This is the third book in the 'Galaxy Zack' series and the third book in which Zack goes to a new planet. In the first one, he and his family moved from Earth to Nebulon; in the second one, he and his class went on a field trip to a newly discovered planet of crystals called Juno; and in this one, they need to return a youngling pterosaur to a prehistoric planet. This series was a really good idea and I'm going to keep reading it, but I do feel like Zack needs to stop 'planet hopping' before it becomes a bit unbelievable in the bad way. What I hope the next book (and possibly the next couple books) will delve into is more about life on Nebulon. I gave the first one 5 stars and the second one got 4, and I was basically thinking 'yippie wah-wah.' This one? Not so much. On top of the basically repetitive storyline, there is a little bit of 'babyish' exclamations even though there weren't any in the first two. It's still not a bad story, but I give this one only 3 stars because of using the same idea a third time. Nopey wah-wah.
Zack gets to visit his father's lab on take your child to work day, and he dreams of being part of the team to take the pterosaur back to its home planet. Can dreams come true?
Even knowing that this is obviously scifi, the plot takes a little suspension of belief. But kids should absolutely love the idea of a boy getting to take a pterosaur to its home planet. This is mostly just a dream come true fun read with very little conflict. Zack does have a little breakthrough in realizing he's starting to think of Nebulon as his home now, which is a good and important point in the overarching plot of the series. Getting to where you're comfortable and settled in a new home is an important milestone.

I read this book to my youngest daughter after school today and she loved it. I think her response upon completion was...when do we get the next volume? That is always a true test of how enjoyable a book is when it is within a series. She said it was so "Grape!" (Inside book series joke). This story puts Zack on a new planet again and has some awesome moments he gets to experience! A winning combination and another triumphant entry to the series!
Third in the series. A baby pterosaur accidentally lands on Nebulon, and Jack, in his capacity as part of the Sprockets Academy Explorers Club, gets to accompany his dad and other engineers and scientists on the mission to return the pterosaur to its home, the Prehistoric Planet, where dinosaurs still live and thrive. A fun entry in the series; kids interested in sci-fi can read about both astronomy AND dinosaurs.
I enjoyed this book because I like Galaxy Zack books. I did not like this book because I do not like dinosaurs. Some of them are meat-eaters, so they eat meat. A pterodactyl came to Nebulon and some people put it back to the prehistoric planet.
Luisa: I didn't like the dinosaur words that I couldn't pronounce. What I did like was that he got to go on the mission to take the baby dinosaur home with his dad!
This one was okay. Not sure why he had a dream about the planet he had no idea of. Seems like there should be something more there and it is not explored. Alas, it is a children's book.
Zack finds out about a Prehistoric Planet which is full of dinosaurs that are extinct on Earth. One of the babies got lost and now the scientists of Nebulonics built a ship for him to be brought back to his planet on. His dad is invited onto the mission and Zack gets permission to join them. His dog, Lila, even sneaks on and they explore a small area of a dinosaur inhabited planet.
