I read this while on a business trip, so the plot interested me more because of my recent air travel. I really enjoyed this and feel it's a solid chick lit novel. All of the characters are unique, and Hailey's ups and downs kept me entertained. Though it was predictable and I knew the general direction where the story would go early on in the book, I still had fun reading it. Plus, it's nice how little brain power a nice, light read like this takes. ;)

1/100 for my Goodreads Reading Challenge.
For Popsugar's 2023 Reading Challenge, this was my entry for "A book about a vacation".

This book has been sitting on my shelf for quite some time so I thought I would give it a whirl, which was a great idea IMHO.. this book was so funny, clever, and endearing that I couldn't get enough. Sometimes it's nice to read about a person who just doesn't have it all together (which I can relate to) and who goes through trials and tribulations when it comes to love and work. Let's be real... who hasn't had a shitty boss or co-worker before? Who hasn't fallen for Prince(ss) Charming just for them to turn out to be a dud? Yet despite all that is thrown at her, MC Hailey remains hopeful and high-spirited which is something I aspire to. It is super easy to get down in the dumps about a situation when in the grand scheme of things, that situation is just a small blip on the radar of life.

4 stars and would HIGHLY recommend if you ever find it.

They say you should write what you know. Clearly Alyson Noel knows the life of a flight attendant. So many hilarious stories and situations that an ex-f/a myself, laughed myself silly. Stories and conversations from everything like, "you smell like the middle seat" to how f/a are always praying for delays unless they are deadheading home from a trip. Still, even those who know nothing of the business can totally relate and appreciate the story of friendship, heartache, discovering oneself, discovering new loves, and sifting through the rubbish relationships with the opposite sex. The book is great in its characterizations and witty, believable dialogue, and the many surprising, heartfelt, clever storylines. It ended all too quickly for me though-- in fact I was looking throught the last blank pages to make sure it really ended where it did because I just did not want it to end. And yet, you will never be able to get on a plane again without looking at the inflight crew and wonder... This is certainly a delightful read. Some may call it chick lit, as if that is a crime! A great travel companion -- or rainy day escape!

Cute book, but nothing special. The author went a little overboard with the flight attendant lingo, as if she wanted the reader to be SURE they know that she was an insider and knows all the inside jokes and terminology. The story is your typical "twentysomething white girl has romantic crisis, set off on journey of self-discovery, meets guys along the way and eventually finds the right one while fulfilling all her dreams." I had to roll my eyes a bit at the fact that EVERY guy she meets just happens to be devastatingly handsome AND ridiculously wealthy (yet somehow completely taken with an ordinary-to-pretty girl). And the main character is clearly a thinly veiled version of the author herself (flight attendant who wants to be a writer!). There's nothing here that will keep you up late at night, desperate to find out what happens next, but it's a perfectly serviceable beach read and will pass the time on that flight just fine.

It's easy to read Alyson Noel, because she writes as though she were really talking to you. You will laugh and gasp at this book. She is clever and witty and knows how to spin a story. This story is a must read for any woman. It takes you into the career of a flight attendant, cleverly put together, and humorously walks you through her disastrous dating stories.

I enjoyed this book and would recommend it for the adventurous lady. I found myself wanting to take lots of exotic trips and get away from life and reality. Isn't that what a book should do?

Flight attendant Hailey Lane is positive her pilot boyfriend of four years is going to propose, so when the rest of her schedule is cancelled she’s thrilled that she can fly home early. But instead of a celebratory dinner she gets a shock when she enters their apartment bedroom. Fleeing to a friend’s apartment she sets out to mend her broken heart by working more trips to Europe and taking advantage of long layovers and free flight passes.

This is pretty typical chick-lit, including a glamorous job (that really isn’t), lots of self-doubt, friends with fabulous Manhattan apartments, and several rich, handsome men all besotted with our heroine. Oh, and LOTS of use of italics to be sure the reader understands the significance of certain phrases.

This is total mind candy. It’s a fast and mildly entertaining read, but the writing is uneven and the situations just had me rolling my eyes. I finished it only because it satisfied several challenges.

