Flesh #2.5

Room With a View: Hot Down Under

Rate this book
Natalie has watched as the zombie plague devastated civilization.

Angus had been a miracle. Twenty-three years old and gorgeous he had appeared like Romeo from the pool area and thrown supplies up to her balcony. But now Angus is gone – abandoned her, which is probably for the best. She couldn’t stand to watch him die too.

Stranded four floors up and fenced in on all sides by the infected, food and water supplies are running as low as Natalie’s spirits. A lingering death from starvation seems inevitable.

But then she sees Angus striding for the pool gate with a sawn-off shotgun in his hands. Can he make it past the infected to reach her? And what will it mean if he does?

Two things: I love zombie apocalypse books and I love when people in life or death situations get it on. This story gave me BOTH those things. The situation that Natalie found herself in was believable (trapped in the penthouse, safe but unable to escape) and I loved that Angus was all heroic and shoot-y with his big gun. Take that however you want.

A little dark, a little bloody, and a lot sexy, I think I want more in the sexy zombie apocalypse genre now. Not necessarily sexy zombies or anything, though. Being gnawed on (as these zombies tend to do) is only sexy when applied properly. Bite with care, my friends. That's all I'm saying.

Desperate 'we might die and we don't want to do it alone' sex is totally captivating. I want more, please.

02/08/14 reread - Originally, I read this before I read the others in the Flesh series. This time around, I read them in order and... EEEEE! Blackstone reference! LOVE IT! Short, but it completely captures the feel of the Flesh world. *thumbs up*

☆ ☆ ☆

No spoilers and colorful language abound!

Truth be told I really enjoy this author and the Flesh series but this was just too damn short. Her books are not particularly long, but 32 pages is hardly enough! Smut in a post apocalyptic zombie infested world?

Fuck yes.

I found this online when I googled for it. A very short read.
I only read the first book in this series, so I don't know if these characters are from book 2 or not. Anyways, they are new to me.
It's a sweet, sexy little zombie story.
Natalie has some reservations because she is 10 years Angus's senior. But Angus has no such qualms!
I don't usually get into younger man scenarios. But this one was just too deliscious.

Zombies!

This is a short story about Natalie, a woman on holiday at a resort when the apocalpse arrives. People being hit with infection are dying and turning into zombies attacking and turning other people. She's been hiding out and manages to connect with another survivor, Angus, a much younger Australian Football League player. Yum.

Some nice zombie action mixed in with the sexy times. Ends a bit abruptly and it's more of an erotica short than anything else. I'll be picking up the longer zombie book she has out which has unrelated characters but set in the same post-apocalyptic world of Australia. I love the concept.

Well, it was kinda sorta hot, but there wasn't really anything to it. Even the sex was kinda quick and lame. In the end, I resented spending a buck on it. Which is sad.

This is a short (30 pages) novella in the world of the Flesh series by Kylie Scott. It can easily be read as a standalone, especially if you're familiar with The Walking Dead-type stories.

Natalie is 31. She's been holed up in a high rise condo since the end of the world. Her boyfriend is long since dead, not that she cares so much now, the arrogant cuss. He was only concerned with how much she weighed and never her feelings. But Natalie has an inherent fear of heights, and being barricaded in her condo on an upper floor, quickly running out of food and water is starting to terrify her. Plus Angus has never returned.

Angus, 23 and an Australian footballer, found Natalie a few days after the apocalypse. He made contact with her and threw her some supplies and left to find safety for them. He didn't know Natalie thought he had left her. When he returns with supplies and a plan, he is a little shocked to realize how much Natalie missed him.

This was a fun, quick read. If you like a little younger guy-older woman action, this will be right up your alley. 4 stars Erotica

In the early days of a Zombie plague, a young man attempts to rescue a woman trapped in the penthouse of a luxury resort.

I loved Kylie Scott's FLESH and SKIN. This short story takes place in the same fictional universe, but at a distant location. There's a good concept here. Natalie is trapped on an upper floor, and the only other survivor at the resort is a young university student named Angus, who finally decides to mount a rescue. Unfortunately, the premise never really moves past a basic Cougar-College guy erotic encounter.

Yeah, the length imposes limits on character development and plot complications. But twenty-five pages is more than enough space to provide a satisfying story. While Kylie gives us quality writing, two interesting characters, and a single compelling problem--get Natalie out--the narrative completely hijacked by the sexual content. It kills the tension. How can the situation be all that dangerous if these two are more interested getting OFF than in getting OUT?

