The modern nail polish bottle with a brush attached to the cap was patented in 1934 by Joseph Menke, an inventor associated with the Northam Warren Corporation, the company behind Cutex. While nail polish itself had existed for centuries, Menke's innovation made application much more convenient by integrating the brush into the cap, a design that remains the standard today.
