Profile of Evil was the first book in The Profile Series by talented author, Alexa Grace.

Sheriff Brody Chase was determined to solve the re-occurring, mysterious deaths of pre-adolescent girls, haunting tranquil Shawnee County. He was also determined to resist the stunning, incredibly astute FBI profiler, Carly Stone, brought in to assist.

Since he was nineteen, Brody had assumed the primary care-giving role of his two younger brothers. He had given up his own life for them. Carly lit a fire in him that he had never known before. Despite the habit of denying his needs over others being a hard one to break, with Carly, he couldn’t hold back.

Carly Stone knew what she wanted: firstly, to not return to the FBI, and secondly, the tall, dark and irresistible, Brody Chase, who simply oozed testosterone and sex appeal.
But it was the hug that did her in. What started as the kindest gesture she'd experienced in a long time, the action, slow and deliberate, ignited a need deep in her that she fought to extinguish, but it kindled brighter and hotter as she melted against him. That was the exact moment she knew she had to have Brody Chase.

As with the Romantic Suspense genre, most of the detail in the story was prudently focused on the heinous crimes as they were being committed, investigated, and solved, with valid time, cleverly spent inside the sick and twisted perpetrator’s head. Written in third person, with focus shifting between the victims, offender, Brody and Carly, Profile of Evil was a well paced, riveting story. The balance between the gruesome investigation, and unfolding of the amorous love story, was maintained with sensitivity and panache.

I love the way Alexa Grace writes. Her stories just get better each time. She clearly, thoroughly researches police procedures, and crime scene processing. Her ability to consistently create vivid scenes, strong, believable characters, and equally intriguing storyline, is impressive. Characters from the Deadly Series made brief and welcome appearances.

The sex scenes were scorchers – often fast and hot - not necessarily explicit, but they’ll still make your heart thrum!
Thrill after thrill shot through him as he possessed her body. Never had he experienced such intense chemistry before. The sexual tension built and built until the earth fell away, and he went with her to that place of rapture, utterly consumed.

Profile of Evil was a good mix of light suspense and quick romance; yet its thought provoking exploration of the evil that lurks in the deception of children via social media, was both unsettling and exceptional.

Despite the ending feeling a little rushed, this was another winner Alexa Grace. I look forward to the next installment of those gorgeous Chase boys! This time we had Brody. Who’s next - Cameron or Gabe? Swoon!

No compensation was received for this review. ARC was received from author for an honest review. Thank you Alexa Grace!

I read Profile of Evil before I joined Goodreads or stared leaving reviews. So I am editing my review so I can justify my rating :-)

I like that Alexa touched on a subject that is so relevant today, how truly vulnerable our children are today and especially when their self esteem is low. The story is fast paced and I was able to care about the characters.

I'll confess I picked this up for the cover of the shirtless male. However, I decided to read it for all the rave reviews posted here on GR. And to large extent, this is a great romantic suspense, heavy on the suspense and the investigation of a serial killer and sexual sadist who preys on preteen girls. The book's narrative occurs from multiple points of view, not just Brody and Carly's, our crime-solving duo, but also that of the traumatized victim, the sadistic killer, and even his complicit sister.

There are lots of heavy themes here that don't quite mix with a heavy romance, and the author does well to downplay the hot-and-heavy between Brody and Carly as she focuses on the logistics of solving some truly horrible crimes. The use of social media accounts to draw the victims into the killer's trap was portrayed convincingly enough that I made it a point to speak to my young daughter again about safe protocols for online use.

Overall, an excellent book, with just a few drawbacks for me. To whit:

Towards the end of the book, when the clues and the reveals start coming uber-quick, there were a few too many red herrings in catching the real killer. Was it the overweight bus driver? The geeky librarian? The meth-lab retard? None of the above, but there definitely were way too many child predators in Podunk, Indiana.

Also, no one should ever, ever compare an erection to a toothache. When the author compared the sexual sadist's erection to a toothache, I thought, Okay, the bitch deserves that pain. But when the same metaphor was used for Brody's standup guy, I couldn't help but wince and reach for the Ambesol. Please, don't.

This is the start of a new series from Alexa Grace and will hook you in immediately. I loved her other series Alexa Grace's Deadly Trilogy Boxed Set and had high hopes for this one. Alexa delivers beyond!

Profile of Evil centers around the search for an online child predator. The attention to detail as the team of police and profilers work together allows you to feel you are also searching for answers with them.

When the evil becomes almost unbearable, you are reminded of the good that also exist in the world with the blooming love between Brody & Carly.

A must read!

