Bewitching the Knight

In Medieval Scotland if she dresses, talks and curses like a witch....

Archaeologist Dr. Samantha Ryan does not want or need the public relations firm her boss hired to give her advice on how to speak, act, or charm. She’s busy. She’s just found out where the Scottish Crown of the MacGregor’s is hidden and needs to beat her lying, cheating competitor, Jerry, to the Scottish highlands and claim it for her University! After finding it, and her nemesis, a struggle ensues and they travel back in time to medieval Scotland where Jerry calls her a very ugly name. Unfortunately the villagers think he said “witch”, tie her up, and start gathering wood for a bonfire. Thinking to play on their superstitions so she can save herself, she curses them all. Not her best idea yet. Perhaps she should have listened to that P.R. firm after all?

...it’s time to gather firewood!

Laird MacGregor is a dead man walking. It’s only a matter of time before one of the many attempts on his life will succeed. When Ian is informed that the villagers are burning another witch, he is determined to save the hapless female. Unfortunately the stupid woman doesn’t know when to keep her mouth shut. Laird MacGregor rescues her anyway, ensuring any headway he’d made toward earning the villagers trust is shattered. Locking her up only makes his people fear the witch in possession of his tower.  A witch determined to teach him to win friends and influence people. While trying to find out who is trying to murder him, keep the crown entrusted to him by his father safe, and control a rowdy woman who may indeed be gifted with foresight, Ian decides he more than willing to give her the firstborn she’d initially demanded. As long as she marries him first.

Past and present are about to ignite.

When modern meets medieval, can there be a happily ever after?

I thought this was a wonderful book, story great characters fantastic. Didn't have to rely on sex scenes in every chapter as a lot of books do so the story was so well written and the romance so strong between Samantha and Ian. Well done Diane for the second book in this series. Can't wait for a third one!!

I've been waiting for this one for a while now and couldn't wait to get started when I saw it had finally been released. I loved the first book, She Owns the Knight and couldn't wait to go back to this setting.

We meet Ian MacGregor in the first book and I was excited to see his story and see what kind of woman would win him over. Samantha Ryan is a modern-day Indiana Jones. She has been traveling the world working as an archeologist practically her whole life. She loves history and over the past couple years became interested in one Ian MacGregor, she's studied his life and knows all there is about him. She couldn't be more pleased when she is transported back in time and able to meet him in person.

I thought this was a fun read, I loved Samantha and Ian and thought they were really cute together. The overall story was fun, there is a bit of a mystery, someone is trying to kill Ian and he's trying to figure out who. We're also briefly reunited with Gillian and Kellen from the first book, it was SO fun seeing them again and I loved how they were worked into the story.

Overall, a really fun read. I liked the mix of the modern with the medieval. Can't wait for more!

Ahhhhhhhhhh Diane Darcy did it again!!!!!

This woman can do no wrong when she writes time-travel Romances in the medieval ages! And the best thing about it is that they're clean and just about the best stories...ever.

This time we get a Scottish Knight! Go buy it!

So this is actually a follow up of She owns the Knight but never fear! It can be read as a standalone! But trust me when you read she owns the knight and then see those characters in here you'll be squealing!

Love it! serious.

Samantha Ryan is an archaeologist, she dreams of the next big find of the century to be hers.
So when she finally thinks she knows the location of 'The crown of Scotland' no one can stand in her way, she will retrieve that crown.
However, she is running out of time, One of her devious colleagues stole her research and seeks to pass off the find as his own.
One the night she digs up the crown and blood falls on it, she is transported out of time...a time 750 years past.
Who knew that her Red Hair would get her to be nearly burnt at the stake as a witch due to her 'sinful hair'
And who knew that the object of her Historical obsession- Laird Ian MacGregor would be the one to save her.
Always the object of affection when he was a simple historical figure, but now that he's in the flesh, what will stop her from falling in love?
Easy- Poison.
Someone is trying to kill Ian and Samantha decides that she will dare change history if she has to.

Ahhhhhhh! I loved it.

Samantha's character made me laugh so much, its unreal. I LOVE her character, she's a girl after mine own heart! haha maybe...it's because we share the same kind of dorky-historical humour. The Richard III joke? I laughed a good 5 minutes and still chuckle when I think about it.

If you love history and a CLEAN romance, this is your heaven!