Started out ok, but the more I read, the more it was a very watered down Sex in the City ripoff. The main character finds her boyfriend with another man (what a surprise) and then embarks on unfulfilling relationships that are so trite and boring I had to wonder what the point of the whole book was. Throw in the character's novel-writing (what another surprise I completely saw coming) and the love-hate relationship she has with a hottie (writing 101 for chick lit) and this is just a basic chick lit book with no substance. I knew who she was going to end up with as soon as we met him and I couldn't for the life of me understand why she supposedly hated him so much if not for the fact that that's the way the author wanted it.

it's an entertaining light read. this is not the most polished literature you could find. the scenes are a little disjointed and the plot is a tiny bit predictable. nevertheless, it gives you an interesting snapshot of what life could be like for a flight attendant struggling to find her bearings.. I shrugged ;)

This was complete trash. So, whatever. Chicklit isn't supposed to be really deep, or believable, but come ON. The main character is a flight attendant who decides that she wants to get married. Surprise! Her pilot boyfriend is secretly gay. Who cares! She dumps him, they run into each other when they both go to the Carribean or Mexico or something (right) and he has another beard. Whatever. So she goes back home and just happens to have a fabulous friend who has a fabulous penthouse and is all jet-set and wants the main character to house sit and feed her fabulous cats. It gets more and more implausible from there: fabulous friend wants her to have a weekend in Greece. For some reason, she has no bills or anything because she goes and then stays for like 2 months and almost marries some Greek guy who's rich and hot. Oh, and before that she has a boyfriend in Paris who she flies from NYC to see like once a week. WHAT? Yeah. It sucked. The main character was a whiny bitch to boot.

Sometimes you’re got to wonder why the hot mess is worth reading. Let’s go through the tropes: shitty job albeit flight attendant with a budget airline, settling for a guy who then surprise, surprise is caught in the act, has to find a shitty apartment share. Has a gay friend who I liked a lot, he seemed to figure out life.
When she meets Dane who seem extremely lovely, she treats him appallingly and why does he let her?
Her mum is Debbie Reynolds clone, but we love Debbie, so that’s ok.
And when she has the responsibility of minding 3 cats, she pisses off overseas to chase a guy who seems like a ‘john’.
All in all find something else.

I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Alyson Noel since I read my first novel by her Saving Zoe. She epitomizes young adult fiction to me. I love all of her books and love that they can make me feel like a teenager again when I read them. Young adult is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine and she's definitely at the top of my list.

I think if I read this years ago, I would’ve liked it. But tastes change with time, and now I don’t have any patience for the heroine and her “problems”.

3/5 STARS

Originally, I had this book at 2 stars but then I thought about it and bumped it up to 3 because I had to be honest with myself that I did like this book. The only thing that kept me from giving it that one extra star was the rushed ending and some flaws of the main character herself. But, let's start at the beginning.

We start off with Hailey Lane, a stewardess flight attendant. As a person who's never finished anything in her life, she feels she's finally on track, although not as fulfilling as she'd dreamed. She's been working for Atlas Airlines for six years and has been in a longterm relationship with her boyfriend for four years. She admits though that her relationship with Michael, a pilot, is one where if they counted all the days they actually spent together, it would probably equal no more than six months. Upon finding a box from Tiffany's, she thinks Michael's going to propose, launching her into a dizzying turmoil of should or shouldn't she marry him. She returns from her flight early, on her birthday, to surprise him only to find that he's cheated on her and... plot twist.. it turns out he wasn't going to propose. Instead, the Tiffany's box had an engraved key chain, not a ring. A key chain... after six years??? I get it Hailey.

After her disastrous breakup, Hailey finds herself wondering if she'll ever find love or even happiness. Flying keeps her constantly busy as she travels around the world while also enduring the stress of cutoffs at work, all the while having to serve everyone with a smile. After going through a couple of other disastrous relationships after her breakup, she reevaluates her life, coming to the realization that she's been settling for less when it comes to relationships. Her dream is to be a writer and after years of working on her manuscript, she finally sends it off to some publishers, only to face rejection after rejection.

