Harmony…

I’ve previously had that in my life, but only once, briefly, a while ago. It was during the time I’d started my first year of college. My own apartment, a new old car, and a life free of deadbeat stepfathers, all of which was fulfilling enough. But if it wasn’t, I also had a best friend, soul mate, and boyfriend all in one. Yes, life was near perfect.

But one stormy night can change everything…

For many months I rested in a prolonged sleep, fighting for my life. Well, more than fighting for it, also dreaming of it. Dreaming of him. Thank goodness, the dream is over and I’m back in the real world now. And all I want is for everything to return to the way it was. But nothing’s the same; most of all, us.

Once again, I find myself at the crossroads of a ruthless battle, this time not for life, but love. Do I fight for the guy I twice fell for, or do I let her take him away?

Heather woke from her coma but now everything is different. Almost three years have passed and her boyfriend is now engaged. She is going back to college but finding it difficult to move on when she feels like she just fell in love. During her coma she relived her first six months of college and falling in love with Nick. She doesn't want to give him up. Does she move on or fight for a taken man?

Heather was lucky enough to have Creed with her every step of the way. Creed visited Heather in the hospital every single day while she was in her coma and got her a place to live once she came out of it. He was the greatest friend any one could have. I was partly rooting for Heather to move on and be with Creed. Creed dropped hints that he wanted more and they really understood each other. All the times Creed was there for Heather was real love but maybe only in friendship. No matter what happened I knew they would stay friends. Since Nick was now engaged I was really unsure which way things would go.

Nick is a good guy and really wants to keep his word. He had a long history explaining why that was so important to him. Keeping a promise is important but not at the cost of hurting everyone anyway in the end. I grew to like him a bit more in this book. In the first book I felt like Heather thought of him as too perfect. I wanted Heather to be happy but at the same time I did think it was wrong to keep pushing Nick when he was engaged. While Heather feels like they were just together it has been three years for Nick. I wanted Nick and Heather to really face up to what happened and have a good talk about it but they avoided it for a long time. They would just mention little things here and there and that kind of drove me nuts.

I felt this book was even more emotional than the first. The first was so much about falling in love and this one was all about love, friendship, moving on, and doing what is best for the person you love. Heather did what was right in her heart but also knew that she could let go if that was what was best for Nick. As a fan of happy endings I think everything worked out really well. But I also wouldn't have minded it go either way and for a while I was really unsure how it would end. Heather had great friends and would have found happiness no matter what happened. A really beautiful and emotional story that had me tearing up and thinking about love in different ways.

---
"But it was a hobby from so long ago. Three years ago. Could there be pleasure in that again? Could there be happiness within a lonely little sphere, without the man who once made it so happy? Knowing what companionship felt like, was it possible to go back to being alone? And feel any level of contentment? That's the problem with being in love; if your heart's been there, it wants to go back."

"I don't know what I'd do without you."
"You don't have to think about that. I'll always be here." And their arms latched together.
Yes, he would be. Because she couldn't imagine life without him.

What to say about Reaction..... Well it is totally EPIC! I have never ever read a love story that has torn me up. I laughed and I cried and I screamed at the book because there was so much raw emotions in it. The author has done a great job ending this series and I have to say at times I did not think there was going to be a happily ever after. For most books I don't care either way but this book pulled on my heart and I wanted no I needed Heather and Nick to be together. They had suffered through so much in Reflection that I was rooting for them all the way.

Heather has woken up from her coma and she is ready to start her life where she left it off. All she remembers is she was a freshmen in college had her first apartment and a car and her boyfriend Nick was the greatest guy known to man. Well three years later when she wakes from the coma she realizes that Nick has moved on and is now engaged to a girl and getting married soon. The only people she has left are Liz and Creed. The three of them were always together like the three musketeers. So much so that Creed took care of Heather for the three years she was in a coma. He stood by her side and never left her.

So when Heather is told that Nick has moved on she wants to see it for herself. When she does she gets sad and Creed and Liz are there for her and help her comes to terms with what has happened. When Heather talks to Nick she knows that she still loves him and no one will ever take his place. She wants to be with him so bad it hurts but she realizes that Creed is right she needs to move on. She tries but the heart wants what it wants and Heather is not going to give up on Nick without a fight.

What happens is in incredible story. I swear Jessica Roberts has a way of telling the story that my heart broke each time I read something sad and every time Heather told herself to stop loving Nick because he had moved on I cried like a crazy women. This is a must read series about true love and how love does heal all wounds.

As seen on Ed and Em's Reviews!

This review will have some spoilers from the first book.

Reaction is the second and final(?) novel in the Reflection series. I really enjoyed the first book and was curious about how things would resolve in this one. Plus, I'm a little obsessed with these covers! I mean, talk about gorgeous!

Reaction is a wonderful addition to this series. In fact, I'd say I enjoyed it even more than the first part of this story. I finished it in mere hours because I JUST. HAD. TO. KNOW. It kept me on edge from beginning to end. Though I was praying for a happy ending, it was touch-and-go for quite a while.

