Jack Blank confronts his destiny in this action-packed conclusion to the trilogy Publishers Weekly calls a “no-holds-barred adventure.”
Ever since Jack Blank learned that he came from the amazing country of the Imagine Nation, he’s known that his fate could go down two very different paths—he could either be the greatest hero the world has ever known, or its greatest villain.
Now the final battle is here, and it’s time for Jack to discover the direction of his destiny.
The action-packed trilogy concludes with more surprises, twists, and adventure than ever—along with the same humor and heart that has brought so many fans to Jack’s story.

How do I even begin this review? I've got a huge smile on my face as I type this, and am still a bit teary eyed over it all. The End of Infinity wraps up Jack's story in a big way. We find Jack right after the end of the last book. For those of you who haven't started this series yet (shame on you) I won't spoil, but it felt good to have the mystery of what happened to Jack cleared up almost instantly. Or so I thought. What follows is a story that has so many twists and turns that it's hard not to tear the pages as you flip through them like mad.
I loved Jack's characters in the last two books, and this one was no exception. Here we find a boy who is broken, lost, and almost at the point of despair. At his core, the same Jack still exists. Intelligent, kind, and courageous to a fault. It's the inner battle that he fights that is taking a toll on him. The End of Infinity shows Jack as he nears the point of no return. Will he become a villain, or a hero? It's all a matter of hope, and the strength that he finds within. Lucky for him, he still has his friends to keep him on the right track.
I can't explain to you how great Jack Blank is in this series. I could compare him to other characters out there, but that wouldn't do him justice. What I will say is that he is a role model. Someone to look up to. Despite being constantly told that he wouldn't amount to anything, he did. Even when things seemed horribly bleak, he kept fighting. The resilience and utter strength that this character has is so admirable. This may be a Middle Grade book, but that doesn't matter one bit. Everyone can find something of themselves in Jack Blank and his friends.
This is definitely a much darker book than the first two. It was inevitable, as the Rustov war crept closer to Jack and the Imagine Nation. What I appreciated though was that Myklusch doesn't sugar coat the war, but instead shows both the good and the bad in sharp contrast. The fact that hope can spring up even in the face of total devastation. How people who were once at odds can band together to fight for a common cause. It's beautiful and heart wrenching to read some of the scenes in this book.
I could go on and on. You've seen me rave over these books. I can't even believe that, at least for the moment, there is no more of Jack Blank's epic story left. Let me tell you, I've been let down by quite a few series in the past. Loved them the whole way through until the last book left a bad taste in my mouth. This series? Jack's series? I absolutely devoured every single last action-packed minute of it. This may be the last book, but Matt Myklusch's characters and the Imagine Nation will live on in my own imagination forever. Welcome to my new favorite book series of all time.
The End of Infinity By Matt Myklusch 416 Pages – Ages 9+ Published by Aladdin on August 7, 2012
Jack Blank was never like any other kid. When he lived at the orphanage weird things would happen when he got close to machines. He didn’t understand his powers until a representative from the Imagine Nation found him and took him back with him. The Imagine Nation is the place where superheros are trained. While in the Imagine Nation, Jack learned of the Rüstov aliens who can take over humans and machines by infecting them with a virus. The Rüstov have invaded the Imagine Nation and are planning to take over the whole world. Jack quickly trains as a hero but also learn a terrible secret that connects him to Revile, an evil Rustov super-soldier determined to destroy everything in his path.
In The End of Infinity, Jack finds himself in a Rüstov prison but quickly escapes with the help of his friends from the Imagine Nation. When Jack returns to the Imagine Nation it erupts into was with itself. The People of the Imagine Nation now know Jack’s connection to Revile, some believe that Jack can defeat the Rüstov while others think he will destroy them all. Can Jack bring the Imagine Nation together or will Revile destroy him and the entire world?
This whole series ROCKS!! I liked the plot in this book, a hero has to fight the things inside of him and defeat a great evil. It is pretty suspenseful. It was my kind of book – lots of action, excitement and adventure! It was so good, I couldn’t put it down! Jack is an awesome character. He is nice, smart, and I imagined myself as him when I read the book. I also really liked the character of Solomon Roka. He reminded me of a spy or secret agent. That kind of means he was cool and awesome. I felt sad when the Rüstov took over his body. I like a lot of action, excitement, and adventure, so I really like the fight scenes in this book. This is a great end for the trilogy, but I do wish that there was more to read. I recommend this (awesome) book to kids 9+! I can’t wait to read what Mr. Myklusch writes next!
