Supernatural Fanfic In post-apocalyptic isolation, Castiel nurses Dean back to something like his former self, but will a time come when Dean's recovered --and rediscovered-- too much? Art by ekbe_vile Words:51194 complete
A well-written sensitive fanfic that made me cry. Angel Castiel nurses Dean back to health following brain damage. Eventually Dean starts to remember what led up to his injury. You need to be a hardcore Supernatural fan to understand the flashback sections. Art by ekbe_vile 'Memories, that he can wallpaper over with the sweet life of Dean and Cas during the day, wake up as soon as his head hits the pillow. They surge up through the crazy paving in his psyche like a slimy black horde of demons all fighting for the chance to ride him through the night.
Ghost Dance starts out disturbing as we sink into the mindset of a brain damaged Dean Winchester. To be honest, I was debating if I had the resolve to continue with the story. After all, Dean Winchester is a man larger than life, and nothing of the person we experience in the beginning.
I decided to move on.
Ghost Dance is about healing. Dean Winchester's very own angel, Castiel, is there from the very beginning. We learn of the events that resulted in this very outcome and experience how knowledge can be one's undoing.
This fanfiction definitely hurt to read, but in a good way. I haven't read anything from this author before, but the writing was definitely a delight to read. I will definitely have to browse through his/her other works.
It was good, slightly different than usual. Of course, I was expecting something more, as always. I really like the beginning, but then the story started to drag a little... Not the best Destiel fic out there, but definitely worth attention.
