*I received a free ARC of this book from the author in exchange of an honest review*

ARC received on February 27th 2013

What a wild ride! And there will be more to come, as well.

This and other reviews can also be found on my blog (un)Conventional Bookviews.

Legacy starts with a bang, kind of. Krycin wakes up on the shore of an island, with no memory of who he is, what has happened to him or why he is on an island. The first person he meets is a young wizard who helps him out. The wizard is none other than Gladius. The two men become friends, even as Krycin is a little uneasy about some of the choices Gladius makes when it comes to magic and its’ usage.

I absolutely love The Time Weaver Chronicles. The story is so fascinating, well written, and while it has a lot of fantasy elements that I know and love, it also has new and unique elements that make it even more interesting.

When I first started Legacy, I was confused because I wasn’t sure if it was supposed to be a prequel, so for a bit, I felt like I was missing something. I expected the story to continue where The Time Weaver ended, but instead, I got something else. With a story all about WEAVING TIME, I shouldn’t have expected a linear story that always follow a timeline at all, so what was I thinking?! The events in Legacy were sort of similar to a prequel, but also came around full circle to the ending of The Time Weaver. While it was a bit confusing at first, I think it was brilliant and the overall effect was important. In the end, it was well executed, regardless of my initial thoughts.

Legacy told the story of Krycin and Gladius. Bits and pieces of the legend were given in The Time Weaver, but there was still so much I didn’t know. It was incredible to see Galadir before Seth arrived in The Time Weaver and watch the events unfold the way they did. Gladius was such an incredible villain! He was consumed by all this rage and hunger for power and he did some of the most incredible things with it. I mean, obviously I wasn’t rooting for him, but I really appreciated his character and his evolution from friend to foe. In my opinion, Gladius is up there with the other famous awesome villains, like Darth Vader of Voldemort. And of course, there were some twists in Gladius’ story, too.

Krycin was a wonderful character, heroic but also normal. He reminded me a lot of Seth, partly because of how much trouble he had being a hero. The Krycin I heard of in the legends in The Time Weaver seemed like he always knew what he was doing, but the real Krycin was full of self doubt, like any good hero. He was always wondering if he was doing the right thing, but he was tough at the same time.

I love how the author weaved such complex characters. Even though there’s a villain and a hero, neither characters are predictable or cookie-cutter in any way. There’s so much more depth there. The Time Weaver Chronicles have captured all of the elements complexities I love about fantasy. It’s not often that I pick up a fantasy novel, but when I do, I realize just how much I love the genre and the author has done a marvelous job with these books. Seriously, I could gush about how much I love the storyline and characters for hours. I wish I could go on, but I feel like anything I say about the plot is a spoiler, especially because I don’t know how to talk about the beginning after knowing the ending. But it’s good.

“Heroic deeds never feel that way when they happen. You could have done nothing and allowed the atrocity to happen.”

“When darkness falls on the world, we must all be heroes in our own way, even it if means doing nothing so that the sun may rise again another day.”

If you love fantasy, The Time Weaver Chronicles is a must read. I definitely recommend it.

This was more of a prequel than a sequel to the first book The Time Weaver It was entertaining, full of action and magic, lots of timeweaving but it left me unsatisfied...
I think I was unsatisfied because what I really wanted to know was what happened after the events of book one, but this one unfortunately ends at almost the same point as the last one, so I still don't know where it is going (and it sounds really good!)

You can tell that the author has grown since the first novel as the writing style feels sharper and tighter than in Time Weaver, which is great and he still manages to make the story very compelling - I read it very fast, I could have read it in one sitting if I didnt have so many other things to do (like work and life in general!) I don't really have any complaints about it, it is a good story and it makes sense (which can be difficult to do when playing around with time)
You find out a lot more about Gladius' rise to power and Krycin, and there are more time weavers about in this one, also the Narshuks are painted in a more intelligent way, more like people than the monsters of the first book.
The thing is, that nothing was really a surprise, I knew enough about what was going to happen from the stories about Krycin and Gladius from book one, to know the major plot points of this one, and granted there were things I didnt know but I think I would have preferred it if it was part of the first book, or if this book went further into the present and we got just a little bit of what happened next in Seth's timeline after the rift was closed. This one really just completely wrapped up everything to do with book one and it was done very well.