Stay Awesome!

It's finally up on Amazon. Yay!!!

When I read She Owns the Knight, Diane Darcy already had the description for Bewitching the Knight posted on her website. I feel like I've been highly anticipating this story forever! Now that it's been released, I was not disappointed.
Samantha is a female Indiana Jones, professor by day (or semester), and archeology is her true passion. She's been going on digs with her grandfather since she was nine, and loves the excitement. After much research, Samantha thinks she knows where to find the missing Crown of Scotland. On the eve of her trip, she catches a co-worker going through her notes, and planning to steal credit for her discovery. The race is on to see who can find the crown first, only when they do find the crown, they also find themselves transported to 15th century Scotland. The locals mistake Samantha for a witch and she is nearly burned at the stake before Laird Ian MacGreager comes to her rescue. Now all Samantha wants to do is convince everyone that she's not a witch, and get back home. The only problem is that Ian now has the crown. He's good looking, infuriating, and just might be the man of Samantha's dreams. He's also supposed to die an untimely death, but history didn't tell Samantha how or exactly when. Can she rewrite history and still make it home?
I loved the story. I loved the superstitious Scots, and their Laird who felt like he didn't belong, but would still stand up for what was right. The romance between Ian and Samantha was sweet. I love the idea that she could finally meet the man she'd been obsessed with in her research. I also loved how the story tied in with She Owns the Knight, and that we got to see Gillian and Kellen again. It was funny seeing them both from another character's perspective.
If you enjoy time travel stories, or romantic comedies, I definitely recommend this!

After the first one in the series, I'm not sure why I read this one. Maybe I just really like Scots/Sassenach time-travel romance à la Diana Gabaldon, or maybe I like mental anguish.
The time-traveling heroines in both novels were over-the-top modern in speech, and cloying. I mostly wanted to slap them- forcefully and repeatedly. The heroine's male colleague was a weak, crying, blubberhead. Basically, all of the characters seemed like severe caricatures of stereotypes and not at all realistic or endearing.
Both story-lines were completely predictable from the get-go and the resolutions were all a little too perfect and swift for plausibility.
A hollow attempt, aimed at silly henwits, insulting to the intelligence and dignity of women everywhere.

Ok , that was my first attempt at reading a "time travel" book, and......... just not for me . The heroine went from being scholarly to being almost ridiculous. It's time for a mystery instead! Needless to say I did not finish this book .

Bravo!

BEWITCHING THE KNIGHT is a marvelous blend of past and present, humor and angst, hope and superstition.

Archaeologist Samantha Ryan, PhD, finds herself in 1260 Scotland...with unnaturally dyed red hair and a welcoming party of medieval villagers determined to burn her at the stake as a witch. After all, anyone with *that* hair color and appears out of thin air *must* be a witch.

Laird Ian MacGregor has enough problems on his hands: he doesn't know who to trust, someone (or several someones) are trying to kill him, he has a clan of family members to win over, and now a supposed witch has his clan stirred into a frenzy. He doesn't believe in witches, and he definitely doesn't believe in burning women at the stake.

Samantha and Ian couldn't be a better match. Their strengths complement one another...as do their weaknesses. The characters endeared themselves to me from the very beginning and I thoroughly enjoyed watching them fall in love against their own better judgment. After all, Samantha can't stay in medieval Scotland and Ian has too many responsibilities there to leave. The culmination of the tale ties up all the story elements nicely, and delivers a very rewarding ending. Highly recommended!

Every bit as delightful as book #1 (SHE OWNS THE KNIGHT). Kudos to Ms. Darcy!

Such a fun story! Set in modern day NYC and 700 years ago in Scotland, I enjoyed this tale of time travel, archeology and love.

Samantha was a great heroine; strong, smart and independent. She's studied Ian McGregor for years, and when she's accidentally transported back in time and meets him - fangirl! With her flaming red hair, the locals think she's a witch, add in someone trying to murder Ian and then, of course, the two of them are falling in love along the way. Just enough romance to be swoon-worthy, while still keeping it clean.

Super Cute! If you haven't read She Owns the Knight, I'd recommend that first, as the MC's from that make an appearance here. But this can stand on it's own.

Okay let's just say, I'm not a time travel reader or that kind of thing. However, this is the third I have read. The others I read I had no idea they were such. This one I knew and I loved it. It was authentic, it was real, it put me right there. Well written, interesting and such a sweet story I'm reading the other. Although I think She owns the knight might have been the first. I don't think it matters.