Heather has woken up from her coma and is ready to get back into life. She wants to go back to school, meet up again with her friends, rekindle her romance with Nick and just get back to the way things were before the accident. What she doesn't expect is Nick to be engaged to another woman. She also doesn't expect her mind to still be foggy and giving her even more problems. Reaction is a story about growing up and finding yourself through your struggles.

I love the angst and drama in this novel. It was just what I needed at the time! The author, Jessica Roberts, brings back characters that we loved in the first back and adds some new ones. She gives us characters to root for and a character that we can't stand. I really loved having someone to feel anger towards because come on, that girl is not nice. Heather and Nick were the two that I rooted for, but in Reaction, Heather comes to realize that Nick is not her only option. She may want him with her whole heart, but if his feelings aren't the same, she can still exist. When they are separated, she does things that she really needed to do on her own. There was a major confrontation that didn't even involve Nick and I was actually proud of Heather for handling it on her own. I really loved that part. It showed that Heather could be her own person. Liz and Creed are back in this story. I still want to steal them to be my own best friends. They care so much for Heather and only want what is best for her. It's obvious in all of their interactions. Ms. Roberts gives us characters that are so easy to relate to.

There were parts I didn't like though. There were several formatting errors in the finished copy. Those were distracting and it confused me at times because I couldn't tell who was speaking at certain points. I had to reread a few sections just to make sure I was getting the correct message. There were also some seriously awkward point-of-view changes. For every flashback, the author changed first-person perspective to third-person. While that is affective in showing that there is a flashback, it didn't read well. Especially when the switches didn't transition smoothly. Besides that, there were a few grammatical issues and some of the phrasing was just… off. It didn't read as well as the author had tried to write it.

The only other thing that gave me trouble was within the plot. Heather's reactions to things and how unreal some aspects of the novel were turned me off a bit. Things that are obvious weren't figured out until the end. Or she didn't even ask questions about things she should've known while she was in the hospital. It was very frustrating because that is when it started to feel fake. Besides those points, it is a very real story. It's gritty and sad and will break your heart, but slowly put it back together again.

I wish we could get a snippet of Heather's future. There are so many things I want to know! I can't even tell you the things that I want to know because they are all spoilers! So you know what you should do? You should go buy this book, read it and then come talk to me about it. Yes? Yes. Romance fans will really enjoy this book and this series. It's definitely for teens, but I wouldn't go so far as to classify it as a new adult. Either way, it will leave the audience swooning and sighing. Definitely worth a pick up!

I received a free e-copy of this novel for a blog tour in exchange for my honest review.

My original review for this title can be found HERE on The Book Hookup.

**NOTE:** An e-ARC of this novel was provided by the author for this blog tour. However, that did not influence this review in any way.

Basically, I don’t even know where to begin with this review, so forgive me if it’s one hundred percent gushing with a good bit of vagueness thrown in for good measure. It’s no secret that I absolutely loved the first book because Nick is mine, but I was an absolute bundle of nerves with how it left off and where I knew this story was heading because of the teaser first chapter we were given of Reaction. With that said, I knew I was in for a roller-coaster ride, but since I’m a bit of an angst-indulging masochist, I was ready to dive in and wallow in the expected heartclenches. I settled in my bed with my Nook, hoping I’d get a little reading in before I fell fast asleep. Well, when I finished this morning around 4:29AM (Omg, I’m such a zombie now!), I continued to sit there with this ridiculous, giddy grin on my face; still stunned by the depth of the beautiful novel I just read.

To keep this review as relatively spoiler-free as possible, I won’t be able to go into detail about all the aspects of the novel that I loved (and there are a LOT of them), but I can offer a few reasons as to why you should be reading this series. One simple fact is that Jessica Roberts effortlessly captures the complexity of emotions so well in her writing. My “feels”– for the lack of a better word that doesn’t sound redundant– ran the gamut with this series, but especially with this book in particular. As Heather navigates and adjusts to her new life, you will laugh, cry, and laugh while you cry as you experience the confusion, anger, happiness, frustration, and heartbreak right alongside our leading lady. Secondly, all the characters, from the main characters all the way down to the lesser mentioned secondary characters, have been fleshed out and feel so undeniably real. Each have their individual personality traits and mannerisms that feel innately tied to their character, and not only that, but they also have a voice that is so unique to them. Lastly, but certainly not least, is the amount of swoons. It was so incredibly difficult for me not to quote the entire book in my goodreads updates. Heather’s memories of the relationship she and Nick shared had my heart racing and jumping in my throat while my stomach somersaulted and filled with butterflies.

Read this story! You’ll be missing out if you don’t. Now, I’ll just leave the following quote as a little teaser. Enjoy!

“Can you tell me why,” he breathed into her neck, “when I’m holding you like this,” he drew her closer, wrapping her snuggly against him, “and I’m kissing you like this,” he devoured the tender spot along her jaw, brazenly making his way to the corner of her lips, “it’s still never enough?”

