As the Romans threaten to overrun Britain and conquer her people, Sirona, a young Drui in training, seeks to use her visions to change the course of history. As she encounters great danger and has her deepest beliefs challenged, she is aided in her quest by fellow students, Bryn, who loves Sirona and wants to be a warrior rather than a Drui, and Cruthin, who is obsessed with seeking out the mysteries of the Otherworld.
Lady of the Moon is the first part of The Silver Wheel, an epic tale of the Celtic Britons and their struggle against the invading Romans. Combining history, romance and mysticism, Lady of the Moon celebrates the ancient eternal forces that guide all our destinies.
I write romance novels set in the dark ages, medieval and English Regency time periods and fantasy and historical novels with Celtic influences. My books have been published in Russia, China, the Netherlands and Germany. I was raised in the Midwest but I’ve lived in Wyoming for over thirty years. I work at a public library where I have the enviable job of ordering adult fiction. I’m married and have two grown children, When not working or writing, I enjoy gardening, traveling and reading, of course!
We are in England just at the start of the Roman occupation. Sirona is studying to be a Drui amongst her tribe. She is gifted and has visions that are supposed to help guide her people. As a young woman Sirona is trying to come to terms with her gifts while at the same time trying to keep her talents a secret. A couple of decisions that Sirona makes do not go necessarily as planned and she is forced to live with the repercussions.
This novel was very descriptive and I found the words pulling me into Sirona’s surroundings. I have a clear picture of the rituals and lifestyle of the people. With that being said, I did find it to be a bit wordy at times and I wish more happened in the book. It seemed there was a lot of telling, but not enough doing.
There will be a sequel and because I am interested in this period may pick it up to continue the story. I just hope it moves a bit quicker.
