Cara Jones loves her job as a Hollywood make-up artist and the opportunity for excitement and travel it provides. While on set for a movie about Rupert the Brave and Wallace the Traitor, an ancient necklace send her back in time to Medieval Scotland and England to see first-hand how events actually unfolded.
She quickly finds that, as per usual, Hollywood got it wrong. Before returning home she wants to correct the injustice done to Sir Wallace, help him recover his good name and home, and try not to fall in love with the big jerk in the meantime. But no reason a girl can’t have a bit of fun in the process, right?
...meets a dark and stormy knight...
Sir Wallace of Wolfsbane wants Rupert of Dinsdale dead, dead, dead. His demise in front of King and Castle will avenge Wallace’s father’s death, regain Wallace’s properties, and clear his family name. Everything is working according to his well-laid plans when the lovely Lady Cara appears out of nowhere, forcing Wallace to save her life over killing Dinsdale.
As Wallace attempts to regain the King’s trust, save Cara from harm, and prevent her from charming everyone in his keep, he realizes that, while his plans for Dinsdale should take precedence, laying siege to Cara’s heart might well be a goal worth fighting for.
Diane Darcy loves to read and write lighthearted and funny books. She’s a member of the Heart of the West, and RWA. She was a finalist for Romance Writers of America's Golden Heart® Award. She’s written romantic comedies in several different genres; some historical, some contemporary, all lighthearted and fun. She makes her home in Utah with her family and dogs, and is hard at work on her next book.
I really loved the first two books in this series and was SO excited to see this third one finally become available. It was fun returning to this fun world Ms. Darcy has created, and I really look forward to the next books in the series.
While I did enjoy this one, I liked the first two books in the series a bit more. Cara is likable, the kind of person that is outgoing and friendly to everyone they meet. The complete opposite of Wallace, who is grumpy and quick to fight. I did really enjoy the times when Cara and Wallace are together and how she just softens him right up. They're cute together and it was fun seeing their story unfold.
Overall, I thought this was a fun read. I liked that while its part of a series, it stands well on its own. I also like that we're beginning to learn more about why these women are being brought back in time to find their true love. I look forward to reading the rest of this series and hope they get published soon!
Content: PG13 for mild medieval violence Romance: Clean, just kissing Language: None Violence: Moderate- death (beheading), fighting, attempted rape. Nothing graphic.
4.5 stars-This is my favorite of the series so far. I absolutely loved it.
Wallace and Cara had such a beautiful connection. Their chemistry was swoon worthy. I love how protective he was of her and how she clung to him like her lifeline. Wallace was rough and a bit brutish but I loved watching him soften toward Cara as she slowly broke down his walls.
It was so nice to see Gillian and Kellen again. It was nice to see her and Cara become fast friends and their interactions weren’t rushed like the second novel. It had a nice pace and everything was explained nicely. Although I do enjoy Gillian’s appearances I don’t like how she at times, takes Kellen for granted. She always has to have it her way. He always concedes and it just emasculates him.
Overall I loved the book. Cara and Wallace’s story was spectacular. Filled with action, suspense and a lot of swoon worthy moments. Highly recommend reading this one. I am excited to read the next book. December can’t come fast enough.
I have been waiting to read this book from a long time but sadly I just didnt like it. Read around 100 pages and the characters were just not likable. This is going to be a DNF for me, unless I decide to read it some time in future. It would be unfair to rate it as I didnt read much of the book and I dont want to give it a low rating
I’ve soo been looking forward for this book to come out and it was just as entertaining as I’d hoped! Cara is a Hollywood makeup artist on set in Scotland when suddenly she finds herself right in the middle of a medieval joust. She barely escapes getting trampled by a horse and finds herself then getting taken away by a large, very handsome, scary looking, knight. Wallace was about to get his revenge and his lands back when he won this joust but suddenly a beautiful woman appears right before him. He thinks his enemy pushed her there to try and thwart him from winning. He’s upset and requested the King that he may take her to his home for questioning. Cara is bubbly and extroverted, and at first doesn’t realize she has time traveled. She thinks she’s surrounded by actors and this handsome Wallace guy really takes to play acting. However, after some turn of events, she is torn between wanting to help Wallace and wanting to return back home to her parents and 21st century life. The whole story was great. Cara was so likable and Wallace grows on you right away. Gillian and Kellen from the first book “She Owns the Knight” were in the book quite a lot which added another element of fun. Since this takes place in medieval times, there is a beheading but it’s a short scene of Cara being rescued from some bad guys. Other than that, the book is very mild. The ending was perfect and also opens the door for the next story that comes out in December. I can’t wait!!!