Another brilliant piece of work from Alexa Grace! Profile of Evil might just be her best book yet! Profile of Evil has a heart-stopping plot with the handsome Brody Chase coming to the rescue. Sheriff Brody Chase is one hell of a "knock your socks off" man. Once you pick up this book you won't want to put it down, so prepare for a late night of reading! Alexa, thank you for your amazing work, and I can't wait to read the next book in the Profile series!

Well what can I say, after reading her first trilogy, I thought I was going to find pretty much of the same in this book but this new "Profile" series promises to be another gripping collection, I can't get enough of how descriptive and detailed each crime scene is and it also allows the reader to get inside the killer's mind. Love the chemistry between Carly and Brody and can't wait to read more about the Chase brothers, Well done Ms. Grace another fantastic book!

Have you ever read a book that had a profound impact on your life and thought process? I just finished Alexa Grace’s newest book “Profile of Evil”, and I can truly say without a doubt that every parent of a preteen should read this book!
How much do we know about what our pre teens are doing on the Internet? It is frightening how insightful and thought provoking “Profile of Evil” is. Do our kids understand the depth of the evil and deception people are capable of via the Internet? This book made me think harder about the innocence of our youth and how easy it is to deceive anyone much less an impressionable pre-teen who believe they can only find love and acceptance from strangers.
Profile of Evil takes us to the depths of evil and deception that prays on the innocence of our youth!
But that is not all we get from this book; Alexa takes us on a journey into evil against children, but at the same time we discover 2 people who have been hurt and deprived of what we all long for…the love of a lifetime!
Brody had to grow up fast feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders when his mother died and he took on raising his brothers at a young age. Carly has seen things no one ever wants to experience and been burned by someone she trusted. Together they discover love and passion in a trying time and draw strength from each other while learning to live with the dangers of their chosen professional fields.
The strength of all of Alex’s characters truly amazes me! The balance she maintains in her books is inspiring to say the least. While we struggle to come to grips with the evil, we are drawn to the passion and love between Brody and Carly.
Alex Grace continues to stir a mix of emotions in all of her books. She never leaves me wanting! The amount of research she puts into her books is evident in the details she writes about all of the elements of the storyline.
Whether it is police drama, romance, passion or mystery you are seeking, “Profile of Evil” has it all and with the perfect amount of details and sensitivity to the inhumane treatment of the pre teens.

Another great start to a trilogy by Alexa Grace. Profile of Evil spins off from her Deadly Trilogy with Carly Stone and Sheriff Brody Chase. Brilliantly written, this was such a suspenseful romantic novel. I loved it from beginning to end, Profile of Evil kept me guessing throughout who the serial killer was. What a shock when I realized who it was, I would have never figured it out.

This novel was particularly scary for me. Even though this is fiction it hit too close to home with the killer targeting pre-teen girls. The reality of how easy it is for these predators to target these kids through all the social sites available is incredibly scary. It made me talk to my son and my niece again and discuss the do's and don'ts and explain to them what could happen. I know this is fiction, but you hear about things happening everyday, its important to talk to them about the dangers.

Getting back to the book, in Deadly Relations, we got to meet Carly Stone and like her brother, Blake, I enjoyed her character. Now she gets her own book with Sherriff Brody Chase, who together make the perfect team. Loved the romance between them and their willingness to back each other up when doing their job. Both were protective of each other, but they were able to put that behind them and work to catch the killer. We also got to meet the rest of the Chase brothers, who, let me just say all were delectable. And I can't wait until their books come out.

Highly recommend this and all of Alexa Grace's works. She's an up and coming author who has loads of talent.

Edge of your seat thriller...some of the things that go on in this book are terrifying but at the same time your saying thank god...It get emotional at times...I found myself crying a bit...

There's a serial killer in Shawnee County which Brody's considers his county, and he's not too happy about that...finding a site with the teens who have been killed....watch while he searches and brings the sick person to justice.,

When he calls in help...he just does not want the FBI in his county, but his friend suggests someone who is an ex-federal agent and current consultant...she can profile this serial killer for them...The first meeting Sheriff Brody and the ex-federal agent have is rather interesting, actually catches him totally off guard and frozen in his footsteps....He thinks he's meeting Carl Stone..ends up being a mistake, and the misunderstanding gets clarified....She tells him "It's Carly Stone that you're looking for. Why do you want to talk to me?" things get heated between these two..The chemistry sizzles..

Here is the Profile she lays out for them of what the killer is doing: Online teens that are troubled at home, at school that are searching for friends...that have no friends at school.
So there online Teen Chats, Facebook, etc...until the killer comes across there cries for anyone to listen...that's when he nabs them...makes them feel wanted, and understood.

My first book by Alexa Grace and will not be my last...I love Alexa Grace's writing..It's different..It drew me right in..