I liked the Fates messenger, and the abilities he had, appearing in smoke with his scythe. There were a few visual descriptions that I really enjoyed, and I also very much liked the few 'mythical' creatures that Krycin or Gladius met in their journeys.

The authors imagination is just as vivid as it was before, and I appreciate all the new insights I now have into the world of Galadir.

There was one thing I didnt see the necessity for

If you enjoyed The Time Weaver then you will enjoy this, just don't expect to find out what happens next yet...
I will most definitely be reading the next one, and I hope I will find out more in that one, I am especially looking forward to finding out what happened to Malia and Cedric.
I did really enjoy this book, and I shouldn't have been so disappointed not to find out these things but I can't help it that Mr Knight has written such a compelling story... I want to know more!!

Legacy, Book II of The Time Weaver Chronicles by Thomas A. Knight did not disappoint me.

Since the Chronicles are about a Time Weaver, Legacy goes back in time, opening up with Krycin washing up on the sand on the eastern beaches of Arda. He is rescued by a young man, a wizard in training, by the name of Gladius. Krycin seems to have lost all memory of who he is. Gladius affords Krycin a robe and then leads him into the kingdon of the Ardans, a people that live in the uppermost branches of the forest. Gladius hopes that their healers can help Krycin; however, the leader says he cannot be helped - Krycin must seek out his memories on his own.

Gladius informs Krycin that he has been sent to Arda by the Wizard High Council in order to study magic. There are eight basic elements that living things are aligned to, and humans can only hope to use seven, and most are only able to tap into one of the elements. Only Lyecians can use time. Krycin is curious about Lyecians, and Gladuis informs him that they are the children of Lyecha and they are the gems of the magic world, being able to control time.

The two young men study together, Gladius digging for his secrets to magic; Krycin trying to unveil who he is. Then, one day, a reaper shows up and he is looking for Krycin. He has been ordered by the Fates to retrieve Krycin and return him to where he belongs because he is a threat to the world balance. Gladius and Krycin escape the reaper's clutches and head out, making their way to Ducain's Keep where the Wizard High Council is situated.

The story begins to take on a panoramic view now as several tentacles of this fantasy world that Thomas Knight has created begin to entangle themselves together. Eventually, Krycin learns who he really is, and what his mission is to be. His heart is broken at the betrayals of those he thought to be his friends, but his resolve is solidified with what he must do as he is plunged deeper into the moments he knows he has already lived before. He eventually realizes that no matter how much he wants to change the future, that by going back into the past it is not always possible, or wise to do so.

Legacy will have you turning the pages ... a fantasy that could very well become an epic movie one day, paralleling itself with the likes of The Lord of the Rings! A must read for any lover of fantasy. I await the next chapters of The Time Weaver Chronicles.

This was a great continuation of the Time Weaver Chronicles. All I could think while reading this book was how, with a good new friend like Gladius...Krycin definitely doesn't need any more or new enemies! This book takes a new kind of direction, in that Krycin is found washed up on shore naked and with no memory of anything about himself. He remembers "Krycin" so he assumes that is his name, but remembers nothing else and every time he tries to remember something he gets huge headaches that make him not want to try anymore to remember things. He is taken in by Gladius, but soon learns that he is anything but a friend of his and is only out to make himself look better to the Council. Soon Krycin is forced into hiding while trying to make sure he is not destroyed before he can remember who he really is. Who can Krycin really trust? Who is he really? Why are the Fates out to kill him? So many questions and so few answers are in Krycin's head. Will Krycin figure it all out before it's too late?