Oh my goodness, first let me say, it was just wonderful to come back to Heather's and Nick's story because I remember reading Reflection, and towards the end, there are just so much realizations on Heather's part because she realizes that she has been in a Coma for almost three years, and her boyfriend, the love of her life, had no idea she was in a Coma, and thought of some silly theory that she ran away to get married to Heather's best friend, Creed. Oh. My. Word. Really? Well, because of that theory, Nick was actually deeply hurt and heartbroken and it wasn't an easy three years without Heather, but in that last year, he ended up meeting a nice girl (he thinks) and actually proposed to Paige, (NO!!) Yeah, so you can just imagine how Heather feels when she wakes up and weeks later, learns about this, and she is just shocked that Nick would move on like that, and as Heather is going back to College, trying to go back to the way things were, it's just hard, because Nick's not there with her...he's with Paige and it's hurting Heather so much, and now as she continues to live her life, does she let Nick back in? Or does she let him go...forever.

This was phenomenal! I loved Reflection and Reaction was just as wonderful. Instead of Heather recalling memories, she is now living her life again, with some memories here and there, that pop up in her mind. I felt there was strong character development with Heather, and especially Nick. I was just amazed on how much emotion/feeling he shows Heather. At times it's just beautiful and then other times I just wanted to smack his arm, because in ways, Nick took a hard toll when he 'thought' Heather had deserted their relationship and Heather is just like 'Whoa, I was unconscious for almost three years, geez!!" Well that's what I felt anyway when reading their scenes together ;) Anyway, I felt there was a great flow, and reading from Heather's POV was really nice and I felt for her, all the time, because she starts out as who she was when she was 18, but as the story goes she matures to the 21-22 year old she is and gains remarkable strength, and it was great reading how she does that.

Now, I don't want to say too much, because I feel you have to read this, to just grasp the beautiful writing, the incredible story, and just so much more. Jessica Roberts is one truly amazing Author and it's just been awesome reading her first two novels, so you can say I'm a big fan of hers now, and look forward to her next story! :)

In the beginning, I felt like this sequel didn't get a grip on the mood of the first book all that well. But, it got better as the story processed, and once it was revealed what Heather's reaction actually was (and it was a good one, believe me! Sort of predicatble, but not if you didn't really wanted it to be), the atmosphere fell back into place perfectly and was quite like in Reflection. Thus, the arc of suspense was quite well developed, just as in the first book, a job well done.

As for the story, I have to say it was bouncing back and forth a lot, quite like in the first book as well, but here it only made half the sense, and got a little annoying at one point or another. Up to the point where one blow was dealt after another, and it got very, very emotional once again. And yet, even maybe a little exaggerated at some points, it was all so... normal and pretty realistic. Such mundane problems, and how all the characters got connected in a surprising way. Sometimes Fortuna has a weird sort of humor, seriously.

Then, I really don't know how Heather pushed through like this, she was indeed a great character. They were all great. I had the feeling that there was a little more light shone unto the always unapproachable Nick, at least in the very end. And although I can understand if many would still frown over him, I couldn't help but like him overall. He gave this "dark, tall, handsome, mysterious" not a new definition, but I have to say I acutally extremely liked that he stayed mysterious throughout, unlike many other of his spicemen nowadays.

You know, I could totally see Heather chose Creed instead, if she had the time to get over Nick properly. She would've worked through all of this one way or another, but I'm still glad it worked out like it did. This couple, although free of anything paranormal-destiny related, was truly meant for one another, no doubt about it. And since there are many endings out there, authors have to get really creative to come up with something new, or have to be really, really skillful to give a classic just the right feeling and angle. I can let you know that I really, really liked this ending. Well, before the epilogue it was the most awesome, but I didn't mind the little extra glimpse ahead.

Area Scan: Style: 3.5/5 -- Plot: 4/5 -- Characters: 5/5 -- Suspense: 4/5 -- Romance: 5/5 -- Drama: 5/5 -- Humor: 4/5

I absolutely loved this sequel to Reflection by Jessica Roberts because my heart was wondering what will happen between Nick and Heather! This book was unputdownable because I really loved the first novel Reflection. In Reaction, Roberts put the reader in suspense in wondering if Heather will have her happy ending after what happened at the end of Reflection!. I could talk about how much I loved this book and the characters all day! There were some tears along the way.

I love all the character development of each of the characters Roberts made to each in the series, Heather was the one who had to face what happen you her at the same time move on with her life after Reflection. The chemistry between Heather and Nick was through the roof! There was lots of tension as well as unresolved issues between the couple. But I was rooting for these two!! He did frustrate me at time but I still loved by the end !! *Swoon Nick* We got to see more of Creed and how he made me love him and his personality. This is one great series because the plot is well developed and the characters will make you love them. I definitely recommend this series and I look forward to many more amazing books from Jessica Roberts!

Reaction is one amazing finale that you want to scream and shout how awesome the series is! Heather has a great story to tell and I hope everyone gets to read her story! Thank you Jessica Roberts for creating these characters whom many readers love and the romance that will always be in our minds. These books are definitely re-reading material since I will read them again!! This series is a MUST read!!

The first thing I have to say about Reaction is that if you haven't read Reflection first, do it. I'm sure you could figure out pretty quickly what was going on, but the emotional impact is so much more knowing what Heather has gone through.

Reaction picks up only weeks after Reflection ended, jumping right into Heather's life as she leaves the hospital and giving us drama right away. I love happy endings and while Reflection didn't exactly give us that, Reaction starts off with the slightest hint of hope. Heather has learned that the boy she has been dreaming of while in a coma for years has moved on with his life. I actually liked that Nick hadn't spent years just sitting around pining after her, although it does become obvious that he's never gotten over her completely even though he thought she had run off to marry someone else.