[Full disclosure: Matt Myklusch sent me a copy of The End of Infinity to review as I saw fit after he saw I loved The Accidental Hero. There was an understanding between us that sending me the next two books in his trilogy would not guarantee him a good review.]
Whoa.
I haven’t been speechless like this since I finished Mira Grant’s Blackout. And for those of you who know how much I loved the Newsflesh trilogy, you know that’s really saying something. Here’s why I’m lost for words:
There were so many times in the story that Matt Myklusch painted himself into such a tight corner I seriously had my doubts about his ability to pull things off. Obviously, he plotted out his trilogy very carefully or he would never have been able to pull off such unexpected twists. He did something that few authors have done to me: he made me very skeptical there could ever be a happy ending. Truly, he spares his characters no pain and The End of Infinity is a much better book for it.
Jack is an amazing character. He goes through so much in his short life and it’s amazing that he is still a functional human being. Is he three dimensional? Absolutely! Jack is a character everyone (even girls) can relate to, yet he’s very flawed as he tries to do everything himself. But when you look at what happened to him in the last two books, it’s not at all surprising he has trust issues, especially when he learns who his father is. Hint: it’s not who you think.
Very few series endings are satisfying for me, but Matt Myklusch managed to wrap things up nicely while still leaving potential for a sequel or even a spin-off series. This is probably one of the only series that I actually wouldn’t mind the author continuing. In fact, I’m all for it! The world of the Imagine Nation still has so much potential, especially for prequels.
Welcome to The End of Infinity by Matt Myklusch, the third and final book in the Jack Blank trilogy. Matt has offered one lucky reader a signed hardback copy! Just fill out the rafflecopter form below. The Story- At the end of book 2, Jack finds himself a prisoner of the Rustov. Now, a year later, his friends have arrived to rescue him. But Jack isn’t the same boy he used to be, he’s been augmented by the Rustov and his infection is growing. Back home in Imagine Nation the people see only Jack’s Rustov parts, and order his immediate death. With only his friends to defend him, Jack is forced to flee. But time is short, the Rustov attack fleet is coming, and Jack doesn’t know if he is strong enough to defeat the parasite inside him. It’s time for Jack to choose, Imagine Nation or the Rustov. My Thoughts- A great end to a wonderful trilogy. I’ve enjoyed this entire series. It is full of action, heroes, and robot space aliens. The true struggle is the battle one faces within their own soul, and I’ve never seen it done so well as in this series. Jack fights with every part of his being to stay strong, and he learns that even if his body is broken, his will is strong. Matt does a wonderful job pacing the story. There is not one moment of boredom. And the question of what Jack will become and what choice he will make is never clear until the end, and by then, you don’t know if he is strong enough for his own decision. Another bonus to this story is the amazing side characters. Jack has a whole cohort of friends and mentors who stay with him until the bitter end. Each character is well developed, with their own quirks, powers, and emotions. There is no confusion about who is saying or doing what. Jack Blank is a hero for this middle grade generation, and I recommend this book, and trilogy, for MG and YA.
Favorite book? Definitely. This series has blown its way into my top three because of the consistent excitement, action, and adventure. The End Of Infinity is my favorite book because its displays to never give in and quit but to keep persevering and continue to work hard.
This book is about a boy named Jack Blank who discovers his powers at the age of 12. He can control machines. He travels to a secret land by the name of Imagination. People who inhabit this land are gifted with extraordinary abilities. The heroes of this land are the sacred defender of the six boroughs. His mentor, Stendeval, the 500-year-old legend believes that Jack is special and will eradicate the Rüstov, their war long enemies. They find out Jack is infected but is rejecting it and adapting to its power. The inner circle, filled by the heroes of Imagination, votes for Jack to live and study in the most prestigious school in Imagination, the school of thought. In the first book, Jack fights a dreaded enemy named Revile, the prince of the Rüstov. He learns that he himself is destined to become him.
In The End Of Infinity, the Imagination is in the final battle against the Rüstov. Jack has to persevere, fight through many emotional and physical pains, of nearly losing friends, allies... and even finding out who his real father. The only problem with these books is that there will be no more coming out in the series. I love these books and am looking forward to Matt Myklusch releasing more like them.