This is the start of another dynamite series by Alexa Grace. There is a deranged serial killer going after teen girls. Sheriff Brody brings in profiler Carly Stone to help catch the killer. The author does a great job with her details regarding the evils of predators on the internet who go after children. You can tell she did a lot of research on the subject. This story has drama, suspense and romance and keeps you on the edge of your seat. They are looking for a missing teen and racing against the clock in hope to find her alive.

Brody was forced at a young age to raise his younger brothers when his mom died so he is not looking for anything more than a one-night stand. However, Carly shows up and he is not so sure of what he wants. He knows he wants her but is he willing to risk it all on romance and go for more than a one-night stand?
Carly has been hurt in the past and getting involved with the sheriff is the last thing she expects. However, the chemistry between them is undeniable. The sex scenes are hot and romantic.

The author brings in several of the characters from her Deadly Trilogy and it was nice to catch up with those characters. She also introduces his two brothers Gabe and Cameron which will be featured in future stories.
If you like romance with action then this is definitely the book for you. Alexa Grace definitely has another winner!

Alexa Grace did a wonderful job writing this book. This is the first book I have read of her's and it was definitely different then all the other books I have read.

It was good in deed. I liked how Sheriff Brody and Carly worked together then fell in love. It was strong and you felt it. I love how they met though. She naked swimming and he going to meet with her to ask for her help. I could only imagine both of the expressions. Now with the bad guy (whom I will not say who it is, wouldn't want to ruin the surprise for you.)i like how he was caught. And the victim was just the sweetest. When she was being bullied in school and wronged by her stepped dad which forced her to run away I nearly cried for her. I felt so bad cause in real life that happens.

But I would warn you the content of the crimes involved are a bit out there. But you have to understand it happens everyday. Most would think this type of story should be in crime book or true stories. But sometimes when something as evil as this can have a love story which would also lead to this story having a happy ending which most crime books or true story books might not.

Give the book a chance before you judge it. Yes at the beginning you might want to throw it away but don;t continue you might surprise yourself by actually liking it.

I love this author’s ability to skirt the edge of danger and give you the heebie-jeebies. This book encapsulates every parent with a teenage daughter worst nightmare. Yet she infuses it with tender moments between Brody and Carly to offset the malevolence.

Like all of Alexa Grace's previous books this one puts the readers on full-alert; it is a high-voltage, fraught-with-danger, vicarious experience that is and super-charged with breathtaking love... Ms. Grace created another riveting story that assails the senses and churn your emotions.

Looking forward to the next 2 stories - this is a family of hot-sexy men.
Profile of Terror featuring Private investigator, Playboy, and youngest brother, Gabriel Chase.
Profile of Fear featuring Lead detective, Cameron Chase.

And maybe if we beg and plead we can get a bonus hottie…Brody’s best friend and Shawnee county coroner, Bryan Pittman.

This book is really suspenseful and written well. I like the characters. I read her other series first. She writes personalities well, although this one seemed to have some fillers in the book. It seemed we went over and over and over what the profile of the bad guy was, but none of it was going to actually help narrow down the field much, it was just stuff restated a bunch of times about what they would find AFTER they caught him. Really though what keeps me from ever giving this author 5 stars is that the endings fall a little flat. Like the buildup is so great, and then it just kind of ends. This ending was my least favorite of the 4 of her books I've read. I don't want to give any spoilers. Just saying, I think it would be excellent and 5-star-worthy if she would actually have the heroine in danger with the bad guy all alone at the end. It always seems to build up like that in the books, with the bad guy wanting the girl the whole time, but it never really happens. Just my suggestion to make the other 2 books in this series a home run.

I LOVED THIS BOOK, I'VE READ ALL BUT ONE BOOK IN THE "DEADLY TRILOGY SERIES" (have to read that Christmas one). THIS BOOK HAD THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF EVERYTHING; CSI FLAVOR, SEX, ROMANCE, ANGST, EXCITEMENT, MURDER, CRAZZZZY KILLER, CHILD ABUSE AND A GREAT STORYLINE. I LOVED BRODY AND HIS BROTHER'S THEY WERE SO FUNNY AND ALL WERE ALPHA MALES. YES! I GUESSED WHO THE CRAZED KILLER MIGHT BE, I WAS RIGHT. YEAH ME! THE STORY REALLY SHOWS THE HORROR'S OF TECHNOLOGY IN OUR SOCIETY TODAY, AND THAT YOU BETTER KEEP A WATCHFUL EYE ON YOUR CHILDREN USING IT. I WAS KEPT ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT, FOR MOST OF THE BOOK. I LOVE MS. GRACE'S WRITING, SINCE MY FAVORITE KIND OF BOOKS ARE EROTICA & MURDER, SHE DOES BOTH. THAT'S A WIN, WIN FOR ME, I GET BOTH IN ONE. THE COVERS HAVE SOME SERIOUS EYE CANDY ON THEM TOO. SIGH! ;D

Alexa Grace does not disappoint! Profile of Evil is definitely EVIL! The twists and the turns just keep coming and leave you hanging on to the edge of your seat through out the book!