I didn't care for this book as much as the first two. That being said it wasn't bad, it just wasn't great either. For a while the lead character acts incredibly immature, even screaming at one point for no particular reason other than she was frustrated. It seemed a bit extreme. I also was not feeling the love between her and Wallace for quite a bit of the book. Obviously they were attracted to each other, but beyond that it didn't seem like either one of them liked each other enough to develop it into something else. Wallace's mom wasn't very consistent as a character either. For some reason she seems to take an instant dislike to Cara, but then later appears to love her. And it doesn't seem like there was a whole lot in between that would have made her change her mind. It also isn't made clear why she was sent to the future very briefly, and why she seems so unwilling to believe Cara's story if she had also been to the future herself. It also seemed kind of strange that Cara kept wondering how she could leave her career, her friends, and her parents, and yet at the end all she cared about was her parents. What happened to her caring about her career and all the friends she left behind? On another note, the author really needs to get a better editor. There are so many grammatical and punctuation errors in the book that it kind of takes some of the enjoyment away from reading. Commas are way overused, sentences don't always flow, and sometimes words are just wrong altogether. There were a couple instances where "is" was used instead of "his" and "and" was used instead of "an". In another instance Sir Gladwin was called Sir Goodwin for a few paragraphs and then it was switched over to Sir Gladwin again. Not a huge deal when done once in a while, but it was frequent in the book. It also happened in the first two books, but it seemed excessive in this book. I can't decide if I'm going to read the next book or not. Part of me wants to, to see where the series goes, but if the next book is as mediocre as this one, I don't want to waste my time.
This is my first Diane Darcy time traveler read. I was wary of the whole premise, but I believe that it works well! I liked that the heroine isn't instantly aware of her circumstances after touching the healing stone. It takes her a while to figure out that she is no longer in the modern world. The struggle between her head and heart is realistic. I appreciated the resolution, but I wonder why we don't learn more about Rupert's story.
As Cara couldn’t get the necklace off and cut herself she went into the past. From the 21st. Century to the 13th. This totally changed her life. She fell in love with a knight but missed her parents. Saint Cuthbert a priest has done a few century related love affairs and has some more to go. I love this author Diane Darcy and can hardly wait to read the other books.
I enjoy time travel and this didn't disappoint. Cara's 21st century chatter and the confusion she caused were delightful. Wallace was a worthy Knight and quite strong as well as tender towards the frustrating lady in his charge. The history and adventure were also worth the read.
Its been years since the last book and I was so surprised that there’s a book 3!! I love this series. I love Cara and Wallace although book 1 and 2 are still my fave. Cara is very funny and there’s lots of LOL moments there. Wallace is so sweet. Really happy that we got to see the Marshals. I can’t wait for Rupert’s book.
back to 21st century or stay with her love in the 17th century
The necklace and a magic stone brought her to the 17th century and she nearly lost her life. The King gave her to lord Wolfsbane as she ruined his joust and revenge against lord Dinsdale. Now she must figure out what to in order to get back to her own time.
Loved this story just as much as the last 2. Cannot wait to find out what trouble Rupert has found himself in. Not sure if that is the December release or not, but that is so far away.
This one did not disappoint, like the others. Only the writing is even better and the plot really surprised me! I love this series and am completely addicted to Diane Darcy 's tales! On to the next!
This story was so much fun! Cara has a quick whit and intelligence in problem solving. Gotta love Wallace. There were many likable characters and I’m looking forward to the next story.