Reaction is a very melodramatic book, in the best way possible. Yes, there are parts where I was rolling my eyes at the frequent disagreements and the all-too-convenient run ins Nick and Heather have, but those were also those moments where I was hoping that and thinking "this is the moment", and then feeling the disappointment each time it wasn't. It's exactly the type of drama I love in my romance novels.

I definitely recommend the Reflection series to those who love romances that constantly have you alternating between crying and smiling.

I didn't like this sequel as much as the first one. I suppose it's because cheating is always a difficult subject, and if you don't handle it well, it's all sorts of awkward and unromantic.

I love that Heather doesn't beat around the bush. I was worried that this book would contain a lot of that. Fortunately, she says what she's thinking and kicks the misunderstandings out the window. I love how she doesn't have any airs.
Nick really has changed. Instead of being a silent farmboy without much to say, he's now a sophisticated and condescending gentleman. Bleh. I hated the way he behaved and how it was all sort of excused because out of nowhere his father's words come back to haunt him. It felt inconsistent with his character. The whole time he hasn't really cared what his father thought...I just thought it was a bit rushed and left-wing.
On a happier note, Liz's faithfulness was hilarious. When Heather's in pain, Liz just jumps on the bandwagon and agrees with everything she says.
I'm glad Nick and Heather get their HEA but I think it could've been done a bit more smoother and gentler for all involved. Sure, love is messy, but in fiction, let's try and keep it a bit more tidier.

I thought this book was well written. It was a very easy read, a love story that I think any teen/college age girl would love, or older women like me who just likes an easy fun love story. The main character, Heather, suffers and accident and is in a coma for 2 1/2 years, when she comes out of it she finds out her boyfriend in college thought she just left without saying goodbye, didn't know she had been in a coma this whole time. He is now engaged and she still loves him, as apparantly he does too. Her long time friend who was by her side the entire time also loves her, but she doesn't feel that kind of love for him. The title of the book "reaction" is a symptom of her type of coma, where she may have some feelings or memories that were never real, or are not real but because of the coma her brain does not register between a dream or reality. There was only one instance of this "reaction" occuring in the book, I kept thinking there would be more of a surprise to this symptom, more of the problem of determining reality from dreams, but there wasn't. In the end she gets the guy back and her long time friend finds love with her best friend. Not too exciting, but a happy ending.

I really loved this book. Its a must read but not as a stand alone. The series as a whole is such a beautiful story. It was a very emotional read. i had already cried by 8%. I loved Heather and Nick as well as Creed and Liv. Liv really stood out to me in this book. This is such an interesting story and this book is alot less confusing then the first. My stomach was in knots most of the book though because I was nervous as to what and how much of the story was the "reaction". The epilogues was one of my favorites. Great read!

Reflection #2: Reaction by Jessica Roberts is an emotionally charged young adult romance that dives deep into the complexities of love, loss, and personal growth. The story follows a protagonist who, after a life altering event, must navigate the turbulent waters of love, loyalty, and identity.

Roberts captures the intensity of first love, heartbreak, and the struggle to reclaim harmony after trauma. The novel balances tender emotional moments with relatable conflicts, making it resonate strongly with readers who appreciate heartfelt storytelling and character driven romance. With themes of resilience, choice, and self discovery, this sequel deepens the emotional stakes established in the first installment and keeps readers fully invested in the characters’ journeys.

Read the review in my blog!

May contain some spoilers
I read the first book, Reflection, for a blog tour (read the review here!), and guess what happened after I was finished?
Like a good little stalker blogger I started stalking the author visited author's homepage and sent her a review request for the second book. I think it was 9 pm, and I should've went to bed, since I had to work next morning, but of course I was glued to my computer, hitting F5 over and over again. And then!, the author replied to my message AND sent me the second book! Which I started devouring right away and missed my good night sleep.

Anyhow, the first book ended with a huge cliffhanger (with the new girl and stuff, read the first book), and like the cover says, the dream is over and reality begins. Heather is released from the hospital and it's time to go on with the life. But how can you do that, when your boyfriend is engaged to someone else and you have no idea what to do with your life?

Luckily, Heather has Creed by her side all the way through. He was by her side the whole time she was in coma, and he even gets her a new place to live in. And it's obvious Creed wants more than just to be friends (especially when there's some lip contact going on), and I definitely would've have wanted to see more of that! Creed is always there for her, but she just doesn't like him that way. Darn! Definitely wanted more for these two!

Then there's Nick. Like said, he's now engaged to someone else and seems quite happy with his life. Then there's ups and downs, and guess how everything end?
Of course it's pretty obvious how things end, but I just wished there was more emotional turmoil, so to speak. More cat fights, heat, you name it! Paige, Nick's bride to be, definitely should've been more active and fight for her guy. And Heather should've done the same, because that's entertainment!
Not talking Jerry Springer- kind of stuff, but a little more drama and action would've been nice.