So after book two, I wasn’t sure. I started this and was kinda like wow ok this is action-packed. And then I couldn’t put it down. Plot-twists and turns and a thunderin climax. This book didn’t really have a lot of character change or development like there was in book two. but that was ok, bc I kind of felt like in book two, it got anxsty and a little bogged down in that. This felt like an action superhero movie, but the whole conflict was very creative and the worldbuilding was very thorough. Also, lol, there are SO many parallels to HP and while there are big differences, the similarities are kinda crazy…maybe at another date when I’m not lazy and busy, I’ll write them down.
What a fantastic series for young readers! As a parent, nothing is more satisfying than discovering a book you hope your child will pick up and enjoy every moment they spend reading it like you did. This is one series my son is anxious to start reading this year, and I can't wait for him to start it. Jack Blank's adventures span three books, The Accidental Hero, The Secret War (the links go to my reviews for each book) and the final book in the series, The End of Infinity. What an awesome series this is! I have loved reading about Jack's journey, watching him grow as a character, and getting to be apart of his world. Everything about this series, it's characters and it's world building is simply amazing!
Through out the entire series Jack has been overlooked many times and told he'd never amount to anything. In reality this resilient young hero proves he can do more than anyone thought he could, especially in this book. Even when the whole world, both the Imagination and the real world are against him, he finds the strength within himself to do some incredible things. I loved that about him. One of the things I loved about this series is the messages found in each book. Some of my favorites messages in the series have come from a character whom I've compared to Yoda before, because of his inspirations messages and the good he sees in Jack. He's always giving advice to Jack, but it's also advice that readers can take to heart. This time my favorite message is from Jack, and in saying this I also feel like it shows readers just how much Jack has grown as a character.
"A hero was someone who tried to make a difference, even when everyone else thought all hope was lost. Being a hero meant putting the needs of others before your own. Being a hero meant sacrifice." (pg. 321)
Jack proves he's a hero time and time again. Similar to two other beloved children's characters, Harry Potter and Luke Skywalker, Jack Blank is a character who has some incredible odds stacked against him, and when his journey is done he realizes his future is, and has always been in his hands. He determines his own outcome. Before you roll your eyes that I'm comparing him to these greats, I've it before in talking about this series, but I'll give you a few new reasons why here. Growing up these characters are deemed as your every day kid, and some would call them nerdy, but regardless, these three have this incredible inner strength, amazing will power and that goodness about them that make them all unlikely heroes, and beloved by both kids and adults like. They each do some pretty incredible things in their own way. Though they're guided by a wise friend, it's up to each of them to find their own way and become that great person their mentor sees in them. They're all destined for great things, and capture their reader's attention, and make us as readers cheer them one. Like Harry and Luke, Jack is a character readers will relate to in some form. We've either been in his shoes or been told we'd never amount to anything, or we've been that character who was bullied, or been put in situations were we wondered how in the world we would get through it. Similar to the other two beloved heroes, Jack Blank is a new unlikely hero young fans will be rooting for, will be inspired by and will fall in love with.
Now I know this is a middle grade series, and I'm a grown up who's raving about this book/series. Let me just say, great literature, especially children's literature doesn't have a cap of what age group reads it. This is a book and series adults will love just as much as kids. They're plenty of action and humor that readers of all ages will enjoy, and get. If you're looking for a fabulous book that the entire family can enjoy, I highly recommend picking this one up! You can be sure you'll see this on my top 10 favorite lists at the end of the year.
I'm unsure what to say. It was better than the second (where Jack lied and didn't try very hard), but neither was it as good as the first (where the Imagine Nation was new and interesting and Jack unproven). Jack didn't lie (points to him), but he didn't seem to be trying his hardest either. He started a battle knowing it wouldn't end until he discovered a secret, and he just hoped he would figure it out before it was too late? Really? Even though it would have saved lives to wait and study and find the secret BEFORE starting the battle? You lost points, Jack. His Dad? Awesome scene, though a bit drawn out. Khalix? Cool to have the voice of evil piping up now and then, and for the tattoo to show up on Jack's face for all to see; very poignant. I love that Jack took a practical view to it all and didn't gloom about as many MCs would have in his situation. Not enough description. What do the characters look like? I'm left with a very vague impression. Smart is dumb. If you're going to write a supposed genius, make him intelligent! The only good genius book characters are Ender Wiggin (and friends) and Artemis Fowl. That I've read, anyway.
