Eclectic Learning Profile

The Eclectic Learning Profile (ELP) is far more than just a learning style inventory. The ELP investigates 12 different ways of learning or processing reality and then offers recommendations on how to optomize learning potential and how to get organized. It helps to reveal each student's unique ways of assimilating information, so teachers, service providers and parents can offer strategies that work. In addition to the profile, a comprehensive manual offers administration support, helpful handouts, specific organizational and compensatory learning strategies, and workshop materials that can improve any learning environment. Who Can Use the Learning specialists and tutors can use evaluate students best ways of learning so that they can teach them empowering strategies that will work. Also, the ELP can be utilized in consultations with families so family members can better understand one another and effectively implement strategies at home. Parents are enlightened by the ELP, because they can learn how each family member assimilates and recalls information best. Students find the inventory easy to complete, very informative, and easy to apply. When a student’s approach to learning is internalized, motivation will improve and academic success will result. Career counselors can use the ELP to help uncover appropriate occupations for respondents. For instance, tactile learners love to work with their hands, thus careers such as massage therapy, sculpting, and architectural design may prove to be most fulfilling. Testing Professionals can utilize the ELP to enhance reports. The manual is full of study and organizational recommendations that will assist all types of learners.