The writing of Thomas A. Knight, once again amazes me in the descriptiveness and the rapid flow of it all. The characters are great and well developed, with an air of mystery and wonder to them. I enjoyed the first book in this set and was not disappointed when reading this second book in the set. The plot is full of wonder and adventure and excitement. I found myself reading late into the night because the flow of the plot was so enthralling to me. The chapters left me saying, "just one more" right up to the point of "....and, I'm done". Anyone seeking a reading journey of adventure, action, and wonder in a book with great writing and characters definitely should take this reading journey! I'm glad I did. Once again great work by a great author. The only thing that kind of confused me until I read more into the book and got my own memory back, was that I had forgotten some of the first book. Once reading on in the book, it all came back to me, and it wasn't super necessary to have remembered, but I wanted to. I feel it added to the book, like reading any books before the newest one in a series is supposed to. Other than that, it was a very exciting read.

This review is for the Kindle edition ebook.

A man, a wizard, a lost memory, the excitement continues.

Krycin can not remember his past. The blue wizard Gladius finds him, determined to help Krycin regain those lost memories. I actually found myself feeling sorry for Kyrcin as those he trusted turned against him, and the only thing he did is try to help.

This is an exciting book to read. Like the first book in this series, it will keep you guessing to the end. Of course, any book this exciting will need its share of twists and turns. Legacy will not disappoint the reader! It has its share of twists, and the best one is at the end.

This book will make you want to read the next one, of course. The author has done a tremendous job writing a sequel to "The Time Weaver" and keeping the story as interesting and exciting as the first book.

I would recommend this to all fantasy readers who enjoy a fast-paced, exciting book. I am now anxiously waiting for the third book of the series. I don't how Thomas Knight plans to top this one, but having read the first two books in the series, I am sure the next one will also be great reading!

Many thanks to the author for supporting Reglue. A portion of the money received for each eBook sold is donated directly to Reglue (reglue.org), a charity that provides free computers to underprivileged children and families.

Legacy is the second book of the Time Weaver Chronicles, but you could easily read it first, and if you did, you’d want to pick up volume 1 and read it immediately afterwards. As befits a series with Time Weaver in its title, both time and characters are carefully woven in this tale. The story takes place, for the most part, in a world of magical powers, curious landscapes, and ever more curious creatures. A very pleasing system of magic follows its own laws convincingly, and the author does a really impressive job of imagining how different powers might be mastered, or might master their wielder. The creatures of the world have their own societies too, and peace is maintained across borders between races, and between magics. But that peace is threatened, perhaps by a prophecy, or perhaps by something that’s already happened in the past. Time is woven in a knot around this tale as the man with no memory faces a future with no history and tries to change it. Just as everything falls into place, just as the great grand battle draws to its close, then there’s an extra spanner in the works, another amazing “Oh, of course!” moment, and the promise of more books to come. I enjoyed volume 1 well enough, but now I’m hooked.

I'm partial to fantasy stories. The kind with wizards and warriors and the fate of the world hanging by a thread. The kind where the hero struggles with weakness in spite of having great strength. The kind where evil seems insurmountable but is ultimately overcome by good. I also like stories that are not filled with foul language or gratuitous sex. Stories that tell a story and don't just create a series of crazy situations for the hero to survive.

If you're like me, you'll love Legacy. It's all of these things. You'll especially enjoy Legacy if you've already read The Time Weaver, which you should pick up as well.

This book rocks along like a movie – a thoroughly believable character coming to terms with a pretty incredible world as he strives to regain memories lost in the huge trauma before the book began. The world that the author has created has some fascinating aspects that reveal his vast experience and expertise in the fantasy gaming arena – in many ways it's like an online game brought into fiction.

The Time Weaver Chronicles are set in a beautifully described world full of monsters, wizards, dragons and other magical characters. I read this before completing the first book and it stood well on its own – there was no need to have read the previous adventures.

I can’t help but make comparisons to awesome movies like Avatar, the magical elements are just as well done and very credible. This book will be a good addition to any fantasy/sci-fi collection.

If you liked this one, I can thoroughly recommend the prequel The Time Weaver and the sequel Reprisal.