In the end though, Hailey finds a breakthrough when a publisher accepts her book. She's able to turn around the seemingly downhill trajectory of her life and find both love and happiness with the last person she ever expected... Dane.

The book was a light read and refreshingly honest. Hailey's job is not only entertaining but filled with the exotic as her life leads us to places like Paris and Mykonos to her home in New York City. Her situation, being in a job she doesn't love, and a temptation of relationship of settling for security or searching for more is one that many have seen before. Overall, her story is a relatable one. Her job isn't glamorous and her relationships are far from perfect but it's real and it's got all the ups and downs life brings but it also shows that in the end, Hailey gets to write her own happy ending.

One of the main things that kept this from being a four star review for me, was Hailey's attitude at times. After her relationships plummet, she falls into this pit of self-pity and wallows in it for a good few chapters. I'm glad she has such great friends in Clay and Kat, because I'm not sure I would've been able to listen to her complaining and moaning for as long as she did.
Now, the end of the book was satisfying and I liked the slow development between her and Dane but after spending nearly the whole book hinting at it, the final chapter with them just felt rushed.

Still, as a light read it proved to have more depth than I originally gave it credit. It's got laughter and heartache, proving that its a story that's both raw and real.

2,5 estrellas, más bien.

Buf.

Me desubicaban sobremanera.
4) No he congeniado demasiado con Hailey Lane. .

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

I really enjoyed Fly Me to the Moon. It’s an easy read perfect for the beach. If you’re not already on holiday somewhere you’ll want to be after reading this. Fly Me to the Moon can easily be read in one sitting, but sadly for me real life got in the way of my reading life.

Hailey Lane is our protagonist flight attendant for a budget airline, who longs to be a writer. Even though she really doesn’t have her life together and has made several bad decisions: bad relationships, bad roommate, bad job, et cetera, she is also extremely lucky. Hailey has really good friends who provide really good perks plus she gets to fly all over the world ... albeit never getting to spend any in-depth time in the cities she flies to. She is also lucky/unlucky in the coincidence department. In this respect FMTTM is your run-of-the-mill chick-lit/romcom story.

Where FMTTM really shines though, is when Hailey is working or talking about work. Noël is a former flight attendant, so she really nails all aspects of Hailey’s job in an amusing and snarky way. Anyone who flies [semi-regularly] will enjoy the behind the scenes glimpse into the world of being a flight attendant. Even though the book was published 16-years ago it still feels relevant and topical. And sadly, not at all glamorous ... specifically the LGA 🔁 FLL route dubbed “The Miracle Flight.”

I took off half a star because the ending was very rushed and the book ended quite abruptly. However, that being said FMTTM is an enjoyable, funny read that is perfect when you want to escape.

Oh Hailey.....where to begin? Was her life so bad? She traveled, met all kinds of interesting people, and lived a busy life in NYC. Does it sound bad to me? Not one little bit. But like every job, we have the downsides. I learned so much insight on being a flight attendant. Who ever knew they sat knees apart, palms facing up under their thighs when descending a flight. There's even drama in the air! But this girl, partied in Puerto Rico, Paris and Greece. Rubbed shoulders with authors and fancy business persons. Stereotypes were to the T within these pages and gave me quite a few giggles. So much happened in such a short time, enough to leave me like girl why are you complaining? You are soooo lucky and have been blessed. Good for her for standing her ground in so many situations and staying true to herself. Looking forward to reading more from Alyson Noel.

This is the story of a flight attendant, namely Hailey Lane, and her escapades, and her in a rut job. She has asperations to become a writer and has sent a manuscript to several publishers with hopes that one of them will like her book and offer her a contract. Meanwhile, she fights to keep a job that she's tired of and looks for a boyfriend for a long term satisfying relationship. A decent read.

When stewardess, Hailey Lane, finds her pilot boyfriend in bed with another man, she takes a hard look at her life. She finishes the novel that she started years ago, jet-sets to exotic locations, meets new men and still feels like a failure. If she would only slow down, she'd find happiness is right around the corner.