I fell in love with this series by the time I finished the first chapter of the first book. I finished the first book before the other two came out; when the title of the book was 'The Imagine Nation'. After some time, I came back to the series, reread the first book, now titled 'The Accidental Hero', and finished the second and thirds books as well. This review will make no sense whatsoever if you haven't read the first two books, so go ahead and read them, they are great books.
This book starts out with Jack in a rustöv spaceship far from earth. After being promptly rescued by a man named Solomon Roka, Jack and Solomon fight through some rustöv ships, Jack learns that his ability was altered by the rustöv when he was held prisoner, he now cannot control any rustöv technology. Jack arrives with the Imagine Nation in turmoil, Smartcorp being as meddlesome as ever, and the threat of a rustöv attack on the Imagine Nation.
This is the end....:( As the trilogy comes to an end the third book is by no means less than the first two.
Jack has been taken... His future with the Rustov is coming ever so nearer... Can his friends rescue him in time before the Rustov armada plans their next attack - Earth.
The imagine Nation is under harsh times as Jack is now the number one target for nearly every Empire City citizen. With the help of his friends can they beat the Magus of the Rustov or will jack's infection overpoer him and use Jack's power against his own friends... Find out in the last instalment of the Imagine Nation...
A good ending, with a Harry Potter-type ending, meaning that everything explains itself in the end. But it would've been better if they had some sort of death, where a main character dies. Allegra and Stendeval were infected by Rustov, but they just had to be brought back. Jack turned into Revile, but he just had to have an antidote!

My head went boom Then it went boom It kept going boom Until it went boom Then it went boom Next it went boom Then it did a boom And finally it went boom -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- :O :) :0 Absolutely AMAZING! C'mon people! READ THIS SERIES! *I guarantee that your head will explode while reading this (in a good way, of course 😈)
My name is Allegra, and Jonas Smart has gone too far. I knew he would accuse Jack of being a Rostov spy again, but he ordered his soldiers to attack him with thousands of innocent civilians around. I don't know exactly what the Rustov did to Jack while he was captive for a year, but he announced they're planning an all-out invasion of Imagine Nation. Smart ignored Jack's warning, and his unjust xenophobia has led to Jazen's imprisonment and has the citizens nearing a civil war. Jack's supporters are accused of being pro-Rustov, and the timing couldn't be worse. The Rustov invasion is here, and no one is prepared. Jack is the wild card. He's my best friend, but his fear of becoming Revile sometimes paralyzes him. A Rustov parasite is inside his head, and the Rustov surgically implanted a power cell into his chest. We're all doomed if Jack can't suppress Khalix and become our most powerful weapon again.
You must read the previous books to understand this one. Even though many characters had superpowers, the series read more like science fiction due to the significance of machines in the plot. The robotic parasite had been inside Jack since the beginning and was growing stronger. It created an ongoing internal conflict that seemed impossible to resolve without Jack's death. How could he overcome Khalix, as the Rustov machine slowly took over his body? The Rustov prince spoke in Jack's head and kept reminding him how futile it was to resist the transformation. I loved how the author continued to weave all kinds of twists into the plot that required my thought and imagination. The Rustov had been planning the invasion for a decade and were always one step ahead. However, one decision dramatically back-fired on them, and one character hinted about it all through the series. Characters changed sides, and another character made a surprise reappearance. In addition, a lingering question about Jack's past is finally answered during the plot's resolution. Overall, the series may not appeal to everyone, but lovers of robots and science fiction should really enjoy it. I did!
The pacing on this one was really good, much better than the previous book. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and read through it in a single day. There wasn't a dull moment and time just flew by as I read it.
I do think one decision in the book should have had a permanent consequence. The fact that it could be undone (without any indication that undoing it was possible anywhere in the book) was rather cheap, in my opinion, and devalued the theme of sacrifice throughout the book. There was also the resolution of a mystery that came out of nowhere that should have been foreshadowed more.
I do like the notion that one of the comic books Jack read in the first novel was actually about his future self. I'm surprised there wasn't a callback on that (honestly, I'm kind of surprised I remembered).
