Pepper blossoms into a beautiful girl with fiery red hair, emerald eyes and a kind and caring spirit. Aside from her unusual introduction into the world she grows up rather ordinary, with a deep love for gardening and the outdoors. About the author

Danielle Findlay is a writer, public speaker and non-profit professional from LaSalle, Ontario where she lives with her husband and two young children.

As a child, Danielle had a real passion for reading and found herself lost in her beloved stories. Some of her favourite books were E.B. White’s Charlotte’s Web and The Trumpet of the Swan, and she loved and read every book in the ValueTales series countless times. She was happy to put pencil to paper whenever she had the opportunity and do some writing of her own. Some of her teachers began to take notice and encouraged her to explore her craft further.

One of the best gifts Danielle ever received was Shel Silverstein’s Where the Sidewalk Ends when she was seven, a book that piqued another creative interest. From then on, the only time a teacher’s eyebrow was ever raised at Danielle in a less than positive way was when she was passing ‘notes’ of hilarious poetry in a class she felt was otherwise mundane.

As an adult, Danielle was drawn back to her love for writing after the birth of her son, James. In her community, she has contributed to several local publications including Windsor Parent Magazine, In Business and The Windsor Star. Her work has appeared across Canada and includes articles in The Montreal Gazette and Vancouver Sun.

Danielle has written a number of stories and developed several characters for her own children that they have embraced. When Domnizelle’s Publishing took notice of one of her characters, Pepper, the story was brought to life. Pepper is a book that touches on organic growing, nutrition and helping others. It’s a tale that’s near and dear to Danielle’s heart. Over the past several years Danielle has also advocated for food security issues in her community as a Coordinator of Meals on Wheels and School Nutrition Programs.

Today (12.14.12) I received my copy of Pepper by Danielle Findlay and I couldn’t be more excited to read it.
It’s funny; even though over the last few months I’ve developed quite the GoodReads collection which I must say I am humbly ecstatic to have the great pleasure of owning , I still get excited with the same amount of elation every time I discover a new book is on its way. Now that my semester is over for the winter I will be more than looking forward to all the books I have promised myself (and others) that I will delve into. I even admit, my sister who was extremely excited to share the same name as this author, is looking forward to sharing the book with me as well. I want to thank Danielle Findlay and Domnizelles for posting this giveaway! I look forward to reading more of this book and posting my review. Thank you!

EDIT

So I couldn’t help myself just couldn’t resist, a glance at the images in the book and I was drawn. The book is filled with life lessons about appreciation, giving to those in need and sharing all that you have. It takes classic ‘fairy-tale’ concepts such as that of Thumbelina and Sleeping Beauty to encourage teachings of devotion and love for all things - for people of ALL ages. In the short picture book Pepper, the protagonist – namely Pepper, takes it upon herself to recognize the importance of community and love through her courage to save the entire town. I am even more excited now to get to read it with my little sister and I do hope that all others that read it will appreciate its morals and life lessons too. (12.15.12)