Aaaand there was one part I just so did not like. Just bugged the hell out of me:

After an unknown length of time, we were still cuddled on his bed, my lips swollen from his ministrations. Beats me how our clothes were still mostly in place with the hunger and lust and deeply moving love that accompanied our tumble in his bed.
My virtue hung on a thread but it was still intact, as much as we pushed the limits. It would stay that way until I was legally and completely his. As contradicting as it may have seemed, it was a matter of our love and admiration for each other. He saw my innocence as beautiful and perfect, and he would take it with his promise to me. I saw his promises to love and cherish me forever as beautiful and perfect, and I would give him my innocence then, happily—and very enthusiastically…. The ambience in the little shed lent itself to magic and tenderness.

Holy shit, that's just.. bull. Both of these people are over 20 years old, there's really no need to lecture.

Overall, almost as enjoyable as the first book, that whole mini-lecture just bugged me so much, I just wanted to forget the whole book. Which is crazy, but what can you do?

I was soooooo excited to start Reaction by Jessica Roberts. I said it my review of Reflection, and I’ll say it again…I love the story of Heather and Nick. The story in Reaction kept my emotions right on the surface, with tears constantly sitting in my eyes blurring my reading experience, and embedded itself into my heart. If you thought Reflection was an unforgettable story, what you will find in Reaction will blow you away.

Basically starting right where Reflection left off, we witness the jerky attitude of Nick, when Heather comes out of her coma thinking that their true love was still just that…true. But Nick went ahead and ripped her out and pretty much tells her he doesn’t love her anymore, that things have changed, and to basically go away and leave him alone. Ohhh the heart ache! I’m sure those of you who have read Reflection are pretty anxious to find out how he could be such a douche to a girl who just came out of a coma due to no fault of her own.

Heather attempts to try and get her life back on track. Go back to college, make amends with her friends, and possible salvage what she and Nick had. But when Heather goes to confront him at his home out in the country with his aunt and uncle, it’s not the welcome she was hoping for. Nick is engaged to another. I don’t think I’m spoiling anything for you with that bit of news as you find it out pretty early in the book.

As you continue to read, you witness a lot of the bits of information from her accident, to her dreams while in a coma, to the people who are part of this story, come full circle. Little pieces of the puzzle come together to form this whole new twist in this story of Heather and Nick. And can I just say that I love her friends? The way in which they supported Heather during her time of heartbreak? To try to make light of the situation she is in? The way in which they helped Heather get her “fierce” on in hopes of grabbing Nicks attention? Sing with me “They’re the three best friends that anyone could have! They’re the three best friends that anyone could have!”…

Like in Reflection, Reaction had me on my seat the entire read. I needed to know if Heather and Nick would finally be together, or if it was too late for them. It broke my heart every time Heather put her heart out there for Nick to see, and just see if get crushed time after time. I’ll be honest with you. I heart Nick. Like, literally heart him! But there were moments in this book where I said through unshed tears “Stop being a jerk, you jerk! It’s not her fault that she was in a come! Give her some benefit of the doubt you jack nut! Arghhhhh!” Truer words were never said.

Author, Jessica Roberts, does what she does best. Grab the attention and heart of the reader, and take them on an unforgettable rollercoaster ride of emotions. One minute I was sad, the next I’m laughing, then I’m anxious, and back to sad.

In Reaction, we get to see more of the real side of Heather, and why I love her character. Her ability to roll with the punches, to never stop believing, how she can be strong when her world is shattering all around her. Such a beautiful role model for girls everywhere.

What did I learn in this book? Never give up hope when it comes to true love. Grab it, hold on to it, and should it not end how you wished it would, it is a story worth remembering. Now run! Grab your copy and find out what happens with Nick and Heather. Do eeeet!

I read Reflection this week for this blog tour, and I loved it! So I was very happy to be able to dig into the final book in this duology (I think...). This series offers a very unique aspect on what it feels like, to fight for love.
Minor spoilers if you have not read the first book in the series, Reflection (find my review here).
Heather has finished her stay in the hospital. After almost three years, she has finally woken up from the coma, and is ready to step back into the world. But without Nick by her side, it is not so easy anymore. Although there is Creed, her life-long friend, and Liz, her college friend; who offer the best of support and encouragement.
While Heather tries to go back intro her old routine, she can't help but feel terribly jealous of the new girl Nick is dating. And by taking Liz's advice, she decides to try to steal him back. But trying to convince Nick, is not so easy. Horrible plans lead to more horrible consequences. And Heather might not be able to pay the price this time, when she is not even sure if all she sees is real.
Will Heather ever be able to be her old self? Will she be able to make Nick fall in love with her, again; or will she let her take him away? Find out much more when you read this emotional, heart-wrenching tale of a love, that will fight the borders of time.
I LOVE this book. In the first book, we get to experience everything in Heather's life through her coma state. In this one, she is out in the world and trying to cope through the ups and downs. I loved Heather and Nick in Reflection, but in Reaction, I loved them even more.. Heather is the perfect voice to tell a story, a voice that is clear and haunting.

"A lot happens in three years. Your best friend grows six inches, engagements, your other best friend’s hair grows six inches, engagements, and your favorite grandma’s body shuts down from a little cold gone bad."

