, and in cases like Adam are sometimes better than the main series. I feel sorry for the people who didn't read them as they were being published alongside the main books.

I really loved this book, two of the three short stories complement the time period between "The Rise Of Nine" and "The Fall Of Five", these show us some of the mysteries that were missing during the main book (Sam's, his dad's and the Chimaeras' location) as well as continuing the story of Adam who is in my opinion one of the best characters in this series. These two short stories work so well because they show us exactly what we were missing from the main book but leave us hanging and expecting for the next one. In these two stories, I loved the character development of Adam, now he's an individual and is starting to make his own path instead of depending on One like the first time we met him.

The third (second if we talk about order) short story gives us some backstory about Lorien and Sandor (who is in my opinion the best Cepan we have seen so far) which is always good, it really surprised me to know that he wasn't really trained and wasn't Nine's Cepan at the beginning but I guess all happened for a reason and I'm really glad he came to like his assignment and do it so well. Sandor's character development is one of the biggest I have seen so far, just by comparing him in this short story and in "Nine's Legacy" we can see so many big changes.

I feel like these short stories are a must for anyone who is into this series because you get to see so many different things in them that you don't get in the main books, can't wait to get to continue reading this amazing series :)!

In book 1: I gave this book 4 stars.
I love the fact that it was in Adamus's perspective. Ivan was a loser, same with Kelly. I liked his mother but then she just left the lab and turned out to hate him. His father just meant well for Adam. He wanted him to do well but Adam turned out to be a traitor. A good traitor. I loved One. One and Adam were just meant to be. Adam was meant to stay alive and meant to help the Garde.
I loved the book but it was hardly about Sam, just the last to chapters were about him. I understood that it needed to be about Adam and how he got to Sam but it was hardly about Sam. That was one of the downers about this book.
I loved it though. A great Novella.

In book 2: I gave this book 3 stars.
It wasn't that great although it was good. At the start of the book I didn't understand why it was in Sandor's perspective but then I slowly understood why. It was very different because it was in a perspective we readers hardly get to know. To make the book better the author could of add the lessons at LDA. I felt very emotional for Teev for when she is dying. I also glad that Sandor was young Nine's Cepan and not Daxin but I understood it. If Daxin was Nine's Cepan it would've turned out to be something totally different. I liked the part where Sandor went on the ship and met all the other Cepan's and Garde as well. Something I wanted but hardly got from the book was that their was less speech and I hardly got to know the characters.
Overall it was a good book but it could have some improvements made.

In book 3: I gave this book 5 stars.
Oh my god it was epic! I love this one because of Adam is of course and his perspective and the atmosphere was nice. At the start of the book when I got to the Rex chapter I started to hate him although I knew that I liked him anyway. Before when I was reading the main series Rex had become part of it but because I read them ages ago I forgot all about and didn't know whether to hate him or love him but now I have finished the book I have come to love him even more.
One thing that could've been better was if he finds out he has telepathy and uses it to communicate with Dust. I'm also surprised that Rex never found out about his legacy One gave him and that the book it's self was so short around 14 chapters.
Dust is also one of the best characters and the chimera too. They were the main part of the book. I feel it should've ended when he gets the Chicago and John sees him in the elevator/hall way.
I hope some of the other books are in Adam's perspective, he's one of my favourite characters.

Altogether, the book was good and I can't wait to read the next ones.

(#4) The Search for Sam:

Adam's story continues here after he was shoved off a cliff by his adoptive brother Ivan. He is rescued by the volunteers in the nearby village. He assists is any way he can while he heals. One still shows up every day and keeps him company, but she feels that it's past due for them to leave and help find the other members of the Garde. Adam's plan is to go back home and confront his father the general and possibly trick him into helping him. Part of the plan is to try and recreate the process of when One's mind was originally mixed with his. One helps him as much as she can and in the end reveals the truth to her existence in his mind and the true goal was to pass her powers to him. During this task he finds Sam's dad Malcolm. Together they escape and discover that Sam is being held captive and they want to help him escape.

(#5) The Last Days of Lorien:

This story is told from the perspective of sandor, Nine's Cêpan. He was always a troublemaker growing up fooling with the Technologies of things that he so he could get away and sneak out of school. During one of these trips he gets caught and instead of being expelled he must choose taking an apprenticeship which he chooses to do engineering. He does everything he can to hate the school but learns to love the work. Sandor soon meets another Cêpan and meets one of the Garde children we now know as Nine from the other books. Because Sandor stole the transmitter from Nine's original Cêpan, he now takes his place on the ship during the evacuation of Lorien during the invasion.

(#6) The Forgotten Ones:

Adam slowly wakes up and sees the destruction his legacy caused to the Dulce Base. Next to him is an injured Mog, who he decides he can take prisoner and perhaps gain some information from to help the Garde. During their travels he learns the name of the Mog, Rex. He also makes a new friend out of an escaped Chimæra, whom he names Dust. The three travel across the U.S. with the decision to rescue the other Chimæra that Rex mentioned. Rex isn't really an ally, but he hasn't turned on him, yet. They make it to the Mog military base in New York at Plum Island, and begin their quest. Once the animals were recovered it was time for Adam to get moving and Rex would let him go, but he was going to stay to join back with the Mogs. During the escape the military group announce that they have located the Garde and move to attack. Adam tries to warn them but doesn't know if he was in time or not. (Next to find out what happened in The Fall of Five)

Content warning: This book has occasional, but strong, cursing, including f***, s***, and d**n. It also has some heavy violence like
Rating: 4.75 stars

These three stories give different perspectives of and/or background to the main series. The first and last are from Adam's perspective, following the previous Lost File, and the second from Sandor's. They are interesting, though somewhat predictable due to them happening during the timeframe of or preceding the main series. I will say, however, the main series should be read first.

There's a couple new characters in the first and last stories, but they mostly are from previous books. The second has many new characters as it is placed back on Lorien. The characters are intriguing, and they do grow.

It's great fun to see what Lorien exactly was like. You really see and understand the culture; it's quite different from ours.

All in all, it's a good book and series that I recommend to teenagers who enjoy science fiction.
