This is less a book about John McGovern but more his extraordinary Relationship with Brian Clough & Peter Taylor The Wunderkinds who took Nottingham Forest to two successive European cup finals, 142 Successive games without defeat. Took Derby County to The First division and prior to that success at Hartlepool. Mc govern was a key player for them and he also recounts the Ill fated Leeds experience, However it was after football experiences as a Player manager, assistant manager and estate agent/Wine bottle personaliser that make for the insight of post football careers. I've met the guy twice and was lucky to get mine signed recently at an after dinner event for which he is now making a good career from his "cloughie" impression is brilliant.
I did find the constant plugging of his son's band a bit annoying but when you have connections and opportunities you have to take them and that is what this book is about a good read no more no less.