Just finished The End of Infinity and WOW. I took this series with me on holiday to read occasionally and enjoy but the amazing writing pulled me in so I had to keep reading and I’m left with no books to read for the rest of my holiday. There are so many plot twists everywhere and none of them were predictable, every assumption I had was wrong and I loved it. What an amazing series, even moral meanings were true and really meaningful. Each character developed well, this series is amazing so thank you Matt Myklusch, thank you. I only had one issue, And SPOILER ALERT ahead: Jack and Allegra were such an adorable pair and I don’t ship characters often, but I loved how they acted and just wish they had gotten closer. But still 5 stars, Thank you Matt
Shortly after being rescued from the hands of the Rüstov, Jack and his friends are thrown into the chaos of a crumbling Imagine Nation as the invaders begin to break apart their spirits, and only by facing their fears and the perils of the virus can the heroes and villains stand a chance - or face the end of civilization! Myklusch brings this entertainingly action-packed trilogy to a close with exciting chases, terrifying battles, and a heart wrenching climax that will shock and astound! Even with the end of the world coming, Jack must face the pain of being outcast by not only his enemies, but by his own people...
So after the agonizing cliff hanger of the last book I was expecting more scenes in the spaceship and was kind of disappointed. But I can't possibly give this book 3 stars just because it didn't have what I wanted.
I'm going to skip ahead to the end of the book... I wish there was more scenes with his father and was again sad there wasn't.
If I based my view on things I wanted to happen (like a lot of people here do) this book would have like a 1 star. BUT this book gave the best possible ending to the jack blank series. Its unfortunate that this is the end but it has to end somehow.
I didn't find that this book reached the high points of standard I had in mind for the previous books. Somehow it just seemed different but overall I would have to say this series is a good read. A great read for the great adventure ahead.
Jack Blank was my childhood, and it was not a 'children's book'. Despite being written for younger people, Matt Myklusch holds nothing back. It is an unforgivably honest kind of book, showcasing the realities of war, the complications of politics, and the feelings of ostracization that so many go through. Despite this, it's a GOOD book, that takes place in a GOOD world. Happy endings don't hurt, either.
I recommend Jack Blank's story to anyone who will read it. I continue to do so to this day.
This series was one I absolutely loved, and its end was bittersweet. This book definitely put my heart through a lot of mixed emotions, but in the end I found myself happy with the ending. I found Smart's resemblance of current politicians, as well as the Rustov's resemblance of them, a bit unsettling. Definitely an eyeopener of a series if you are able to connect the book to current life situations.
This is now my second favorite book series. I’ve never had such blatant lessons thrown at me that made me believe more firmly in what I know and yet shake the foundations of everything I’ve known. It makes me reject common phrases like Villain and Hero, and Good and Evil. This book is the best thing I’ve discovered in two years.

I very much loved this book. I felt awful for Jack through most of it as he struggled with both his infection and the fact that few people actually trusted him anymore. I’m glad he had some people on his side as he faced the final battle. I love the family he made for himself. If the author chose to write any more adventures for Jack Blank, I would definitely read them.
Been looking forward to reading this book for the longest time. Once I did, read it start to finish in two sittings. Wonderful experience and wish there was a continuation. I'd be the first reader of that book
Wow my head is still reeling. What an extraordinary way to wrap up a series. this is one of thees great quick read . If you haven't read about Jack Blank then you need to . great hero great action great fun . Lots of twist and turns and even some surprises Well written great read
The End of Infinity was a much better book than the second, where Jack managed to act like keeping his secrets was more important than the lives of, well everyone. This whole series is an imaginative adventure that, despite being a child's book and Jack's slight character flaws, I was glad I read.
This book did a wonderful job of pulling everything together and giving us believable twists and turns. We all really loved this series. 4 stars, though, because the tension was a bit much for me at times, especially when the lies were being told about Jack and he couldn't do anything to explain.
An exciting end to a great series. A lot of series will have disappointing ends that don't match the rest of the books. But the end of the Jack Blank Adventure is just as great as the first two books. It had a bit of a twist ending which I really enjoyed.
It was soooo good!! What a way to end the trilogy! This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through, that’s why I finished it in a day. I loved this series and all the characters! I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good action story asked book. I LOVED IT SO MUCH!! ❤️😆🥳
