La maggior parte delle liriche sono a tema storico e/o celebratorio, sempre a sfondo italico. Per quanto interessante possa essere da un punto di vista letterario e metrico, non l'ho particolarmente apprezzato.
Al fin me topo con una obra poética lo suficientemente robusta como para entender al autor cabalmente. Odas bárbaras son poemas en los que Carducci parece querer fundar una sensibilidad italiana, para ello recurre a las referencias clásicas y algunos personajes históricos o patrios. Pero eso que es el fondo también tiene forma, su métrica puede ser o muy medida o muy libre.
Según es por eso que decidió ponerle bárbaras a sus odas, porque no son plenamente reconocibles dentro de la tradición poética de ese entonces. Suena raro, entre lo anticuado y lo moderno, palabras rimbombantes y sintaxis rebuscada, un nuevo modelo que deslumbra como descoloca.
Me gustó esa cadencia que tiene y aunque no todo lo puedo apreciar porque se me escapan sus referencias, sí puede ser disfrutable solo por el ritmo. Me dio gusto leer ahí un poema sobre Maximiliano y usa palabras que aluden a México, obviamente. En las Rimas y ritmo ya no lo sentí tan aventurado, como que se le acabó la chispa o qué se yo. Pero no deja de quedar el sello de este autor.
Primer Nobel de los primeros años que me sorprende gratamente.
