I have some criticisms, like how it seems like a race-blind historical materialism framework of analysis was used to say that the civil war was caused primarily because of the economic struggle between the north and south, but then the authors posit that to improve conditions for farmers we must change societies underlying philosophy, which aligns Hegelian dialectic framework instead. Also, little to no consideration was given to indigenous individuals particularly with regard to the homestead acts, and there was not discussion of Eastern philosophical roots with regards to farming. But I do thing it contains some interesting ideas beyond that and I think it's mostly sound.