LOVE this quote! Although Creed was always in the background in Reflection, we get more of him in Reaction. And I have to say, that I love him. He is the older brother I would never have. Liz is also a wonderful secondary character, her support to Heather was touching, she is an amazing best friend. Jessica Roberts is a terrific writer, and I can't wait to read more of her books!
One of my favorite romantic reads of 2012! This book is memorable, and it will stay with me for a LOT of time. I am trying to convince you to read this book throughout the whole review. So you better decide too read it! And while you are here, try checking out my favorite "swoony" quotes:

"I surrendered, my body relaxed to him, opened to him, reveling in more than the sweet sensation of his lips on my skin. I gave him my secrets, my hidden places, allowing him to know me again, all of me. And at that moment, all of the serenity from every ocean shoreline, from every flowered hillside, from every peach sunset was mine."

"He lowered his mouth to my lips, and his kiss was so tender and so thorough that I drifted away, like a leaf to the cool wind. "

"The sound of our lips coming together and parting was natural and raw, but natural and raw was just right for us. He kissed me like he’d been holding in three years of unrestrained kisses, and we went at it with a passionate tenderness that could have lit all of St. Louis on fire."

Reaction picks up right where Reflection left off. After waking from a coma, Heather realized everyone and everything has changed. When she left the hospital, she had to go out and try to get her life back. Everything came back to her easily. She went and registered for classes again, went to talk to her old boss, and even went to see Liz. The only person that didn't come back to her was Nick. Heather finds out Nick is engaged and getting married in December. Will Heather fight to get Nick back or will she let him go to find true happiness? Is she capable of selfless love?

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book. It was just as good as the first one. I am already wanting to reread it again, especially my favorite parts. It just blew me away. I was captivated from the very first chapter. I couldn't put it down so I read it in a day. The story is beautifully written. I felt like I was right there with the characters rooting them all on. I laughed, cried, was even jumping up and down. The book as AMAZING!!!! The book was just well thought out and well written. I was able to relate with each and everyone of the characters. I loved all the characters in this story. I could see them being my friends if they really existed. I love watching characters grow throughout books, and character development in this series was well written and well thought out.

I loved Heather as a character. After waking from a # year coma, she does whatever she can to get her life back. She fights for the one she truly loves, Nick. Her love has truly grown for him, because she dreamed about Nick while she was in her coma. He is what kept her fighting for her life. Julia has an internal battle going on. Does she fight for the one person she can't live without, or does she let him go if he is really happy? The decision she makes is very admirable. She is such a strong character.

Nick is my favorite character in this series. I would marry that man myself so I don't blame her. He keeps her at arms length though in this one. He basically tells her there is no chance for them and he is definitely getting married. But the thing is, he can't seem to quit thinking about her, or finding ways to see her. She is making him feel again. It was hard watching him struggle as well. He was really trying to do what was right.

I also loved Creed and Liz as well. These two are true friends. Creed was there everyday with her while she was in a coma. He never missed a day. He always protected her no matter what. He was her only family.. Liz was a great listener. Heather could go to her and talk about anything. Liz also helped her fight for Nick ans stuck up for her when snide comments were made by Paige. I was definitely happy that both these characters got their happy ending as well.

This book tool me on am emotional roller coaster ride. It is a heart-wrenching love story that I recommend to everyone!!! It is one that I will definitely be rereading and continue to reread. I truly loved it!!! It was a great end to the series, but I am hoping we get to see more of these characters down the road.

Christina's Review:

I love a good love story and one the stems from friendship and those that you truly have to fight for, are always the best ones, because truly, all great loves should come from great friendship and nothing worth fighting for should ever be easy.

I fell in love with Roberts' writing after reading the first book in this duology, Reflection. The writing and story was just beautiful and so lyrical that it completely captivated me. The ending left me reeling and sadly feeling at a loss as to what to read next. I didn't want another book, I wanted Reaction the sequel to Reflection and I knew it was going to be a long wait. I knew it was going to be awhile before I could pick up another book and devote my whole attention to it and not still have my thoughts wandering back to Nick and Heather's story, to what their great love would be in the end. Would love prevail? Would they both get their happily ever after? These questions quite frankly haunted me and I was scared for their fate.

So yeah, I was a little nervous going into this one. I wanted them to be together and whole and have that happily ever after that I so desperately wanted and needed them to have. I had my doubts that they would get it and it wasn't even obvious from the first few chapters if they would. There was no clear path for them to find their way back to each other and that scared me even more because love has to prevail, it just does. My world wouldn't be right if it didn't.

When I opened this I planned on just reading a few chapters because I just needed to know what happened next. I needed to see some glimmer of hope for Nick and Heather, something that would let me know that they would be okay in the end, whether they ended up with each other or not. I should have known that I wouldn't be able to just read a few chapters. I should have known that I would have to go for it, all or nothing and that is exactly what I ended up doing. I choose going for it, I choose going for all and reading until I couldn't possibly read anymore or until the story was over.

So, I sat here and I read straight through bedtime, straight through when I should have been snuggled into bed and resting peacefully right into the very early hours of the morning. I couldn't help it, time seemed to stop and I think I held my breath almost the whole way through waiting anxiously to see what would happen. Too see if I would get that ending I so wanted for them and I have to say, Roberts kept me on the edge of my seat. It wasn't ever perfectly clear one way or the other and even though it was torture at the time, I loved it. I really did.

