Brenda Jernigan is a bestselling author. Her books have been nominated for
many awards - Book Seller’s Best Award, The Maggie Award, and The Holt
Medallion Award. Publisher’s Weekly said, “Brenda Jernigan writes Romance,
Adventure and Magic”

She grew up living the life of a tomboy – climbing trees, playing ball, and excluding starry-eyed romance from her daily repertoire. Brenda discovered the love of books while taking her son to Story Hour at the local library -- she was hooked. She set an ambitious goal and began work on her first novel. She continued to write six more novels in rapid succession. She figured having the same birthday as Ernest Hemingway couldn’t hurt.

Her books have been printed in several languages and her last book “Southern Seduction” written under the name of Alexandria Scott was printed in Russian.

This was just an okay book. It started out better than it ended. Writers should do legal research before putting courtroom legal issues in their books. First of all when you get sued you don't plead guilty or not guilty in court. So that was stupid. The end got a bit too cheesy for me.

I found this book discounted on Amazon
There is a lot of running away. A lot of lies on both sides too. Too many mistakes by the author too. I think the judge was not neutral for such a bad decision. I loved the premise of strangers to lovers. Many good and tender moments. I was confused why she didn't explain her non-engagement to Steven, instead of letting him think she was indeed engaged to someone else.

I downloaded this for free from amazon. This is a DNF. While the cover art is great, the story has promise, but it doesn't deliver. This book would be better with a different editor, one who disabled the ! button. In all the books I have read, and all the criticism I've dealt about books, I think this is the first time that I'm complaining abou the !. There is a serious over use of them.

The story's premise is great. The set up is grand and there was a twist that I wasn't expecting, the details are in the middle--not sparse, but not overwhelming. However, the point-of-view changes are lightning quick and hard to keep up with. This is one of those books that has a lot fo potential. There is noting I like better than the we're-stranded-together-and-have-nothing-better-to-do trope. But with the POV and ! problems, it just made this a story that was too bumpy to read. If these problems were fixed, it would be a 4-star story.
