Based on Rachel Bridge's popular workshops, this book will help set you on the way to success. As the former Enterprise Editor for the Sunday Times, Rachel has interviewed hundreds of successful entrepreneurs. How to Start a Business Without Any Money

Before starting this book, I was excited at the prospect of learning something new about business, but after reading it, it was a different story.

To begin, I may state that this book had some excellent ideas and clearly defined a few things that are important for starting a new venture . Every chapter discusses a difficulty that every new business must face in order to succeed. Such as how to sell and promote your items, how to choose a suitable price for your product , how to do advertising for your products, and so on. The book's flaw is that half of what it says is more easily applicable in previously industrialized countries. It would be more difficult to put those things in place in less organized and poorer countries. Another problem of this book is that it is very UK-centric and therefore irrelevant.

It had some really good ideas and explained a few points pretty good. The problem with the book is that half of the things it says are more easily applicable in already developed countries. It would be tougher to implement those things in the less organised and poorer countries. But the basic principles stay the same. So I think it will still be helpful for everyone. Albeit not to the same extent.

I'd like to give this book seven stars. I recommend it for every aspiring entrepreneur. It answers all of your questions, from the easy ones to the most complicated, and sometimes obvious but maybe forgotten aspects to starting a business, and I guess not everybody knows everything so basically the author left nothing out. It feels good to learn knew things.

The book is written in an easy to follow, understandable and right to the point style. The good thing about it is that it talked about real life examples of startup businesses and the author's own small business. It is not just vague concepts of what should be done but real situations in the lives of people and how they achieved success, the difficulties they faced and obstacles they had to deal with and how they managed to reach their goals.

The author provided so many interesting Links to help you start a business, but unfortunately they are all UK based, so non are useful here where I live.

I want to end my review with this quote form the book: (You can't simply put your life on hold in the hope that external factors beyond your control will improve. Because they might not get better any time soon, and by then you will be that much older, and that much more fearful of doing something bold.) ~ Rachel Bridge.

It is quite true, never put your life or dreams on hold, in the hope that other things get better first, start now, make the first step today, because if you don't, without realizing, the years will pass by, and you'll get older and maybe lose the spark and energy to do anything at all, and your potentially amazing life (in an alternate version of reality) will never be achieved because you didn't move early from your comfortable seat.

While the concepts are international the entire book seems to be about purely UK. Great read nonetheless as it provides such a holistic view to covering maximum factors. Still extremely relevant for new SMEs

Certainly not the best book I’ve read in this genre and it’s focus on the UK for examples really lost anything significant I could take from this.

Sound advice. Not exactly "no money" but certainly good tips on not being foolish with startup expenses. Show the process of thinking things through properly.

When it comes to reading business books, I like things set out simply, something that comes with a story, something that eases you in rather than scares you off with all the jargon and the stats.

How to Start A Business...' Does exactly that, the author breaking each stage of entrepreneurship into relevant chapters, with great anecdotes, whilst talking about her own small business set up, Entrepeneur Things. Rachel is a great author, her writing and style is breezy but informative and it made me want to head straight over to her website and support her venture too.

As a relatively new small-business owner, I really enjoyed this book, felt inspired and found new bits and pieces that I'm sure will come in useful when I'm developing My own ideas.

I always like a book that teaches me something. Even if it's just one new thing. This book taught me a few new things and also how to think a little differently as well. It's great when an Author has a different perspective on things and Rachel was not afraid to tell it as it is for her and yeah, she may have taken a bit of flak over the years for her ideas or beliefs but thank goodness she didn't give up. Great book for those just starting out or thinking about starting out. Thanks for a good insight into quite a few varied business ideas and not so much just concepts.

Semi interesting - semi patronising. It was very interesting to hear about how some businesses which I'd heard of got going, but I didn't think Rachel's entrepreneur things business idea sounded all that promising.

The most interesting idea I found was that you can look at things that are under-used and start a business with them

Well, yeah - it takes you where it says it will. Just about. Except not really. The only point I picked up on cost me £16.51 (three years for the dot co dot UK domain to match the dot com I already have). It'll do others a power if good to read this book, though.