This, once again, was so wonderfully done. So wonderfully told and by the end my heart was full and brimming with happiness at how the author brought it all together and gave them all closure.

All I have to really say is, well done Ms. Roberts and thank you for a beautiful story.

AMAZING, TEAR-JERKING, AWE-INSPIRING-ROMANCE!!

The love story between Nick and Heather couldn't feel more real or in this case lack there of. The premise seems totally real and really imaginative. I don't know if I could stand to be in Heather's shoes as she wakes up from her coma. I don't even know if I could attempt to be as strong as her when it comes to matters of the heart. I was so very pleased with the ending of the story too! I was so emotionally attached to this story, I didn't want it to end, but the ending was so perfect that I didn't have a huge book depression after it was over.

Cover/ Writing Style
I like the cover of Reaction, however I liked the Reflection cover a little better. Plus the model looks kinda young for my idea of Heather. The thing I really like about Jessica Roberts' writing is how she mixes first and third person POV. It can be hard to differentiate between dream/memory state and real life, so I think her decision to mix the two was perfect. Also, the third person was done so well, that I could relate to Heather while still getting glimpses of the other characters.

Swoonworthy Points: 9
Both books were super swoony to me. Yeah, there were lots of hot kissing scenes, but I really loved how the story made you fall in/out of love. I loved how much my heart ached but also how much it was healed. Here's a swoony scene for you:

Before I had another coherent thought, his mouth descended on mine like a leisure cloud on a sunny day. His lips were soft and pressed warmly against mine.

Bonus points
This series has one of my top ten book boyfriends in it.. which is why Reaction earns itself some bonus points. I love Nick!!! He is a great guy who is loyal to a fault. He doesn't want to let anyone down. Lets not forget how freaking DELICIOUS he is.

...his short buzzed hair made his features nearly overwhelming. Three years, short hair, and a tailored black suit transformed him into a man. He looked severely handsome.

...Like always, He made every other guy around him seem weak and wanting.

...It wasn't the warm way he looked at me, suspicious and yet somehow devouring.

Summary
Three years with nothing but dreams of Nick, that's all Heather had the day she woke up from a 3 year coma. Nick had moved on. Heather was left trying to pick up the pieces of her life.. that is after she decided what was truly the real part of her life. But there is one thing she can't let go of, her undeniable love for Nick. She struggles to decide if she wants to do whats right and let go, or risk heartache chasing after him.

I really-really-realllly loved this book duo and would highly recommend it!

After really loving Reflection, I was so eager to read more. The cliffhanger at the end of the first book drove me crazy, so I was super excited to be able to participate in this blog tour.
And guys, you have to read this second book.

I’m being honest when I say that I loved Reaction even more than I loved Reflection. Heather has finally awoken from her coma, and she’s back in the real world now. But three years have passed since she’s talked with any of her friends (or him) and she has no idea how their lives have changed while hers has stayed the same.

Boy, have their lives changed.

She’s come into the picture, and it changes everything Heather and Nick ever had. Heather will have to choose between fighting for what she believes is still hers and letting him go. After all they’ve been through, after three years of dreaming about him, will she have to walk away?

If you read my review of Reflection, you’ll remember (or maybe you won’t…haha excuse my bad pun) that I thought the plot was a little slow. Not so with Reaction. I felt like it was more fast-paced, with more climaxes and twists than Reflection had. The romance was more intense, too. Love triangles usually have that effect. I felt I got to know Heather even more, as if her character was delved into more than it was in Reflection. We also get to see more vulnerability in Nick, which I loved.

There were a lot of instances of Heather remembering the time she had with Nick and all the things they did. I found myself thinking, “She knew the guy for only six months- they such must have spent a lot of time together.” That was really the only quirk I had with Reaction. Of course, it had its dorky moments (like the ending…gosh, I really didn’t like the closing scene), but they were minor irritants in this amazing love story. I hope you pick it up, as well as Reflection, because this is a book you don’t want to miss out on.

Quick Content Review: *may contain spoilers*
Language: None
Violence: None
Sexual: Mild-Moderate (Heather and Nick kiss a couple times, sometimes passionately; also some cuddling/fondling. Nothing explicit and no sex.)

This review first appeared as a tour stop on Moosubi Reviews!

Compared to its prequel, REFLECTION, REACTION definitely has a different feel to it. While the first book really developed Heather and Nick’s relationship, REACTION doesn’t start happily, but with a lot of raw emotion. Even though the two books were different, I definitely still enjoyed REACTION!

One of the best things about Jessica Roberts’ works is her ability to really connect me to her characters. There was a lot of emotion and realistic-ness in her writing, and I could definitely relate to Heather’s feelings. Throughout the novel, I definitely felt bad for her, and had a slight feeling of satisfaction whenever she made a cynical remark. The language was just so beautiful!

You also really get to see Heather’s relationships with some new people (Jerry, Bob, Doc, etc.) and some older relationships really develop (like Creed, Liz, etc.) It was amazing to see everyone support each other no matter what, and I admired the strength of their bonds. I especially liked her relationship with Creed and Liz as it developed into something more.

