Rate this book
Brutally Honest & Ridiculously Funny...Table Talk: Memoirs of a Bikini Waxer is a hilarious collection of stories, opinions, rantings and ravings that will leave you laughing your hairless ass OFF! Each chapter represents a different hat worn by Caren on any given day as a hair removal specialist. The Bikini Waxer -- The Love Doctor -- The Bearded Lady -- The Belle of the Balls- no subject is off limits. Not only funny but sincere and uplifting, this book will leave any female reader with a sense of womanly pride and dynamism. "As a woman who knows women, I have found that no issue is too big or too small to discuss. We are passionate conversationalists regardless of the subject matter. Whatever the issue may be from finding a new wrinkle or a gray hair to buying a new outfit, dating a jerk, getting a divorce or not knowing what color to paint the damn powder room, it's all important to us - at least for the time it's on the table. Some women look to me for answers. I can only tell them what I would do in certain situations but it's important to tread lightly with some subjects. After all, despite what some may think, I don't have all the answers. Who on this planet does?" ~ Caren A. Stein

I almost couldn't give this book a 4 because of the language but it was too stinkin' hilarious not to!

I accepted this book for review knowing that the subject matter might make it a bit taboo but it looked like it would be a very fun book to read. And it was!

I laughted out loud and I have to say I was educated.

This book is not for the faint of heart or the overly prudish.

Strong language and delicate subject are discussed. lol

I NEVER write book reviews here. Well, previously never. This book was so funny I annoyed my DH with all the nodding and hysterical giggling. And then, when I tried to read him a particularly hilarious paragraph, I couldn't even get through a sentence without guffawing. And crying with laughter - yep, did that too. Highly annoying bedmate. Highly entertaining book. I give it five stars and a box of kleenex.

Stein

Caren A. Stein, a graduate of the Bucks County School of Beauty Culture has been a licensed/certified hair removal specialist since 1993. She has waxed and zapped countless humans and to date has never been beaten up in a parking lot by a client. She lives and works in Newton, Pennsylvania.

If I could make every woman read this, I would. This book is so funny, and so down to earth that I have already started recommending it to family and friends, even when I was only through Chapter 3. Once I received this book, I could not put it down. I never thought of wanting to read about someone who gets rid of hair, and never have I been on the table to have hair removed, but I would read this book again in a heartbeat. Caren is so honest. She is one of those women that would just tell you what she thinks without second-guessing her decision.
However, with it being funny, it really does not discuss a lot about what goes on while being waxed. She talks about everyday life, and gives her personal advice on life. She opens up topics that ladies talk about at a beauty salon, or waxing table. I am sure we could all use some pointers about life, right? If you want a good read, I would suggest this book! Men, if you are looking for a book your woman would enjoy, get this one!

Table Talk: Memoirs of a Bikini Waxer by Caren A. Stein is a treasure for humor lovers. Every page filled up with wit to punch you in the face or in the crotch, making a perfect delight for your funny bone(r).
After taking this book in my hand, the first thing that came into my mind was the character of Marcy Runkle from Californication. And it came out better than my expectation. Author is a professional hair remover. She takes the reader inside the beauty salon and reveals all the secrets of her clients along with her hilarious insights, exploring the amusing, naïve and fanatical nature of women. She wears different ‘Hats’ making different chapters of the book, exploring daily problems of women in a unique way of course. Even being hilarious, the book never sabotage women but asks very straight questions, answer brutal truths and provide a positive outlook; all confirming the clout of superior sex. As depicted from the cover, this book includes crude humor which is not recommended for faint hearted.
Do not doubt the author for feminism; this book is an enjoyable read for both the sexes. Though I would recommend this book to all the women only, as those men who knows a little of the term metrosexual might feel lost.

My first thought when I got this book was, “So why did I want to read about waxing again?”, that did not last very long at all. This is a very fun and enjoyable read that had me laughing out loud several times. Caren A. Stein has written a sassy, smart little romp about how she lives her life and what she does. There were some stories of things that she has put up with as a waxer that made my jaw absolutely drop. The way she handled them was professional and yet also a bit laughable. It did not take me long to read the book as it is a short and fast paced read but it is put together very well. There is some coarse language so if that is something you are okay with it will not be a bother to you. The formatting of the book makes it easy to read and the chapter titles are pretty funny as well.

I am a person who enjoys a little look into other peoples lives and Caren A. Stein gives us a fun look into hers. I can not say this book made me ever want to go and get a bikini wax, I suspect I might end up being a whiner which Ms. Stein lets us know is not very well liked by those in the field. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a good laugh and a nice fun easy read. It is a good book if you ask me.

This book was given to me for the purpose of a review. I looked at the title and was a little skeptical of its contents. But all of that disappeared as I began to read. This book was hella funny!

A certified electrologist and esthetician Caren is an expert in waxing from the rooter to the tooter, removing unwanted and unsightly hair; (I guess that’s a little different from Sue Ling that removed my little mustache for my wedding).

Stories from the inner most crevices, bring laugh out loud moments. You’ll find yourself so caught up in these stories; you won’t be able to put the book down!

The author has a way of telling a story from both sides of the table, client and professional. The experiences shared are definitely a nice and refreshing change

If you’re looking for a quick and funny read, pick it up, you won’t be disappointed!

How can you resist a book with a title like "Table Talk: Memoirs of a Bikini Waxer"? This book lives up to the promise of its eye-raising title. I found this book nakedly honest and absolutely hilarious. Caren A. Stein's body of expertise goes beyond that of bikini waxing to the important topics of feminine hygiene, menopause, dating rules and the superiority of the female race, to name a few. Caren A. Stein is not only very funny, she is also a woman of infinite wisdom. Not only would I highly recommend her for a good bikini wax, but also for her candid and brave advice on men, aging gracefully and popping pimples. In her book, Caren writes about her regret of not chasing her dreams of being a comedienne. Congratulations, Caren, on attaining your dream with this hysterically honest, candid and sweet book.

this book is not only making me laugh - it's making me snort! Definitely not a book guys would 'get' :)!

Loved it! I've had a hard time fitting in reading for 'fun' lately and so I took advantage of a 2 hour plane flight to finish this very funny and insightful book.

Caren is brave enough to say what we as women think, but can't quite say out loud.

A fun read (even the chapter I'd rather not admit I could relate to)

Women, celebrate who you are!

With the exception of the chapter on pimple popping, the author expressed some of the most mundane daily tasks with such hilarity that it was easy to forget how boring these activities are. A easy and wonderful read!

I thought it was hilarious--I read it in a matter of hours and only wish that it had been longer. I was traveling in Asia at the time and my travel companion couldn't help but notice that I was giggling uncontrollably while reading this book. Definately a good, light "girl" read!

I’ll come right out and say it. I have never had a bikini wax. No one I know has ever had one, as far as I know. So, naturally, I was curious. What goes on in that little room at the back of the beauty salon? How many times have I shot glances at that door, listening for muffled screams? I was expecting this book to be more of an exposé, true stories from behind the door. Yes, the author does give an inside view of the actual process of waxing (who knew???). One or two of the stories are actually funny. Most of the book is the author’s personal rants about many of those subjects no one ever talks about. At least not in polite company. I found myself skimming through the rants, hoping to find more of the true stories that made me laugh out loud.

This book was laugh out loud funny and I'd love to give it more stars, but it really turned into a man-hating rant at the end.
