Though the cover says 'Yak Fighter in Action', the title page says 'Yak Fighters in Action', which is a far better title as this book in the famous 'In action series' describes history and development of all fighters as built by the Yakovlev factories. After a brief introduction in the history of the Yakovlev Design Bureau we get to see the I-26 prototype, the forerunner of a series of planes of wich 36.000 were built. Further it goes with the Yak 1 in its various versions, the Yak 3, the Yak 7, the Yak 9 and its various versions, and we even get to see the Yak 11 (a trainer), the Yak 15 -the first Soviet jet fighter-, the Yak 17 (introducing the nosewheel to the basic design) and finally the Yak 23, the last fighter to be built by Yakovlev.