The book does a good job of keeping secrets until they finally unveil the Master's identity.

I love Brody, Cameron and Gabe! I can't wait to read the brother's books! Brody is awesome...love how protective he is! His nature to be overprotective of his brother's and then of "Carl" the consultant hired to give a profile!

The twists keep going all the way to the end....it is fabulous story that hooks you from page one and keeps its claws sunk deep until the last page! I want more...

Excellent read, highly recommend to everyone!

Intriguing from the start

Young teenage girls are going missing. Sheriff Brody Chase is not happy to find that his county is being used as a dumping ground for these girls. Calling in FBI Specialist Carly Stone as a consultant to help him find the killer is his best hope.

Along with his brothers, Cameron his lead detective and Gabe a Private Investigator Computer Forensic Specialist they try to set a trap to catch the killer. According to Carly the profile of the killer tends to follow law enforcement and is probably someone they know.

Time is running out, another girl has gone missing and it takes all of their special skills to hopefully catch the killer before he has a chance to kill his lastest victim.

Alexa Grace has done it again! Alexa has once again created a book where the reader get pulled in and doesn't come up for air until the last word is read! The first book in this trilogy introduces us to Carly Stone, a FBI profiler, who comes to a small Indiana county to help with an online sex predator case. I admit reading the gruesome details was a bit difficult but Alexa did a great job of providing a realistic view of this horrendous issue!

Sheriff Brody Chase is very attracted to Carly but knows she will head back to Florida when this case is completed. The chemistry between them is smoking!

Can't wait for the next book in this series, which won't be here fast enough!!!

I liked this book a lot. The only reason I didn't give 4 stars is that it stalled a bit in the middle.
It had rollercoaster twists and turns. Bad guy is cut his eyes out with a spoon then feed them to him bad.
Tear jerker at times, anger inducing beat your fists on your thighs angry at times.
The chase brothers..mmmm..the best things come in 3!
Loved Carly & Abbie..strong, fearless just Yeah!!
A few areas are repetitive but not enough to distract from the story.
Good, quick read.
If you're a parent, you'll think twice about the difference between giving your kids privacy and letting them loose with edevices.

The first book in the Profiles series by Alexa Grace. Brody Chase is the sheriff in a small community in Indiana. Two Jane Doe bodies were found not long ago and now two more bodies are discovered in a burned vehicle. His concern leads him to Florida to consult with a profiler. Only Carl is Carly and WOW! LOL.

It was a good book and told the story in a satisfying style but there was just something that didn't click right for me. I wasn't hooked into the romance portion. It seemed almost forced. I wasn't into the villain perspective element either. Still it was an easy read and I'd recommend it.

When two bodies are found in a burnt car Sheriff Brody gets in touch with Carly, who is a profiler. When more bodies are found, they realize there is a serial killer targeting teenage girls. He convinces them to leave home and be with him but when they do he rapes and beats them. As Brody and Carly hunt for a killer, they also start to fall for each other.

Some of the conversations sounded sort of fake. Brody and Carly's relationship happened too quick. They said they loved each other within a couple of days meeting. The ending seemed rushed too. But it did keep me in suspense and I didn't guess who the killer was. I would still recommend this book.

This was my first Alex's Grace book and I am hooked and can't wait to read more. I love her raw and edgy style that does not hold back. She is an author who is not afraid to go to touchy subjects like in this book the subject being sex with underage girls and the internet.
I loved the book and how she had so much going on but you did not feel overwhelmed by the number of perverts they were finding when looking for the killer. It was almost like a movie in a book there was so much going on. Plus the romance and suspense were just right. I don't give spoilers so all I am going to say is this is one awesome book.

Fantastic Book by Alexa Grace, I strongly recommend you read it Proof of Evil is the first of a series centred around the small town of Morel in Shawnee County Indiana. It is full of Murder, Suspense, Betrayal and Romance.
I couldn't put it down and neither will you, so be advised keep the snacks and a drink nearby and be prepared to read into the night, cause you'll just have to find out who is the culprit. No Peeking though. I was tempted believe me.
Enjoy.

This book has been on my maybe shelf for a long time. Part of my book resolutions this year is to tackle this shelf. Sadly this one didn't work for me. There was nothing wrong other than I was bored while reading it. I made it 50 pages before realizing that I didn't care if Brody figured out who the killer was, or why the killer started to kill. If Brody's brother dated his ex or if the sparks flew between Brody and Carly. In the end this one wasn't for me.

You know the author did her job when you are still thinking about the book days after you're done reading it.
