This little short story could do nothing but put a big giant smile on my face. It was just so typically Jory; of course he would get in a hostage situation in a bank, and of course his non-stop no-filter rambling about his big scary Marshal boyfriend would have the bank robbers running. Of course. God, I love him.
And yes, okay, I really am coming around to Sam and Jory as a couple. I mean, even I can’t deny that they have plenty of cute and bantery moments together.

“Why weren’t you scared?”
“Because you were right outside. Why would I be scared?”
“What if I couldn’t get to you?”
“You?” I chuckled. “Not be there to save me? Is that even possible?”
“No, it’s not.”

11 short pages of Jory just being Jory, foiling a bank robbery with his unfathomable mouth.

I don't know how to rate this novella. It was only 11 pages long, and didn't really add to much to the story. It was Jory being Jory.

Of course Jory would get held hostage during a bank robbery....why wouldn't he?

"Why weren't you scared?"

"Because you were right outside. Why would I be scared?"

"What if I couldn't get to you?"

"You? Not be there to save me? Is that even possible?"

"No, it's not."

This is an extremely short freebie (I guess it’s called a “ficlet”) that is available on the author’s website. It started off pretty good, but then it just ended. The short “He said, he said” bit with Jory and Sam that Mary Calmes writes at the end of her newsletter feels longer and more complete than this did.

2,783 words has me stupidly in love. This was classic Jory and I adored his ramble about Sam going to kill him. The man truly is a trouble magnet but he wouldn't be Jory any other way.

A good little addition to the series, that shows Jory in all his glory. I love that he just talks and scares the crap out of people, its comical at times

I love Jory so much. He just makes me laugh every time. He's so oblivious sometimes and so ADHD. This time I felt he was actually doing some of it on purpose but he's so adorable.

The scenario made no sense----which is why I (originally) gave it four stars instead of five. But Jory is just so much fun to read about that as soon as I was done I went right back and read it a second time.

I also love that Jory is little and gorgeous and he's constantly eating. In the previous book he says his brother thinks Jory has a tapeworm.

This has spoilers for the previous books, so be sure to read it in order.

Update 1/12/14: I still remember this story so fondly and have read it several times (and I am not a rereader) that I'm giving it five stars after all.

This was a fun romp of an installment to get us by until the next book in the series.

Jory is just supposed to enter a bank and make a deposit, but instead he gets held as a hostage for a bank robbery. The robbers find themselves confounded when they learn that it is just not their day. They've captured the spouse of a lethal US Marshall who has a long and tenacious memory it seems. Jory is more worried about what Sam will think about him getting into trouble than he is about getting held as a hostage.

Like I said, it was hilarious and quintessential Jory.

I'm a huge MC fan and I loved this series, but I never really read this short for some reason. I don't know why now. I just didn't think it would be enough, you know? But it was! It was funny and I loved seeing Jory and Sam again.

Oh, yes. I'm glad I took the few minutes to give this another go. Why didn't I give this 5 stars? I loved this!
