Thou shalt not covet thy best friend’s sister. For Julian McCallister, those words are easier said than done. But no matter how much he might wish otherwise, he is determined to keep Emma at arm’s length.
However, Emma McKenzie believes arm’s length is too far. For as long as she can remember, she’s been in love with Julian. It’s unfortunate he sees her as nothing more than Garrett’s younger sister. Not to mention, she doesn’t believe the gossip that surrounds him, or the rumors of madness and murder regarding the tragedy in his past.
But that tragedy haunts Julian and when he and Emma are caught up in a scandal, it threatens not only the peace he’s finally found in her arms, but quite possibly her life as well.
I write historical romance for Entangled Publishing and The Wild Rose Press. Like any good Jersey Girl, I love Bruce Springsteen, the New York Yankees, the New York Giants, the New York Rangers, Tom Hiddleston, tattoos, and all things historical--just not necessarily in that order.

This book is the 4th book in this series however you can read it and not be confused at all if you haven’t read the other books. This book is about the only McKenzie sister and how her and her love finally coming together. Emma has been in love with Julian since she was about 12 maybe before that. Julian is the best friend of her two older brothers and her parents treat him as if he is another son to them. She has dreamed about marring him countless times but she never thought once that she would marry him the way she does. Julian has always liked Emma the same way she likes him however in his mind how could there ever be anything between them. She is the little sister of his two best friends. They would kill him if he did anything inappropriate with her or hurt her in anyway. Julian also thinks himself damaged in a way. The men in his family go mad and take their wives with them. He has lived most of his life with the people in town whispering about him. What kind of women would want to attach herself to someone like him? He could never put Emma through that. Plus he doesn’t want to have children. What if what they whisper is true, he wouldn’t want to pass that madness onto his children and continue the cycle. When he makes a stop Brunswick in between trips he never expected to run into Emma in town. She convinces him to come to her parent’s home and have dinner with them and catch up. A storm rolls into town and keeps him there longer than expected. He is having trouble fighting his attracted to Emma and learns that Emma feels the same about him. He wants to ask her father to court her but things go all wrong. Will everything turn out alright for Emma and Julian? I really enjoyed this book, the first book in the series is still my favorite but this one is close. Emma and Julian have this love for each other and the other isn’t sure the other feels the same. Julian has had a horrible past and fears that he will turn out to be the same way as his father and grandfather. His fear causes him to make some bad decisions and causes problems between Emma and him. Emma sees him so differently from everyone else and wants him to see himself the way she sees him. They are both so strong in character and perfect for each other. He evens her temper and stubbornness while she helps see how wonderful he really is, she helps him heal himself and realize that things will be okay. All the books in this series were great and I would love to read more about the characters now that I have read how they each found their love. The books pulled me in and I felt like I was in the story. The mix of what happens on land and then on sea is wonderful. I can’t say enough about the series as a whole as well as each book individually. I look forward to reading other books by Kimberly Nee in the future. I was given this in return for an honest review.
“Windemere” is the fourth book in the McKenzie Brothers series by Kimberly Nee and we finally get to find out about that scandal with Emma & Julian that is mentioned in previous books! the writing of this book was just as good as the last three but I just didn't like it as much. The “Scandal”... So her mom caught her making out with a guy. Yes I get that in those times it was scandalous, but it was her mother, how did anyone else find out about it? And after what Rebecca & James did and the way Rebecca’s father treated her you would think they wouldn't be so harsh it’s not like she caught them in bed. As for their treatment of Julian, they treat him like part of the family but after they force him to marry their daughter they act like he’s a disease. Rebecca even goes as far as telling him she was always scared of him falling for Emma… So you make him marry her? None of it makes sense to me. But other than that it was a great love story. I absolutely love Emma and her “Take no crap” attitude. Julian could have been a little stronger though, but considering what he went through I think he turned out to be an amazingly strong character and I was glad when he got over the past and embraced his future with Emma. Like all her books Kimberly was able to bring suspense, humor and sexy love scenes into a historical romance that leaves you hooked from the beginning and hoping for another book.
This was a cute read about young love that couldn’t be turning in to love for a lifetime. One kiss in a hall was all it took which Emma’s mother saw to make is a shotgun wedding. It didn’t matter that Julian was planning on asking for her hand, sometimes being a little to late makes the worse things come out.
They both have loved each other for many years. Emma was to young for Julian to even thinks about more. That did not stop him from wanting and wishing, he kept his distances, a lot of good that did when years late he can’t keep his hands off her. Emma has always loved and wanted Julian she didn’t pay any attention to the rumors of his family being crazy and killing their wife’s. Julian has a few secretes he is afraid to share but must be before they can be happy. Is he going mad like the rest of his family or is his feeling normal?
This was an ok read not as good as some of the other books I have read of this author. I did find it interesting and the author did keep my interest. As I am sure it will yours. I give this a 3.5 star
Emma McKenzie has always been in love with her older brother best friend Julian McCallister but he has always treated as more of a sister. Even at twelve when she confessed to him, he was just kept her at arm’s length.
Julian has his own secrets. Rumors surround his family with the death of her parents and the scandals that his family is insane and murderers. Emma has never believed in them as she has always seen his good side.
As his past tragedy haunts him, Emma becomes his solace as he tries to keep at bay. Will he able to admit his feelings and tell her the truth? Will they get to be happy after everything is played out?
Emma has been in love with Julian since she was a teen, but there is this unwritten rule that you do not go near, touch, or think un-pure thoughts about your best friend’s younger sister.
Julian failed on that one. Having secret rendezvous, when she came of age, of course. Though Julian wanted to be with Emma, he was around of the being like the men his family. Killing himself and his wife, deciding he won’t have any kids, so he can’t pass it on to them.
Emma doesn’t care about the rumors, she only wants to be with Julian and when her brother finds them together she will get her wish. Now she has to help Julian get over his fears.
This tale was very heartwarming and emotional. By far my favorite in the series. Now are there going to be more? Maybe about some cousins? I can live with that.
Kimberly Nee’s “Windemere” is the fourth book in her McKenzie Brothers series. I would liken the series to Stephanie Laurens’ Black Cobra Quartet series. The entire series is very well done and has nice, full stories in each book as well as interconnections between the books. Each book has a lot of really sexy parts, which is good because I hate historical romances without any naughty bits! “Windemere” has Julian, the leading man, who definitely has a thing for his best friend’s sister, Emma. Once again, there’s a lot of heated sexual tension – delicious!
This is the Fourth book in The McKenzie Brothers Series, it is a historical Romance setting with some naughty bedroom romance and story suspense. The Author does a great job setting up the scene for you in the story, and makes you want to keep reading and turning the pages. This story follows Emma and Julian and how they meet and fall in love. The author does a great job connecting the series of the books together but also keeping them separate. I am looking forward to reading more of Kimberly Nee books.
Julian and Emma's story lights your heart and mind on fire! It wasn't my favorite of the series, but it was certainly amazing all the same! This has forbidden love, shotgun weddings, and plenty of drama and love for any reader of any age! Kimberly Nee hits it out of the park with this series!

I thought is was a cute story. I loved Julian. He was a wounded but strong hero. There were some things I didn't like about Emma, but it wasn't enough of an irritant to put off the story. It was not very angsty (which I like).
Emma has been in love with him forever. She doesn't think Julian sees her more than a kid sister. Julian knows he needs to keep his distance from his friends sister. He also never plans on marrying. I guess there is a change of plans for everyone.
