I had not read Ms. Amino prior to these stories. I have to admit I really liked the Stephen King one. All of them were good. I will look for more of her stories in the future.
This is a short book of five independent stories. It only took me about an hour to read them all. The title suggests they are funny but I would describe them as cute.
The first is about a bumbling guardian angel. It tells how sometimes when bad things happen it can be a blessing in disguise.
The second doesn't tell you much at all. It was about a sex therapist. It didn't seem to have any point and no real story.
The third was about an idiot genie. This one was pretty good. I liked learning why he was inept.
The fourth was a little weird. A drive-thru funeral parlour? Not that I couldn't picture one...I've been to Vegas
The fifth was about the god Venus vacationing on earth with her son Cupid. I think it had more of an actual storyline than any of the others.
What a fun set of five short stories! The author writes with a touch of humor that really makes you smile. I am not sure that I can pick a favorite, although I really enjoyed "Genie School Dropout." What a hoot! So glad that they finally figured out what was wrong with the poor Genie. I also thought "Stephen King Kills His Darlings" was fantastic. The story is about a funeral director who gets an odd request from none other than Stephen King himself. And what he finds is a love of reading - and what is better than that? Truly, this is a great set of stories and worth the read.
I have to say the last book was my favorite because I could relate to the main character more than anything. I wish each of the stories went into a little more depth though. The author has a good since of writing and I cannot wait to read one of her other books I got, this one just didn't hold my interest to much. But that is just me! You could be different!
If you do not set your standards very high, you might enjoy this book. There's nothing really funny here, some stories are somewhat amusing, but everything is pretty pedestrian. The one about Stephen King starts with a quirky idea but goes nowhere. All in all a quick read that feels like a quick write as well.
A collection of entertaining short stories. I think my favourites were Stephen King Kills His Darlings - or why a horror author should never decide to write cartoons; and the title story, about an apparently useless guardian angel.
There is an art to the short story that obviously this author has mastered. These stories each pack a punch, and I'm glad took the time to read this collection.
This is a small collection of short stories and while a couple were pretty cute, they all made interesting points. I enjoyed reading although I'm not fond of the short story format.
Very good assortment of short stories. My first direct experience of this author, though I have one of her books waiting in the wings to be read. It's just moved up a notch or two on the priority list. I enjoyed these shorts! And I love the title.
These short stories highlight some of the supernatural in an amusing and poignant manner. This was an enjoyable read for me and I hope others find it enjoyable as well.
Some of the short stories were entertaining and funny but others seemed incomplete or lacking a point. It was a quick read and the stories I did enjoy I would recommend.
