I received a recommendation via Goodreads about this book. I purchased the book on Thanksgiving but did not read it until I went on vacation last week. I actually finished it on the flight between LAX and DFW. I was upset that I allowed myself to sleep on this book. I will no longer underestimate the powers of Ms. Black to weave a masterful story that will totally draw you in. When flying, I tend to quickly lose interest and begin to rethink my whole trip because of my impatience. With this book, I did not realize that I had made it through the flight until I saw DFW out of my window.
This is a story of unconditional love between siblings and the redemptive power of love and forgiveness. A positive story with strong African Americans characters who realize the importance of a relationship with God without the typical "preachy shove it down your throat" technique that some author use. I love the fact that this is a stand alone book in which all lose ends are tied up and in fact you receive a glimpse into the future after the dust has settled.
And to top it off.... Ms. Black provided a sample of Now You Want To Come Back 3 which was totally unexpected.
Julia and Juliana are the split images of one another but by far their lives and actions never mirrored each other's. Far from the religious upbringing of the South, Juliana has a budding career as a superstar. But all that glitters isn't gold as she tries to have her cake and eat it too. In the world of the rich and famous, secrets must be kept and Julia's life..as well as her family's are on the line as she is threatened into keeping hidden secrets.
I enjoyed the story because I haven't really seen a plot like this before involving twins. It was very original though quite far-fetched. It was emotionally compelling but I think there was too much of that and not enough suspense.I understand why it was needed but I kept waiting for something to pull the story in a new direction but it didn't happen. There needed to be some unpredictable twist and turns to spice up the plot. Nevertheless, it was a good read.
Anna Black did it again... As always her books are awesome...I will like start off positive by saying... Loved the makeup of the story.. It was different...the story kept me turning the page... I was a little disappointed that Juliana was gone shortly after her sister arrived.. I was hoping to get more time reading about her n her sisters relationship... I was also hoping that she would somehow appear at the end...however, I was glad Julia found a soulmate...her relationship flowed beautifully...even down to dealing with her stepson...I thought it would've also been great to see miles wife act a little crazy... But the story had a nice positive message that I think everyone of Anna Black's Fans will enjoy!
This was a refreshing read from Anna Black. The storyline was original, and kept me flipping the pages until I got to the very last one. The action that took place at the beginning of the book with Julianna really set the tone for the book and was actually quite shocking. Julia was a bit depressing at times with all her crying, but the relationship that she formed with Miles and his son Trey was very genuine and was the positive note of the book. She was the type of character that you couldn't help but to love. The lengths that she went to in order to keep her family safe were remarkable. Overall this was a good read that I would definitely recommend.
The storyline was original, and kept me flipping the pages until I got to the very last one. The action that took place at the beginning of the book with Julianna really set the tone for the book and was actually quite shocking. I would definitely say this is a to read book. I love the characters and the flow of the book. The twins were like night and day. Like me and identical twins sister. The unconditional love they have for each other and the rest of the family I can relate too. Nothing can come between me and my twin. Must read book. I will definitely read more of this author.
Great plot and story. It kept me on edge of my seat in anticipation of what is going to happen next. It definitely takes a great person, like Julia to find happiness out of the sorrow that she experienced.
It's a must read. Anna Black did a fabulous job with this story and would love to see a part 2 sometime.
This was a really good read. It is a heart warming story. After all I am a daddy little girl. Family is so important and this book will keep you page turning until the end. Way to go!,,,
I really enjoyed this book. I have been reading a lot of Anna Black books, lately. I like this one a lot. I cried and got upset. All kinds of emotions. Great read!
This was a page turner, I was hooked from the very beginning. Juliana had it all, she's a singer with a wonderful spouse. To bad she treated everyone badly because she was hurting inside. That's not all, she was messing with Reg and that affair turned from bad to worse. Her twin sister Julia flew down but she was in for a rude awakening on her first day there. Things to a turn for the worse, as someone pops up dead, and Julia gets threatened to live out a life she rarely knew unless more people would end up dead. Even though this book had a lot of blackmailing I love the relationship Miles and Julia had, as well as the different lengths she went through for everyone. The ending made me smile knowing her difficult father who's a pastor finally came around to see things his daughters way. This was a great read, ill recommend to everyone.
I'm giving this book like 3.5 stars. I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway back in November and I'm finally just getting around to reading it. It was a good book but not like an amazing best book ever. In the beginning I was getting really confused because our two main characters names are so similar I couldn't keep track of which one was which. But the rest of it was a pretty decent story. I just started to get bored towards the end because I was just ready for it to be over, but then the ending was amazing. I'm so torn with this book, but I would recommend this to anyone who likes Lifetime movies because I can totally picture it being a movie on that channel.
The characters Julia and Juliana were the splitting image of each other physically but personality and the way they lived their lives were totally different . But despite their differences they both love each other and their family unconditionally.
Reg was horrible from page one and i am so glad that he got what he deserve at the end of the story. He was low down and did whatever he had to do to cover the mistakes that he made throughout the story.
Miles Character I was in love with when the story began. I was hoping and praying for a happy ending for him and his son Trey.
In conclusion, Somethings are not what they seem and love will lead you back home and to your family.
Wow. I loved it. Ms Black has an excellent flair for writing, I have not read one book of hers and not enjoyed it. Split Image has it all, mystery, romance, erotica and more. I would highly recommend it.
I appreciate the fact the plot and story line was original I couldn't put this one down and I definitely plan on reading more books from Miss Anne Black
