Every home has its secrets…For Nora, the truth starts to be revealed on Halloween night.

It’s been a bad few months for Nora Wilson. There was a huge fire in her family’s apartment this summer, and her parents have been acting superweird ever since. They won’t let her or her brother out of the apartment anymore, not even to go to school. So when Nora’s parents say she can go trick-or-treating on Halloween, Nora is thrilled. And she’s even more thrilled to make a new friend, Caitlin, who just moved into the apartment building. Caitlin knows nothing about what happened to Nora’s family, but she does seem to know a lot about the ghosts that are rumored to haunt the building. As she shares these ghost stories with Nora, Nora can’t help but be chilled by them. Are they hitting just a little too close to home?

This spooky story is rated a Level 4 on the Creep-o-Meter.

I gave this book 3 stars because it was obvious from the start what had happened so I thought the story was going towards a different direction. But, I enjoyed reading the story in its unique way. And even though it's a children's book it was fun. Besides it's not the first time I read a children's book. Many of them are really good. You should try it some time if you never have.

Another one that surprised me. I love it when a children's book keeps a twist from me till the end. You'll find some aspects of the haunting fairly obvious but others much harder to figure out. The characters were great and it was a very enjoyable read.

The “plot twist” was so obvious within the first couple pages. Even the little summary in the back of the book spoiled the ending for me. I know that this book its targeted to young kids but Nora and her family being ghosts were so in your face from the beginning of the book I would be surprised if a kid didn’t pick that up. This was one of the weakest creepover books in my opinion.

Cover 2; characters 3; Plot 2; Pace 3; Intrigue 1; Logic 2; worldbuilding 3; Writing 3; Enjoyment 3.

This was probably my least favorite of this series. I really didn't like the fact that the plot was completely guessable from the blurb on the back of the book. Like yes, I get that these books are made for 12 y/o's but normally there's something to them that is either spooky or surprising but I didn't really find that here. There wasn't anything that I found scary or spooky, it was just a bunch of kids goofing off and an obvious plot twist.

This is another one where I thought the twist was going to be so incredibly obvious, just to get surprised at the end! Yes, I was right on the main part, but HOW it happened was a shock.

The most boring and also most predictable book in this series.

From the first chapter I knew what Nora was, and I knew why her parents kept her away. That was a shame, because it ruined the book for me. I generally don't mind slightly predictable books, but this was overly predictable.

I didn't like Nora that much. I felt she was just trying too hard, and she was quite oblivious to things. I mean how can she think it is ok to just stay in a burnt out shell of a house? No one, no matter if they have money or not does that, yet nothing about it.
I also hated her at the ending. I don't see why she had to do that to her friends. Friends that liked her, friends that were happy to see her and yet she treated them like this. She went from annoying girl > aww poor girl and yeah that she found friend > Oh my Gosh what a bitch.

Lucas, the little brother, I just wanted to throw him out of the window. I mean seriously, he didn't once listen to his sister or parents, he just did whatever he wanted. Annoyed everyone and was just a pest. I think the book could have done without him.

The parents, I didn't understand why they just couldn't tell their kids. I am sure they would have understood. But I guess that would probably ruin the plot of the story.

All in all, this book was a disappointment.

Okay, I tried reading it once, but never finished it. I think it has an interesting premise. A haunted apartment building? A mysterious fire? Parents who are smothering their kids and never allow them outside for mysterious reason?

Count me in!

Unfortunately, I figured out the twist after starting the book.

Overall, it seems like a good book, but I knew the twist. It's not horrible, but kind of predictable. It wasn't the greatest book in the series.