If the author had held back a little, left the character with some sexual longing but out of the penthouse, and therefore with a chance to satisfy that longing, it would have worked much better.

ROOM WITH A VIEW is a good prologue or teaser for a longer piece. But it doesn't stand up on its own feet even as a short story.

This is a great little side dish to go with Flesh, Kylie's full length novel of the Zombie Apocalypse. Natalie and Angus holidayed separately at Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast when the plague hit, taking out their companions. The story starts partway through, with Natalie believing the young man she'd been talking to through a walkie talkie had gone and left her.

We pick up when Angus returns, fully equipped with shotgun to take out the zombies and condoms to take Natalie. This is a very hot, explicit read with robust language. Very Australian too which is nice.

I enjoyed the story and would have been happy for more.

This was a great short story. I just loved Natalie and Angus and I'm hoping Kylie gives us more of their story. Maybe they can join up with the Flesh series since they seem to be the same world... :D

The description pretty much tells the tale. Angus and Natalie were both survivors of a Zombie Apocalypse. Natalie is trapped in an upstairs apartment and Angus comes to save her. Once Angus gets to Natalie, there's some hot sex and ends with them together, heading out to find more survivors. It's a great little story and I'm really hoping Kylie gives us more of Natalie and Angus. :D

I'd recommend this short story. 2 thumbs up! :D

This was too short! Only 25 pages on my Kindle and I already want more of Angus. Angus is a horrible name from my North American POV, but he was so cute. He was 10 years younger than the heroine and she felt like a dirty old lady for it, but he wanted her and he thought she was beautiful and it was adorable! It was so cute how he was so excited to finally be with her that he was shaking like he was 16. :P Although it was also the adrenaline from fighting the zombies.

He said he heard about a walled town and I wonder if its Blackstone. If there is another book in this series I hope we find out that Angus and Nat made it there safe.

Love this series.....unfortunately this novella did not do it justice. The zombies and the apocalypse storyline were merely a back drop for the sex. So if you're looking for a quick erotic read check this one out, but if you're a fan of the Flesh series and looking for more of the hot, hilarious, and action packed fun of the previous books do yourself a favor - skip this and wait for book 3.

Here's the deal: I liked this shortie and it gave me a sense of how Kylie Scott writes. I liked her style & just how much she packed in there around the hot sex scene to give me a sense of what was happening. Still, if I'm honest, it's a bit too short for me b/c I find I wanted to know more re: how Angus helps Natalie conquer her fear of heights & if they make it. It's but a wee, intriguing taste and then it's over.

This was incredibly fast, and because of that, it's really lacking in the character development department. But, considering the length, it was probably as good as it could be.

I enjoyed Flesh and Skin... I kind of hope Kylie Scott returns to that world and gives us another story. I doubt it, but a girl can dream.

The Delight

Quick, erotic, action with a side of sweetness. Zombies run amok and so Angus is to the rescue!

Room with a View starts 38 days after the apocalypse started and people turned into zombies. Set on the coast of Kings Beach where dead bodies had started to wash away. Yeah, kind of gross.

Natalie is surviving four flights up in a penthouse her dead boyfriend just had to have. Sean wasn't a real stand up guy, but tormented Natalie about her weight and looks. Well, that doesn't matter much any more because he is dead, floating in the pool down below. Natalie on the other hand believed the reports on the TV, filling the bathtub and containers with water before they were contaminated. The only thing Sean did right (well wrong) was stock the cupboards with diet drinks and bars so she wouldn't pig out. Well those have sustained her, but supplies are running low.

The one bright point to her existence was Angus, the twenty-three year old man who threw supplies up to her balcony, but has how been gone for a while. She still clutches the walkie-talkie her wrapped up tight with batteries, hoping to hear from him after they talked for hours. Faced with few supplies, she's eyeing the sleeping pills a little too closely when up marches Angus with a sawed off shotgun on his back. Insane or horny, he climbs up to be with her.

The two waste no time getting it on. Hey, with only 24 pages what else are they going to do?

While I enjoyed the rush, it was over way before it really began. Along with that, the last book kind of left us with a happy for now and this just perpetuates that feeling. Since it was written in 2012 and we are closer to 2016, I think this is the end for the series. When I checked the authors website, I didn't see anything new coming. This makes me sad as I was just beginning to adore this series.