This was so cute! I just adore Diane Darcy. She writes such sweet, fun books which is what I like. :). Life has too much darkness, why on earth would I invite it into my world by the things I read?

I fell in love with the two main characters and enjoy so many parts of this book. It's a book I think that might float around my head occasionally.

Recommend it!

I had such high hopes for this one after reading the first book “She owns the knight” but sad to say, I didn’t like it as much. For starters, I thought that it dragged excruciatingly at times.

I was anticipating a meeting between Samantha and Gillian (from the first novel). However, it just seemed rushed.

Also I personally did not think the loose ends were tied up satisfactorily. The author tried to but I thought it sad that Ian’s family and friends (mainly Breken, Quinn and Dugald) would not have found out exactly what happened to him. Plus, Samantha and Jerry, disappearing would have left some unanswered questions. Especially Mad Malcolm who was Lord of his own keep.

Samantha was intelligent, funny and resourceful. Ian was charming, and quite cunning. They were loveable characters. I did enjoy certain parts of the story. It was overall a nice tale but the slow pace, plot holes and not to mention the plethora of gramatical errors, prevented me from enjoying it fully.

Could not put down

This is probably my new favorite author. I had read all her books in the Culldon Moore series and loved them, but book 1 of this series I loved and book2 (this one) even more so. I love her details and characters. My only sadness was the lady. As a dog lover, although the ending was perfect, I really was hoping that she also got a happy ending. I highly recommend this trilogy. I haven't even started the 3rd book yet and already know I will send the weekend reading it.

A great read

I have just completed the second novel in the “Knights Tale” series. I have read the first 2 back to back. They are a fine and enjoyable read. The characters have a great time telling their story and the second on broke the standard “ boy meets girl falls in love and everything is fine from then on”. It is so good to see a different ending. Now u have to read it to find out. Not a long read but a good one.

Sweet, romantic ( not at all erotic, but alas, medieval times did not lend themselves to it apparently, since no hanky panky before marriage), and an overall cute story. It does go a bit weird towards the end but the beginning is bewitching, well written and entertaining. Not coming back to read it again for its smut, for sure, but whenever I'm in the mood for a romantic Scottish tale this is the book to come back to.

Bewitching the Knight book 2

As Samantha was caught on the crown and cut her finger she went back over 700 years. Some wanted to burn her as a witch but Laird Ian saved her. He didn’t believe in witches yet she bewitched him. She always knew of him as it was his crown she dug up. Of course many people wanted the crown and Ian was shot with an arrow . Samantha took the crown cut herself and with his blood also they went to the future to save him with future medicine.

Well written with just enough action, intrigue and romance to keep one interested. The addition of a bit of gumour rounds it out nicely. My only concern plaint is the same one I have with most time travel stories which take the traveler to medieval times. The author simply ignores the fact that there would be a major language barrier. Scots in that time certainly did not speak modern English.

Great

This is just as good as the first one. This is about Samantha and Jerry, two competing colleagues fighting over a crown lost for centuries, when during their struggle triggers something that thrusts them into the past. Just in time for her to be judged a witch and him to be captured by a madman. Now the story begins.

Loved this book

I really like this book. I like the catalyst for traveling through time. I like the characters. They are believable and seem like people you could know, only now. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves time travel romance. I also like the way this book in the series goes in with the first book. Magnificent!

Time travel isn’t for the weak as Samantha finds out.

This was an amazing time travel story. When Samantha, an archeologist, travels to Scotland to search for the crown of Scotland, little does she know she will be sent seven hundred years back in time. After being accused of being a witch, she is saved by the Laird. Her life will never be the same.

Another Enchanting tale

Or should I say bewitching tale? Samantha and Ian's story is filled with adventure, excitement, intrigue, and suspense. A fun read with stake burning, sword action, and lots of kissing. You will also meet Gillian and Marshall again.

Better than the first

Though there were still parts that bothered me, like the complete lack of even a remote attempt to fit in with medieval times, I did like the overall story better than the first book.

What fun traveling with an archaeologist back to medieval Scotland. The book was full of romance, history, a little bit of laughter and a murderer mystery. I find all of this series a great way to escape to a time long ago.
