About the author

I love a book that makes me forget everything except what I'm reading. As a preteen, I devoured Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys' Mysteries. When I reached my teens, romance novels became my favorite genre. Many years later, I decided to try my hand at writing and I've been doing so with a passion ever since. I have released over twenty-five romance novels, including a contemporary western series titled "Romance on the Ranch." The initial story, "Dream Kisses," started out as a single novella, but turned into an ongoing saga when secondary characters cried out for their own stories. The series was completed with book 10 and its one of my proudest accomplishments. As for historical romance, I ventured into that genre with a four book series titled "Unconventional," and enjoyed it so much that I wrote another collection titled "Finding Home." After that I returned to contemporary romance with the unlikely setting of a trailer park in the Arizona Desert, and, believe it or not, romance abounds at Desert Princess Trailer and RV Park in the middle of nowhere. There are three books in the "Oasis" series. Of course, I couldn't overlook writing in the paranormal/fantasy genre and released "The Shapeling Trilogy" about shapeshifters. In that series, my shifters travel the world, solve mysteries, and fall in love.

Using the pen name of Colleen Clay, I published a YA novel titled, "Fragile Hearts."

Now that I've been writing for so many years, I can't imagine doing anything else.

I think this installment suffered from being too short. It didn't capture my attention in the same way as Luke and Angel's love story - which to me was epic. Jenny got on my nerves truth be told. There is one more installment which jumps ahead a number of years. I'll be sorry to see this series end. Soothing in troubled times.

Because I was so enchanted by the first two stories in this series, I bought the remaining two stories that seem to only be available on Kindle. This is another unique adventure with the Samson clan. Jenny Samson is a talented artist who travels from Texas to New York City to take instruction at Jake Ryder's renowned art school.

After wanting to meet the elusive great artist Ryder, Jenny is shocked when she receives a tongue-lashing from him. Trying to bring Ryder out of his (self-imposed) shell, he attacks her art. Thus begins a difficult three years for the couple. She returns to Texas, he travels the world.

As a reader, I admire the whole Samson family; they are the type of people someone would love to have for friends. They are open and caring and have great compassion for the human condition. Jenny is deeply wounded by Ryder and he has to move far out of his comfort zone to prove he would be a fitting life companion for Jenny. Delightful reading.

The author Verna Clay has a new follower and that’s me I have totally enjoyed her books characters well written fantastic believable story line, a believable passionate love making (and enjoyable)..I await reading more of her work

Sweet, sweet story with so much heartache and bitterness to overcome. Great conclusion to this series all set in 19th century Texas. The series starts with Abby I rated 4.25, Followed by Broken Angel a solid 4.0 and finally this conclusion Ryder's Salvation another 4.0. Quick, quick reads.... I think only a total of 400-500 pages to complete all three novels. I highly recommend this series, it has every emotion: laughter, tears, heartache and peace.

This is my least favourite from the series. I didn’t feel a huge connection between the mc’s. It was still an engaging story and was happy to have more content about the family.

Third of three (there were only three at the time I read these) that I read in marathon stretch. Although I have only given each 3 stars for "I liked it", I clearly liked each one enough to keep reading the series one right after the other. Light, easy, *in my weird classification system*, simply satisfying stories with interesting heroine, likeable and interesting heroes, and the requisite happy ever after ending that any decent little romance novel should have.