The plot also brings some surprising new developments, some very surprising but refreshing and intriguing, and some just so… beautiful (I’m not sure how else to describe it!) There’s one scene that Heather finally visits someone she hasn’t seen for such a long time, and their reunion is great!

As for Heather and Nick… they’re the type of people that fans of the series just want to get together again. I was always rooting for them, and there were moments where I literally screamed in my head, “Aaaawwww!” The eventual ending seemed a bit rushed, but still satisfying (:

Overall, REACTION was an emotion filled read, and a great sequel to Reflection! Some new characters are introduced, and the old are still well developed, and it truly is a beautiful story (: I recommend this book to fans of the first book, and to fans of contemporary romance!

Did I enjoy this book: This was a good sequel and conclusion to this series. It wasn't a book that I had to read every free chance I had. But it kept me engrossed enough to want to read through it in a short amount of time.

*This review will contain SPOILERS if you have not read Reflection. You have been warned.*

We have the same cast of characters as we met in Reflection. Heather is trying to find her way back into the world after waking from her long coma. She does experience a reaction which was very interesting and very unexpected. That little twist was nice. Nick is kind of in the picture but he is still angry and hurt and unsure as to what he should do especially since he now has Paige, his fiance. Creed and Liz are Heather's best friends. It was great to see Heather and Liz reconnect to quickly and easily. That's how true friends are...you can not speak to each other for years but pick up just where you left off.

Some of the situations, specifically the romantic ones, I found a bit unbelievable. Not because it couldn't happen, but because of their ages. Heather is only 21...she was 18 when she went into the coma. That seems awfully young to be so sure of someone else. And Nick is only 23 or 24, also young.

Reaction - and Reflection for that matter - is a great concept. Definitely a concept that I haven't read before. What would you do if you had to pick up where you left off even though everyone else's life kept moving forward?

Would I recommend it: If you read Reflection, then you should read Reaction. It is a good ending to that story.

Will I read it again: I will not.

Yes, this book was amazing too! This is the sequel to "Reflection"

This follow up takes us from the cliffhanger in the first book to a very satisfying end. We get a HEA in this and it could not have ended any other way. There was a few plotting issues here and some things that easily could have been left out but they were easy to get over.
What do you do when one person has moved on and you cannot? To Heather it was still a very new relationship but almost three years have passed for Nick. He was even more difficult to reach and at times, I thought he was unreachable. Thank the little baby Jesus he came around. He was so angry and sometimes very hurtful to Heather.
The writing was still fresh and evocative. Despite the small plotting discrepancies, this was a very satisfying read.

Now I am stuck trying to find something to read that will not bore me to death.

It was a good romance novel but fell short on the "reaction" plot . You keep waiting for something big [ coma related ] to keep happening but nothing earth shaking happens . The title of the book is a bit misleading as the entire book deals with Heather's relationship with Nick and his with Paige and then Heather's with Creed with a few doc visits in between.
All that being said , I loved how there was no overly bitchiness , cat fights that sort of things . Nick being responsible was one of the reasons I loved him even if it kept him away from Heather . Heather was a unique character and it was nice watching her grow along with her's and Nick's relationship although that happened towards the end .
Good conclusion to the series nonetheless .

Oh. My. God. It brought me back to the time I was reading Love Me with Lies series where the hurt was so deep I was screaming for the woman to cut him off from her life but still wants her to get the man.

I loved Heather, that she remained strong throughout. I admired her because she fought for him, and she remained strong after getting through much.

And that moment at the quad, oh my. I was like, "Oh shit! I knew it!". It was the point where I think, Nick was able to really have a glimpse of what she is struggling through after waking up from the coma. And it helped.

I did not like Nick, of course. But whatever, they were really right for each other. So, I just became happy for Heather and accepted him for her.

The wait for WORTH IT!

This sequel was everything that was worth it lived up to be. The passion, pain and love and not to forget patience made my heart ache at times.

After waking up from a coma 3 years later, Heather realizes things have changed. Time has passed and she has to adjust and when she the love of her life is engaged to someone else, it makes her recovering a more harder to adjust. Heather knew that the love with Nick was forever and the love she felt for him was real, not a 'reaction'. I admired Heather for not pushing Nick to break up with his fiance, but left it in his hands. She knew with patience even though it sucked, he would come back to her.

A good sequel. I knew the beginning wasn't going to be pleasant as Heather wakes up and everything has changed... but hoped it would turn out OK :-p

Heather wakes up from her coma and Nick did go on with his life without her (as did everyone).... So she has to face that a lot of things happened during her absence, and has to go on with her life!

I couldn't put the book down. Jessica Roberts writes here a really good story, I loved her characters and writing. Some parts were really frustrating, as I said why in the beginning, but the end was very good!

This book was freaking GOLDEN! What an emotional ride!
After the continuing right after the first one the emotions were raw, I didn't know what to expect next!
This book had me in knots, that's for sure! It was crazy, the tears never stopped coming especially during the first half of the book! I was crying my eyes out at 10AM in the morning for goodness sake!
Crap, I'm blabbing right now but who cares!
I like this better than the first one too, since the story telling wasn't as confusing.
This was priceless and the characters are just awesome and you can't help but root for them!
