*****

North Dakota's political people's poet, McGrath writes poems with a Midwestern sensibility and truthfulness. Honest without pretention, McGrath's writing was voluminous and varied. His last is the first I've read. I am anxious to check out his other work...

If you are a fan of the short poem done well, you will probably like this much as much as I did. I've only recently discovered this author. He has an interesting biography. The dissenters in American history are always interesting for the way they will tell the other sides of the story. If you like James Wright and/or Franz Wright, you will probably love this book. McGrath works those same cold ores.

Written in McGrath's final days. One of the best examples of the strength and beauty of the short poem.
